Title: A Moonlit Stroll

Reserved for Idrial

Saraekiel slowly followed behind the attractive dark haired woman infront of him, admiring the view Shae presented as she walked along the boardwalk pretending to check out the different stores and small seaside restaurants. It was a nice night for it, the moon was full  the air was brisk and cool but not overly cold and he loved how the Boardwalk was lit with old-world tiki lamps with only a few modern ones to give the extra light needed to lighten the area but not so it was too overly bright; it kept the area well lit but still filled with enough shadows and darkness to give it an air of mystery, romance and a little danger, an image not unlike himself and the woman he followed.

“Why are we here again Kiel?” Shae asked, impatience and irritation ripe in her voice as she held up a homemade crystal necklace for her inspection, distain evident in her every action.

“You said you wanted to go shopping.”Saraekiel answered with a hint of amusement. Shae could be a snob but he knew she enjoyed coming to the boardwalk as much as he did, it was always different and there was always something new to see and more often then not trouble to find. He grinned wickedly at Shae as she turned around and looked at him in affronted surprise.

“This is not shopping Kiel, this is slumming.” Pretending to be insulted Shae strides over to the railing and sits atop it, tucking her feet behind the second rung beneath her, but not before she used telekinesis to unobtrusively slide the necklace she had admired into a pocket of the coat she wore over her jeans and halter top. The moon shone brightly behind her, glinting on the softly breaking waves as a gently sea breeze blew strands of her hair around her; almost as if it was trying to caress her with her own hair. Grinning suddenly at the dark angel she raised a knowing eyebrow at him. Ädmit it, you came her in the hope of finding that other dark angel thats suppose to rule this area, whats her name again? Zuhash, Zohestri?”

“Zoheret” Saraekiel corrected amusedly as he leaned up against a lamp post and crossed his arms as he grinned back at her, ignoring his own shoulder length hair as it to started to move around in the gently evening breeze. He knew she knew Zoherets name just as well as he did, this subject had been a bone of contention between them ever since they had found out Zoheret had claimed this area as hers shortly after the Oligarchy disbandment a few months ago. “ and who know, she could be here, we do own the place after all.”

Shae laughed softly at his own presumption. “ She owns it sugar, you are another one of her subjects.”  Shae quickly cast a look around at the small throng of people moving around the boardwalk and shrugged. “She doesn’t appear to be here, can we please now go to Venture!? Its been open for a few weeks now and I’m dying to check it out,”

Saraekiel grunted in disgust as the club was once again brought up” I am not going to a damn fang bangers buffet. Take yourself if you’re that determined to go, you’re a big girl and can look after yourself.”

Shae grinned wickedly and battered her eyes at him, knowing it would irritate the shit out of the dark angel. “ But Kiel, I want to go with you.” She whinned.

Samantha bobbed too and fro between the people that occupied the boardwalk, she had her headphones in as she was listening to a mixture of music. People were less likely to interrupt you with their stupid questions if you looked uninterested in the world around you. Jake had been really good lately with giving Sam a little more freedom, as long as she told him where she was going and when she'd be back everything was fine. It was even more relaxing when she didn't have one of Conner's stupid agents following her, she'd given them the slip more than once. It was almost a natural talent that she could disappear with ease. A small smile lit up her face and those silver eyes shined through the darkness.

Besides she had no attention on grabbing someones attention tonight, not with the plain Jane clothes she was wearing. Of course Sam was wearing her favorite brand of jeans, Riders. At one point and time they were a dark colored denim but they had since faded, but they were so comfortable. She wore a simple white belt that matched her white running shoes that were a little scuffed up on the toe. She wore a simple blue and white jacket that kept the cold wind out, under that jacket was a plaid shirt in the colors of dark blue, white and pink. Her hair was tied up in a high pony tail with a her bangs surrounding her face, she had to admit she looked like a simpleton.

The smell of seafood and the ocean air was tantalizing, she took in a deep breath letting the particles in the air waft over her tongue. It was a shame that this would be as close as she would get to tasting anything again. Food to her now was like a poison and now blood was what she needed to survive. She felt a small hunger pang in her stomach but it wasn't for blood it was for actual human food. She knew she couldn't eat the fabulous food and with a small sigh she made her way away from the crowd and down the darker part of the boardwalk.

She made her way towards the rail that separated the sidewalk from the ocean. She leaned on the rail not paying attention to the two people that were far off to the side. A woman and a man both supernaturals. She couldn't tell exactly what species but this time she didn't bother seeking them out. She also couldn't pick up on a familiar smell, the wind was blowing in the wrong direction. Not to mention the over powering smell of the ocean and seafood. That scent of a dusty road after being lightly dusted with fresh rain was just out of the way of Sam's sense of smell. So she watched the the oceans waves tumble and fight with each other, this filled her with a sort of inner peace.

Shae smiled smugly as she watched Saraekiel glower angrily at her. Needling him was so much fun and nothing annoyed him more than a whinny, clingy, airhead and the topic of Zoheret always got him going but she had to admit even to only herself that she was concerned about his interest in this so called famously infamous Dark Angel. Saraekiel spoke somewhat highly of her and how she was said to help Angels fallen and dark get their wings under them so to speak after their transitions; not that Saraekiel had ever been helped by her, no....Saraekiel would be the last person to ask from help from someone who he didn’t really know. If there was one person who had trust issues it was Saraekiel; the Angel who wouldn’t even tell people his real name and insisted on being called “Kiel”for protection and safety precations. As for her request that she would only go to Venture with him by her side...Pffft.  She had already been to the new club...alot actually, she just loved the feel to the place, the buzz and the glam not to mention the oh so attractive people that visited there. Laughing merrily she hopped off the railing and smiled at her friend. “C’mon Mr Dark and Broody, let’s eat. I want to try that Italian Bistro we walked by earlier.” Smiling saucily she strolled ahead confidently knowing Saraekiel was only a few steps behind her, no doubt watching her ass. She had an idea when Saraekiel had said he would take her shopping that she wouldn’t be going anywhere near a Gucci or a Carla Zampatti Boutique so had dressed accordingly with slightly heeled open toed shoes, tight dark blue jeans, a light cream coloured, silk halter top  and a waist length, open,  blue cashmere jacket. Saraekiel  she acknowledged silently looked fantastic in his slightly scuffed boots, black, skin tight jeans, dark blue silk shirt and his ever present ankle length “coat”.

Smiling softly to herself with her loose hair blowing gently in the breeze she casually checked out the people around her, it was busy this time of night but then it was always busy on the boardwalk but she couldn’t help but notice the young woman leaning against the railing looking over the crashing waves, she was about to turn her gaze else where when she sensed the unmistakeable energy she associated with vampires. Unlike Saraekiel she had no problem with other supernaturals no matter the type, if they left her alone she left them alone but she culdn’t help but notice the strong readings she was picking up, this girl was strong, both in character and in ability, abilities she sensed that hadn’t even been tapped into yet. But ever since a few months ago; since the night of the Oligarchy disbandment actually, Saraekiel had been edgy whenever vampires where mentioned or around him so she figured she had better give him the heads up, just in the unlikely case he hadn’t noticed yet.

“female Vampire coming up on our left, young but strong. You gonna set her on fire and dump her in the sea?” She sent telepathically to the Angel behind her as they walked closer to the figure leaning against the railing before them.

Saraekiel couldn’t help but smile slightly as he once again found himself following behind Shae. The shifter could be irritating as all hell, but there was no one he trusted more. He ignored her silent message as he was already aware of the vampire leaning against the railing. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously as he looked at her, then realized she was familiar to him, though dressed a lot differently to the last time he had seen her.
“Sam?”he called out softly.

Sams headphones had her hearing occupied with techno, she paid no attention to the movements of the two individuals walking her way. She was minding her own business and was soon getting tired of just leaning on the railing. Sam enjoyed being in the ocean a lot more than just watching it. She had her eye on a few stalls that remained open during the night time hours, maybe it was time to take a second look. Then the wind changed direction and along with it came that familiarity that made her feel welcome. As she turned she saw him, that magnificent man that gave her a small glimpse into his private life. She could never forget him, he was a true rebel in her eyes.

She pulled out her headphones only catching the word "am" and she could put two and two together. She faced Saraekiel with her hands clasped in the front. "It's an honor to be in your presence again," she directed to Saraekiel. A small smile on her lips, she wanted to be formal with him as a sign of respect.

"And it is an honor to be in your presence as well," she directed to the young lady with him. She was beautiful but she was different. What species she did not know and it peeked her interest along with meeting Saraekiel, the look in Sams silver eyes with speckles of gray glimmered. They had much to talk about and Saraekiel would be able to tell from the way she looked in his eyes. That look of comfort and a bit of joy of running into him again.

Saraekiel smiled warmly as Sams feeling about him swarmed through his senses, he was glad Sam had survived the disbandment of the Oligarchy and the power struggle that ensued.

“The pleasure is mine Sam and I am glad to see you survived the initial...mayhem...that our fair city finds itself in” he said with a wicked grin, remembering well the last time he had seen Sam and their parting Turning to Shae slightly he lifted his hand and gestured to her. “Allow me to introduce my friend...” Here he halted not sure how to proceed, he didn’t believe in the modern casual attitude of giving names. Names to him were a sacred thing and the giving of one a sacred trust as he knew that a name carelessly given could be used as a weapon and a tool of enslavement. It was why he insisted of only ever using the last part of his name. The fact Sam knew his real name was abit of a bother to him and he had meant to fix that the night they met but had become sidetracked by other events.

“Shae.”Shae said without hesitation when Saraekiel halted. She didn’t share his paranoid believe and attitude about names. “Its a pleasure to finally meet you Sam. Kiel here has mentioned you once or twice over the last few months.” She lied glibly, infact Saraekiel hadn’t mentioned her at all which she found more then a little irritating and she couldn’t help but wonder if she was the cause of Saraekiels recent paranoid attitude towards vampires. Smiling brightly she looked at Saraekiel and cocked a shapely eyebrow at him. Oh yes he had much to explain and she had no qualms about letting him know it.

“Hmmm, yes, well.”Saraekiel said with a small grin of amusement at Shae’s  cocked eyebrow before returning his attention back to Sam. “So what brings you here tonight?”he asked with a grin. “” Did you come to do some shopping too?”he finished with an amused smile.

"Survived thanks to your warning. And more informed than the last time." She teased him. True she had known more about the the city itself. Partly cause her and Jake we're getting along better and in turn Jake had informed her of certain events.Plus it helped that with the two getting along better that he was putting a little more trust in thier relationship. A positive for Saraekiel. But unfortunately she still was a guppie in a big pond but so far she had faired quite well.

Sam stepped in to shake Shae's hand, "I hope he hasn't said too much." Her eyebrow was cocked at the stranger. Somehow that seemed very unlikely and she squeezed Shae's hand to show that her unusual statement was noticed. Shae was being watched now, Sam was attune to picking up small details. She turned her attention back to Saraekiel with a nervous gleam in her eye, she wasn't sure why he had mentioned her to this Shae person. She shrugged it off for now as nothing to throw Shae off. Hopefully it would work.

She released Shae's hand, she didn't hurt the poor thing. "I was actually just browsing for now. A few books caught my attention. I was on my way back up before I ran into you." She bowed her head at him with a smile. "Where are you off to with such a lovely lady." She was making conversation for now, she knew at some point Saraekiel would be wanting information soon.

Shae looked at her released hand with a small frown before looking at Sam with a look of surprise. Well Sam had turned out to be more then she had expected. At first she had assumed Sam might have been Saraekiels most recent bed partner for a night or two but apparently she had been wrong. Shrugging silently to herself she decided to keep quiet for now but she was going to keep both eyes on the feisty little vampire.

“Play nice” Saraekiel admonished telepathically to Shae before smiling at Sam “We weren’t really off to anywhere, just thought a nice stroll along the boardwalk would be nice.  When Shae here decided she felt like trying out the little Italian Bistro down the way. Food smelt great and it wasn’t overly crowded.” Tilting his head slightly he grinned “Would you like to join us?” He hadn’t missed Sam's hint of gained knowledge and had no doubt that it most likely retained to vampires so he curious indeed to see what she had to tell him but he hadn’t missed the slight tension between her and Shae and so was willing to play it cool and casual for now.

Sam took in consideration the frown she received from Shae, it meant something but she wasn't quite sure what. Jake had always told her to be two steps ahead and for now his advice was working. Shae seemed to be put off by Sam a little, it reminded her of when Saraekiel learned about her bloodline they first time they met. It put a mischievous smile on her face, nothing against Shae but who knows how she might take Sams  smile.

"If you don't both mind then yes I would like to accompany you." Her hands no longer clasped in front but they now  fell loosely to her sides. She shoved her hands in her jacket pockets for the moment. "May I suggest you try their sixteen layer lasagne. It's quite tasty." She was here a long time ago with her school colleagues when she was still human. She waited for them to move not sure were she should walk.

Chuckling softly Saraekiel linked arms with both women and walked them to the Bistro. It was a simple setup, mainly alfresco  so that people can watch the ocean and the people walking past but with a few tables and booths inside with the service counter that displayed their deserts and alcohol selections.

Once there he seated them both before seating himself then he turned his smile and gaze to Sam, knowing Shae would be happy listening for now till she figured out exactly how Sam and he knew each other. He also couldn’t help but be amused at the fact that the not knowing would be irritating the absolute crap out of his shifter friend.

“So Sam, what has been happening with you since last we met?” He asked as they waited for the waiter to arrive to take their drink orders.

Sam blushed immediately when Saraekiel looped his arm through hers, she tried to avoid Shae's gaze as they walked towards the Bistro. She remained silent as they walked, she was trying to get the redness to go from her lips. She didn't want anyone to notice, especially Shae whom she just met.

They arrived at the Italians Bistro in a timely fashion, Sam let Shae and Saraekiel pick their seating before she sat down. " A whole lot actually." She quipped including Shae in the conversation by making eye contact. She smiled to herself as she continued her conversation.

"Since the Oilgarchy fell everyone of a different species took a different part of the city to rule. They call them Districts. My Sire got his own District so did the Dark angels." She added in for Saraekiel which she thought would make him happy.

Shae narrowed her eyes as the Vampire started talking about the Oligarcy then raised an eyebrow when she mentioned her Sire owned one of the vampire Districts, then groaned loudly when the dark angel territory was mentioned. Bloody Zoheret again she couldn’t help but think to herself. Well at least she now understood why Saraekiel was interested in the vampire and apparently she had been right about her earlier assumption about this vampire being the reason Saraekiel was more wary of vampires recently. Not that he was scared of them just that she was tired of the constant ranting about how did vampires become so powerful and why hadn’t anyone tried to stop it and blah blah. Still Sam was an interesting creature indeed and she hadn’t missed how Sam had seemed to blush when Saraekiel had taken them by the arms earlier and had to smile at herself. Saraekiel did seem to have that effect, had even had that effect on her once and truth be told still did sometimes. Finally feeling relaxed and at ease around Sam she leaned back in her chair and watched them both without commenting.

Saraekiel ignored Shae groan at the mention of the Dark angel and focused on Sam, though he was tempted to kick her under the table just for shits and giggles. “Your Sire owns one of the territories? Is it Jake or Vomas?”he asked excitedly and a little warily. Sam was even better connected then he though which raised some questions about loyalty and trust...could he trust her...was she one hundred percent loyal to her Sire and what was their relationship exactly. Still there was no rush and he could get to those questions later. “Do you know where the dark angel ho has taken over this territory is?” He finally asked with a small hint of excitement. He couldn’t wait to speak with Zoheret...not because she was infamously famous within his own race but because he had plans...and he really wanted to talk to Zoheret about them...he also wanted to grill her over her involvement with the damn Oligarchy, if she was the Oligarch for angels that is.

Sam listened to the groans that came out of Shae's mouth, they sound of her groans told Sam a lot. Shae wasn't happy about the Dark Angels. It also gave her an insight on why Saraekiel was on the board walk in the first place. Rumor has it that this was the territory that Zoheret  was suppose to occupy but all Sam had heard was rumors. Especially rumors about Zoheret herself, most we're about her power as a Dark Angel. Now Saraekiel without knowing it gave Sam the information she was missing.

"Jake is my Sire, not Vomas." She corrected nicely on the spot. "I know her name now," she continued. "Her name is Zoheret. Rumor is she is powerful, some say she's Lucifers sister but not sure on that resource. On the down side I'm not sure where she is currently held up but I'll probably be able to find out over time." She didn't mention that Jake didn't like Zoheret, that was his opinion not Sams. Although she was slightly loyal to Jake a Ventrue had to make his or her way into the world.

Sams unusual choice of people wasn't always an accident, Saraekiel was but he was a good accident.  Sam carried blue blood in her viens. Like Jake said she had to make her own way into this world and if that meant associating with a Dark Angel then so be it. Sam knew the meaning of loyalty and trust, this was the core  of her character as well as keeping secerts. A plus for Saraekiel in the long run.

Saraekiel leaned back in his chair and steepled his fingers against his lips as he pondered the information Sam had just divulged. He didn’t know anything about Jake nor Vomas for that matter but now he at least knew Jake use to be the Oligarch for Vampires. He found the information intriguing; not that he had any idea what do with that information yet but he figured all information was worth having. Feeling it was time to build a little trust between himself and Sam he decided he would give a little tit-for-tat. “Your resource is accurate, Zoheret is Lucifer's sister” He said simply with a nonchalant shrug, making out that being such a thing wasn’t any big deal. Which to him it wasn’t as he didn’t give a damn about Lucifer and his unholy war with Heaven nor did he really care where Zoheret fitted in with it. No he was interested in Zoheret for entirely different reasons. “Its a shame you don’t know where to find her”he continued “as I really want to talk with her.” He finished with another little shrug before grinning at Sam and winking in a cheeky conspirator fashion.

Shae watched the interaction between Sam and Saraekiel with interest and amusement not missing the small almost inconspicuous flirting between the two. What was Saraekiel up to this time she couldn’t help but wonder. Amused and intrigued she caught the waiters eye and smiled at them signalling that she at least was ready to order.

Sam was taken aback a little that the simple rumors she heard about Zoheret were actually true. She was glad that Saraekiel was a little more informed than Sam originally thought, made things a hell of a lot easier when someone reliable could fill in the pieces. Besides Saraekiel himself seemed a little too causal with his answer, there was something else he was keeping for himself. She didn't blame him and perhaps over time he would reveal what he was up too, right now that seemed unlikely.

Sam caught Shae's smile that was directed to the waiter. Sam quickly addressed Saraekiel before the waiter made it too the table. "My feathery friend I could find out with a few discreet phone calls." She gave him a wink, it almost seemed like flirting but bottom line was Sam was just overly nice. Besides Sam couldn't flirt even if she wanted too, she rarely got the attention to even practice.

"Nothing for me," stopping the waiter in his tracks."Excuse me you two while I make a few phone calls." She exited the table with her phone already out of her pocket and in her hand as she made it out the door. She stood around the corner as she made a few phone calls to her somewhat reliable resources. She chatted for a few minutes with each person before hanging up, she wished she had one excellent connection but where the hell would she start looking for such a person to trust.

She made her way back to the Bistro, as she entered through the door she took off her coat to display the plaid shirt she was wearing in the colors dark blue with stripes of white and pink. She put her coat on the back of her chair and sat down with a smile on her face, "As of right now Zoheret may have control of this district but as of current date there is no current headquarters to meet." She placed her hands clasped together on her lap, it still wasn't what Saraekiel wanted to hear.

"Sorry my resources couldn't be more help but they are small and weak compared to my sires contacts or spies or whatever you want to call them." She ended on that note as she noticed she was doing most of the talking. She was sure either one of them had something to say, Shae had been very quiet up too this point while she and Saraekiel were doing most of the talking.

Shae watched Sam leave the table and couldn’t help but be intrigued with her; she wasn’t at all what she seemed. The first impression you got from Sam was if not weak then unassuming, quiet and therefore easily over looked. But Shae knew that underneath that exterior there was strength, strength of character and abilities or at least strong potential. She understood why Saraekiel; who was usually offstandish, uninterested in others and at times obnoxious to those he considered lesser then he, was actually giving her the time of day. Deciding to show a subtle sign of trust she turned to the waiter and ordered the sixteen stack lasagne with a small greek salad on the side and a bottle of water.

“You’re going to eat a sixteen stack lasagne?....All on your own? “asked Saraekiel with a cocked eyebrow and a hint of amused surprise in his voice as he waved the waiter away.

Shae looked at him darkly “Do you have a problem with that Pigeon?” she replied with a hint of a bite to her tone
.
Surprised by Shae’s tone Saraekiel cocked an eyebrow at her and switched to a telepathic communication thread. “Problem?” he asked dryly.

“I’m pissed at you for not telling me about Sam, not one single mention of her over the last few months.” She replied a little heatedly.

Saraekiel chuckled softly before answering. “You sound like a jealous girlfriend. I didn’t mention her because I didn’t see the point. I honestly didn’t think I would see her again. “ he finished with a slight mental shrug.

“Kiel!” She retorted hotly in disbelief “That little vampire is a treasure trove, in herself and for her contacts, you should have stuck by her like yellow on gold. Damn it you should be mining her like a pioneer during a gold rush. By the Dark Goddess, you so need a bloody Keeper.”

Saraekiel grinned widely at Shae then turned his attention back to Sam as she rejoined then at the table. “Hmmm yes, that's pretty much what we had found out too.”he shrugged after Sam finished telling them the little bit of information she had gleamed. “Its why we were here, in the hope we might just bump into making the rounds or something.”he finished lamely with a shrug.

Finally feeling comfortable to talk in front of Sam, Shae turned to Saraekiel in exasperation “Why are you so eager to meet with this Zoheret sugar?” She asked before smiling softly as her eyes shimmered with wicked amusement “What...you hoping to have some wild pigeon sex with her?”

Sam tipped her head towards Saraekiel's answer, he must have been disappointed when he was unable to find Zoheret. Although Sam was sure at some point and time the two would meet but the question was when they would meet. For now Sam put that thought out of her mind, it wasn't her place to ask what business Saraekiel had with Zoheret. She went to go open her mouth when Shae bet her to the punch, Sam was glad she did.

Sam burst out laughing at Shae's blunt statement, "I'm sorry but that was funny." Sam was starting to warm up to Shae. Somehow Sam knew that wasn't the real reason Saraekiel was looking for Zoheret. Oh the other hand Shae's statement of wild pigeon sex brought a cruel smile to her lips as she looked at Saraekiel.

"Correct me if I'm being a little personal. How does one fuck with well you know." She pointed towards his back letting him know she was talking about his wings.  Sam hoped she didn't go to far with Saraekiel by somewhat taking Shae's lead.

Shae snorted in amusement at the look on Saraekiels face as he looked at Sam in mock affront.

“With a lot of innovation and imagination. “ he replied dead pan, the only indication of his amusement was the raised eyebrow and slight twitching of his lips. Then with a wicked grin he leaned in over the table slightly and asked “How do you do it without....you know?” he finished with a pointed look towards her back and a devilishly wicked grin.

Sam glanced her way over to Shae, she was glad that Shae was amused and not offended by her being a little personal. Sam smiled at Sarakiel's answer, it was a little short but it was to the point she could tell in his voice. Then when Saraekiel turned the question back on her she wasn't surprised in the least. Although he probably wished he wouldn't had, this situation reminded her of the conversation she had with Lisa-Joe and Bryant a while ago.

"If you must know," she set her arms up on the table loosely crossed. "I wouldn't know what it's like actually. Frankly, I found other things that were worth more my while than having sex." She giggled, oh this was going to be an interesting reply. She was watching for an subtle reactions that would be over looked by a normal person before she continued.

"Besides I'm sure sex with a wingless pigeon would be a lot less interesting than doing it with a winged pigeon." There were a few people near by but Saraekiel and Shae would get the reference, a sly smile crossed her lips as she waited for the two to speak.

Shae almost gasped in shock as what Sam said finally registered. “Oh Sugar.”she said with genuine sadness “Haven’t you ever heard George Michael's song Sex....you know the one that says, Sex is wonderful, Sex is good. Not everybody does it, but everyone should. Its not just a song  its a fundamental truth sent by the gods themselves to be delivered to mans ears. “She finished with a soft dramatic sigh then sat back and shook her slightly in disbelief and sorrow.

Sarakiel just looked at Shae and shook his head at her melodrama though he had to agree with her it was a damn shame if what Sam said was true...how the hell did she become a vampire without experiencing one of lives most natural instinctual acts. “Well,” he said with a small wicked grin in response to her question “Winged or not, the act is pretty much the same as it doesn’t require the use of such appendages.” Here he grinned broadly at Sam “Though it can add to the foreplay when used appropriately.” leaning ever so slightly towards the vampire he breathed out an invisible, small, playful, miasma of lust and attraction before seductively adding “ Why Fangs did you want to try it out?”

Sam looked at Shae with a weird smile as she dramatically went off on how sex was so good. She took Shae's advice that with a grain of salt, after all she'd been in university for almost a decade and she was familiar with all those sex scene's. Mainly because the first four years of university was nothing but a drunken fuck fest of catching god knows what disease, she had been lucky enough to be kept out of that scene because she was so scared to explore the city or the university at the time. She shrugged her shoulders at Shae as if it was no skin off her back, there would be a time when Sam would explore that part of herself but not yet.

Sam listened to Saraekiel's answer and took in notice that he was leaning in a little too close. When she was about to answer him a strange feeling washed over Sam, like water hitting a brick wall. Sam wouldn't know lust if it her right in the face with something big and black. She shook her head a little to try and get rid of the feeling but it stayed with her conscience. What the hell, she thought as she noticed Saraekiel's luscious lips. At that moment she wanted to kiss then, grab him by the back of the neck and press his lips against her own. That soon passed when Saraekiel asked Sam if she wanted to give it a try.

Sam burst out laughing, her secret weapon but she still under the effects of Saraekiel's spell," Oh god no! Have you looked at me real closely, who the hell wants to fuck this. I have more scars and craters in my face than the moon, my hands are callused and along with other things." Things that didn't have to be mentioned but she gave him a look of interest, she also still felt really strange. Almost like when Jake used presence on her to make her fight back with will power, still she was feeling real weird and it was starting to show. Suddenly Sam felt a little uncomfortable and gave them both a shy smile.

The loud whack from the sound of Shae slapping the side of his head started Saraekiel enough that he jumped slightly in his seat. “What the Hell Shae?!” he half yelled at the Shifter Voodoo Priestess.

“Leave her alone Kiel.” Shae said with earnest intensity “You invited her to join us and therefore she is under your protection and has guest rights,” she hissed angrily at him. She may not have as many weird customs as Saraekiel but she had some and guest rights had been an old and honoured custom within her family, a custom she intended to honour. This wasn’t the first time Saraekiel and her had had words over it, he was an Angel and as a race they tended to be arrogant and elitist, believing they had a right to do what they wanted when they wanted and though this was usually balanced with compassion, empathy and kindness in Light Angels, Dark Angels for the most part tended to lose that balance, either during their Fall or if not then when they Turned. Saraekiel wasn’t as bad as most and usually Shae was indifferent to his games but there was a line. You don’t share a meal or invite people to you house and then turn around and betray their trust in your hospitality.

“Sheesh Shae. Relax” Saraekiel grumped as he rubbed his ear “It’s not like I was going to do anything to her.” he said as he turned his attention back to Sam

“Then why do it?” Shae asked, anger still ripe in her voice.

Saraekiel smiled softly, slowly as he almost whispered to himself as he leaned forward towards Sam. “To see if I could, to see if it would work.” He said as he breathed out softly using Clarity to clear away the residue of his lust spell. He remembered well Sams showing of her resilience ability and he had wanted to see if she was resilient to emotional manipulation as she was to physical. “I’m sorry Sam,” he said as he sat back into his seat. “I owe you an explanation; Fire isn’t my only ability. “ he said with a small smile “ You should be fine now, I cleared away the small lust spell I put on you.” Then because he hadn’t liked what she had said about herself earlier he looked at her intently. “You are very attractive Sam and desirable, do not doubt it.” He grunted softly as Shae kicked him under the table causing him to turn and glare at her before turning his attention back at Sam; ignoring Shae’s own glare in return. “and Shae is right,”he said with a small amount of reluctance; not wanting to admit in front of Shae that she was right or that after living with the woman for more then a century he too felt a little bad about breaking Guest Rights. “I had no right to do that to you without first asking or explaining what I intended. “ he added before grinning devilishly, his grey eyes alight with unrepentant mischief as he gave a little shrug. “What can i say, I’m an impulsive creature.”

Sam didn't jump like Saraekiel but she defiantly had eye's that were wider than cabbages right now, she had no clue what the was going on between the two. Sam little by little sat back in her chair away from the heated discussion they were having, that smack on the ear sure looked like it hurt. Her hands folded neatly in her lap as she listened to Shae go off on something called guest rights, she never heard someone call simple hospitality guest rights. Shae was full of surprises, even though she didn't say much her actions spoke louder than words. The anger that Shae was showing towards Saraekiel meant that she was not a push over by any means, she liked that in a woman. Sam herself couldn't stand someone who didn't have a back bone, shifting her hands slightly in her lap Saraekiel caught her attention again. She couldn't believe what Saraekiel had done, he thought Shae was scary and the look of a half pissed vampire was smacked across her face.

"You should close your eyes so I can punch you in the face," she gritted through her teeth. In on hand she couldn't blame Saraekiel, on the other hand he knew better. Sam herself also kicked Saraekiel underneath the table, making sure to put a grimace on his face. Sam felt better after that and she could feel the effect of the lust spell wearing off, my god did he liked to push boundaries. She was still slightly upset when he mentioned his other abilities, she was intrigued but still a little pissed that he pushed the tiny bit of trust she had for him like that. She gave him a weak smile when he mentioned he was an impulsive being," That's something we have in common." She said a little hotly. She sighed and leaned forward closer to the table, her eyes glimmered many colors because of the lights in the Bistro. She studied Saraekiel's face long and hard as she contemplated just how sorry he really was with his little trick, it seemed genuine after a few moments she stopped staring at Saraekiel.

"Alright I believe you." Her eye's still gleaming with a hint of anger, "I'm only going to say this once. My generosity, loyalty, trust and honesty is a no fuck zone. You get one warning." She cocked her eyebrows at Saraekiel. Her anger now had subsided and it could be shown that Sam feared nothing and no one, a trait that could either end your life or help your way through it.

Saraekiel sat back and considered the situation after Samantha finished with her warning and he had to admit that she had a point and was right to be annoyed with him; if someone who he was trying to build some sort of relationship with had done that to him, well, lets just say he would have done a hell of a lot more then kick and glare at them.

“You are totally right Samäntha, what i did was nearly unforgivable.” He said with earnest. “From this point on there will be no more tricks, no games between us, truth and trust are to be the mortar of our relationship.” Saying such he took up a knife fro the table and pierced the center of his palm slightly with the tip of it, causing a bead of blood to form there. “With my blood I offer Friendship and Loyalty to you. ”He said formally but with little fanfare as he stretched his hand out towards her. “If you accept the gift of my blood bond, ”he continued with a small smile “then you offer the same. Make no mistake , this gift and bond will be binding.” he admonished with some seriousness before flicking his gaze to the small drop of blood in his hand then back to Sam and smiled slightly, realizing the offer of blood might be a little strange and embarrassing to a vampire. “You don’t have to lick it off.” he explained, trying to ease any possible discomfort or sense of intimacy such an act was rumoured to be for vampires. “You can if you wish just scoop it off with a finger and  suck it off that way.” he said with a small wicked smile.

Shae smiled slightly in pleasure as Saraekiel offered one of his extremely rare and earnest  apologies only to have her eye pop open in shock as he offered her a formal and binding bond of friendship, as far as she knew she was the only other person he had ever offered it to.

Sam was transfixed on the small dot of blood that remained perfectly beaded in Saraekiel's palm. No one was close to their table but she couldn't let him do this with him knowing the danger of what he was innocently offering to Sam. She closed his palm with her rough hands, the hands of a working woman. She gave him an apologetic look of shame as she directed his out stretched hand onto the table, she was silent for a moment as she held his hand. Saraekiel needed to know about the effects of something her brother Scott called a blood blond, they were still close. Even after the fiasco he made at the opening of Ventrue, idiot brother of hers.

"Saraekiel please do not take offense," her voice was very soft. "Blood sharing or bonding in my clan is something that is planned, it's an emotionally intimate experience. I am not rejecting your gift. I am stating that what you offer maybe more than what you are bargaining for in the future." She looked at Shae, her pleasure was duly noted and Sam felt as if she could give her a lesson in her clan and their ways of blood sharing. She had no clue if Shae would be delighted or sickened at the information Sam was about to give.

She looked deeply into his smoky grey eyes, "Blood bonding would give us a link to each other and I'm not sure you want that with me." She started off slowly, "In our blood we have traces of something called vitae, our essence if you will. The traces of vitae found in our blood will connect us and any emotions, or secret feelings, or desires, even are thoughts would no longer be private for you or me. It's difficult to break but the blood bond can weaken over time if we don't share blood. Not only that it's possible that you might get enthralled or overly fascinated with me over time." She averted her gaze from him for a second before she continued,"If your truly serious about this offer I cannot allow you to make it while flying blind." Sam was showing that she could be trust worthy, giving him a moment to think.

Her blood was a serious matter and if Saraekiel was still serious about his offer they would need more blood than just a pin prick in his palm. Then the waves of emotions hit her about Jake as she waited for Saraekiel's answer. Would Jake kill her? No. Would she be beaten? Yes. Would be watched like a hawk? Absolutely. Was she even considering the notion of this... yes, yes she was and that was the scary part. She lapsed into her own deep thoughts, still holding Saraekiel's soft hand in her own two rough hands.

She was impulsive and her rigid thinking was setting in for the first time in a few months, her thinking was she was different and always would be. Sam in the womb was bestowed a major flaw, her brain had fully developed but the lobes that made up the brain had been deformed, causing her to have multiple metal illnesses growing up. She was a horrible and angry child when she was a young mortal but that had subsided over much practice and beating back most of her impulses. Now she knew vampire was her species but that didn't dictate what her character was in this life. Jake was going to beat her for sure, she wasn't sure about the others in her family. Then again Sam would always be different, literally and just maybe she was also meant for a different path than she or Jake had envisioned for herself.

Shae sat back and watched the proceedings with interest but decided to stay out it, this was a big decision for them both and knew instinctively that there would be some interesting repercussions for them both, but probably more so for the vampire as Saraekiel tended to answer only to himself and cared not at all about the opinion or rules of anyone else. Sam on the other hand, that she wasn’t too sure about.

Saraekiel smiled slightly as Sam folded his hand over and proceeded to tell him about vampire blood bonding. It was interesting but that’s not what he was offering, he had no interest in drinking vampire blood and didn’t want the depth of the connection Samantha seemed to be hinting at.

“You misunderstand Samantha...it is not a vampire blood bonding I am talking about” he said with a small smile.”I have no need, nor desire for such a thing. No...I am only offering a slight mystical bond if you will, with me. “ he continued with a wry grin. “and trust me...a drop of blood is enough, it’s just a token really, a physical symbol, nothing more, but it will ensure we can never betray each other, not by force or consent.” Which was the main reason he was offering it to Samantha, by taking the token of blood which was imbued with a little of his angelic essence Samantha would be unable to betray him in anyway, not by deed or thought or by force. It didn’t make her enslaved to him or bind her emotionally to him; in a way what he offered was protection for them both; protection from each other and from outside forces.

“ It will mean I have marked you as a friend and therefore will never again be able to do to you what i did earlier without your permission first.”he explained with soft intensity and honest sincerity as he continued speaking.  “In other words...I cannot emotionally manipulate you without your prior consent. Setting you on fire on the other hand is completely allowed.”he said with  a flash of amusement flashing in his grey eyes as a wicked grin tugged at his lips. “Do you accept?”he asked as he once again opened his hand, the small drop of blood still perfectly formed in the centre of his palm glinted softly in the moonlight.

Sam came back to reality as Saraekiel gave his answer, she felt a little embarrassed that she had taken things out of context. But when it came to sharing blood Sam was very careful, she didn't want anyone to be emotionally bonded the way her and Jake were for life. No, that would be meant for someone that was very special in her life. What Saraekiel was proposing seemed interesting and less dangerous than the blood bond that the vampires of her bloodline had experienced. She gave him a small smile about lighting her on fire. She looked at the red bead pf blood in his hand, he had been truthful in his words about what this bond would mean for both of them. She looked over her shoulder, to make sure the waiter wasn't coming towards the table. She let go of his hand and laid it back on the table, she couldn't believe she was doing this.

In one quick swoop with her finger she took the bead of blood from his palm, she smeared it on her bottom lip and just as quickly Sam folded her lip inward and with her tongue she licked the blood off her lip. It was done and she couldn't go back now. She wasn't sure if she was suppose to feel anything after she took his blood, nor was she sure if Sam was suppose to offer her blood as well. When Saraekiel didn't say anything at first she looked at him with questionable eyes. Her own hands made it's way to her side of the table and dangled on the edge.

"Is that it? Or do I offer mine now?" She wasn't sure about this type of blood bond. It was all very new to her but she took comfort that Shae was also here and she had witnessed this while event. Jake or wouldn't know about this for a long time, at least until their relationship was more solid than what is was right now. She pushed that thought in the back of her mind and she focused on Saraekiel and Shae.

Saraekiel grinned as he sat back into his chair. “No that's it, no bangs, no whistles, no fanfare. But at least I now feel comfortable with you knowing my actual name. “ he said with a wryly grin. “I had meant to destroy that id card you found in my wallet a long time ago. The name I use is Kiel. “he finished with a shrug.

“Wait!”Shae said with shocked surprise. “Sam knows your actual name...your Angelic name?” Shae couldn’t quite believe what she was hearing. This vampire had actually known his name and he had let her live. This was beyond unusual and into the land of incomprehensible miracles. It wasn’t that she cared Sam knew Saraekiels name, after all she knew it as well, it was just so out of character for Saraekiel to let someone he didn’t really know and wasn’t or at least hadn’t been in his small circle of confidants to know his name and not kill them out of hand. He was just that paranoid and obsessed over the secrecy of his precious name that this situation was, well, surprising to say the least. Which then made her wonder how Samantha had gotten Saraekiel to trust her so easily. Sitting back she quietly watched Sam with slightly narrowed eyes, no longer sure the girl was completely trust worthy. Had she used some kind of weird vampire trick on her friend after all.

At Shae’s  outburst Saraekiel turned to her with a small tight grin. “It’s your fault. Who brought me the wallet in the first place, who got the id and had that name put on it as a joke because she thought it would be funny to watch me go chase down everyone involved with its creation and....remove that knowledge from their minds? “he asked with a small uplift of his eyebrow.

Remembering the incident well Shae smiled and shrugged indifferently as she lounged back into her seat. “Yes, well “she said in her soft sultry tone. “It had been amusing you have to admit.”

His explanation explained how Sam had learned of it but it didn’t explain why she wasn’t dead, unsure what to think about this whole situation she decided that Sam was someone to keep an eye on after all. She didn’t think she was a threat or a danger to either of them but she most definitely had some kind of pull on her dark angelic friend and she found that unsettling.

Sam opened her mouth to ask what he meant by his real name. Shae beat her to the punch and she fell silent as the two duked it out in words. Sam felt as if she was left in the dark, what about his name? What was so special about knowing an angels name. Feelings of a confusion plagued her mind, if Saraekiel's name was so important why hadn't he corrected her that at the club.

Then she met Shae's eyes, those eyes that screamed she found Sam untrustworthy. Oh yes she knew that look, problem was she was that good with people. Sam raised her eyebrows at Shae as if to say, your jumping to conclusions. That was short lived when the two gave light to the joke Shae had played on Saraekiel. Didn't seem very funny if Saraekiel cherished his name so much, she especially wasn't amused about removing knowledge from some ones mind. That really upset her, then the food came and she was glad.

The waiter set down the food in front Shae, Sam waited till the man walked away from the table. She was itching  for some fresh air. She had a pack of smokes in her jacket and she used that to escape for a bit. "Excuse me I'm just going to step out for a smoke. I'll be back." She exited quite quickly not sure if anyone would follow, she returned to the corner she made those phone calls earlier.  She lit the smoke with haste taking in a deep drag, still a little upset.

Was Saraekiel or Kiel going to erase her mind? She hoped not then again what would stop him? If he could light her on fire which was less funny now, could or would he erase her mind a whim. She shook her head as she slowly smoked her menthol cigarette. She would wait for a bit until her thoughts were in order. She was pretty sure no one was coming to check on her, she wasn't sure how to feel about that.

Shae watched as Sam walked away almost hurriedly. She hadn’t missed the look the vampire had given her nor had she missed how she had become almost tense during her and Saraekiels discussion. She sighed softly and looked at her friend. “You never explained to her about your name, did you Kiel?” she asked with a hint of disapproval in her voice. True it wasn’t wise to reprimand the dark angel and she pushed the line between them just a little but she felt that line had to be pushed because Saraekiel being a dark angel meant that most times the only line he recognised was his own.

Saraekiel raised an eyebrow at She but decided to overlook her tone. They had been together for over a century now and so tended to overlook most of the things she said and did when it came to him. He also had to admit; even if only to himself that he also used her as his compass in the human world. She helped to keep him grounded and tended to lessen the potential trouble he could get himself into. Instead he turned and watched Sam, Shae was right, Sam did seem pissed and confused going by the flavour of the emotions she left in her wake. He sighed and shrugged as he turned his head back to Shea. “no i didn’t, there wasn’t time...well that's not true, I had planned to explain things to her but then I got...distracted. “ he said with an amused grin pulling at his full lips and a devilish look gleaming in his sultry grey eyes.

Shae shook he head as she stood up. “I’ll go talk to her, besides...it’s time we girls had a chat.” She added as she pushed her chair back, catching the floor slightly with the legs as she did so which caused the chair to make a slight but audible scraping noise as she stood up. She walked out to the front to join Sam, her walk was sensually feminine, almost slinky yet unmistakably confidant with a touch of predatory grace She stepped outside and her hair was instantly caught in the cool evening breeze, making strands of it twist and spin about her as she looked around for Sam. Spotting her at the corner she slowly walked over, enjoying the scent of the sea and the blue silvery light cast by the full moon above.

“You going to share that? “She asked meaning the cigarette in Sams hand. It wasn’t the greatest conversation opening in the world but then Shae wasn’t the best girl talker in the world either.

Sam looked up in surprise, "Yeah sure long as you don't mind menthol." She handed the smoke off to Shae, she was the last person Sam would think to just check up on her. She was silent for a few moments not knowing what she should say to break the silence. Sam at first was shy with new people and she was slow to warm up to anyone. Sam was feeling the pressure so she turned to Shae and gazed at her with her silver grey eyes.

"You ate quickly. Was the food good?" Sam asked trying to make small talk with Shae. Not wanting to be rude and leaving the both of them silent. However Sam had a slight feeling Shae was out here for a reason and it wasn't to make small talk.

Shae put the cigarette to her lips and inhaled, it had been awhile since she had had a smoke and the first drag reminded her why. Exhaling she passed the cigarette back to Sam and smirked “I have no idea, I didn’t eat...no doubt our winged pigeon is gorging on my dinner as we speak.” She shrugged indicating it was of no real import before deciding the screw the small talk and just get down to business. “I wanted to come out here and talk with you, you seemed upset earlier and well...”She looked at Sam and smiling softly she raised her eyebrow questioningly. “He has never explained the....errr....importance of his name, has he? And I figured you might have some questions. “She said with another wry smile “Saraekiel as I’m sure you’ve noticed isn’t the most forthcoming when it comes to answering questions, though he has no problem expecting answers to the ones he asks,”

Sam graciously took the cigarette back from Shae, she didn't seem to enjoy the cancer stick and quite frankly Sam couldn't blame her at all. She took another slow puff off her smoke as she listened to Shae cut the crap and get to the point. She liked that in a person and Shae was right Sam was a little upset over what had been said at the table. Sam thought she had hid her emotions quite well as she left the Bistro but it was obvious that wasn't the case. She looked at Shae with soft eyes, she wasn't good at talking with strangers let alone about someone she had only met once a few months before.

"Well," she started. "Mainly I was upset because erasing someone's mind to me is not funny." She took another drag of her smoke. "I mean, I have a discipline called dominate," she was slow to start. "Dominate is a combination of willpower, intimidation and manipulation. It affects the judgment and mental functioning of the target, so basically if I told you to walk off a cliff you would have to obey. Unless your will power is stronger than mine." She gave Shae a small sly smile.

"Also when I get older I can use Dominate to erase minds but for me I would never want to do that to anyone just for a joke." Jake said that one day she would have to do it if she was out feeding. Like Jake said, "We vampires have to hide their existence from the ignorant." For now when Jake and Sam got the time to hunt together which was rare, he would do the erasing minds thing. Jake told her that it would be a long time before she could use dominate but Sam kept that to herself.

"I do have one question Shae," taking a puff of her smoke, "Am I in danger for knowing Sa- I mean Keil's real name?" That was the question. Her next sentence was a statement. "And I'm not sure what you mean by him not being forth coming. When I first met him we asked each other questions, tit for tat he called it and I thought he was quite forth coming." Maybe in time Sam would know what Shae meant about Saraekiel not being forth coming but Sam thought he was forth coming, at least for now.

Shae leaned against the wall with her shoulder and she faced the young vampire and listened intently as she expressed her fear and her abilities, she frowned slightly as she became intrigued and a little worried after hearing about a vampires ability of mind control and manipulation. No one likes the idea of being mentally controlled or having their minds messed with and although she had no doubt she had a strong will and even stronger mental shield with a few protective mind tricks of her own, there is always someone stronger and better skilled then you and vampires she had heard only got stronger as they aged.

She smiled amusedly as Sam asked her if she was in danger. Yes she had a right to be worried…Saraekiel liked to portray himself as a pretty boy rebel with some small tricks up his sleeve when in fact he was deadly, an agent of chaos and ruthless. He was an angel and like most he though felt he answered to no one and acted accordingly. If Saraekiel had wanted her gone she would already be dust.

“No Sam…if he had wanted to do something to you, it would already be done” she said in a slightly amused tone. ”And he doesn’t exactly wipe people’s memories, he thinks leaving gaps in peoples minds tends to raise more questions than not, plus he doesn’t really have that power” she reassured Sam with another smile as she tucked her arms around herself. The temperature had certainly gotten chilly and she hadn’t dressed for a cold night and was starting to feel it. “All he can do is remove knowledge of his name from people…so they remember everything else, they just can’t remember his name; they’ll remember he had given it to them but even under torture, hypnosis, mind control or whatever, his name is unattainable. He completely removes the knowledge of his name from their minds. That’s why he gave you a drop of his blood…” She looked at Sam quizzically. ”Didn’t you feel the power in it? That power will prevent you from being able to say or think his full name…you know it but you will never be able to express it without his permission, no one else can get it from you, not by force or manipulation or by your free will. It’s his name you understand and he has complete control of it. Its why he is so paranoid over it and why from now on all you will be able to do is refure to him as Kiel” She said with a small shrug then tilted her head as she looked at Sam, wondering if she had any idea of the potential power names of such creatures granted someone and figured she probably didn't. Vampires were still human in a sense, becoming a vampire didn’t make them other exactly. Sighing softly she decided to try and explain. “Angels like the majority of supernaturals exist or originate on a different plane of existence and so like Fae and Demons and Elementals and Spirits and what have you, can be summoned and even controlled by someone who has knowledge of their true names. “ She said simply with a wry smile “ The fact that humans were given the ability to summon and control all creatures including angels was one of the reasons that angels revolted against heaven and why angels have a love/hate relationship with you/them.” She continued with a smile as her eyes crinkled and flashed with her amusement. “The fact that vampires were humans and seem to think they are now the top of the supernatural food chain really pisses them off.” She finished with a small chuckle as she pulls her coat tighter around herself.

“ As for Kiel being open handed with his questions and answers…” She said as she quirked an eyebrow at Sam. “Does he do so freely or is there always a price?” she asked with a wry smile.

Sam nodded her head at Shae as she explained if Saraekiel wanted to do something he would have done it already. This put Sams mind slightly at ease; she took a last drag on her cigarette before stamping it out into the ground with her foot. She intently listened to Shae as she explained Saraekiel had a lesser power than what Sam possessed. No one liked the discipline dominate and she didn’t blame those people, sometimes she didn’t like having the discipline herself.

Sam took a moment to think when Shae asked about her inability to think or say Saraekiel’s name, she almost said it a moment ago but out of respect she stopped herself and referred to him as Kiel. Sam listened to Shae explain the true meaning in a name, Sam knew all about that but she kept quiet and she let Shae speak. Sam had a massive book collection on the paranormal and the supernatural but once again she kept that to herself.

Sam looked up at Shae with a small glint in her eye as she tried to carefully explain what she was feeling. She wasn’t sure if the blood bond had worked correctly or better yet maybe her won mind had warped the blood bond, after all she was born with a regular sized brain but the lobes within her brain were deformed. She hated her brain sometimes, nothing went as planned and there was always some sort of a hiccup.

“I feel as if I still have the some free will to think or even say his name,” she started off in a shy voice, “But if someone I didn’t or did know asked for his true name I feel I couldn’t do it, even if I didn’t have this bond it’s not right to give out someone’s name. Why just moments ago I almost said his name in front of you but I forced myself to stop.” This was already starting to sound really bad.

“Perhaps this has to do with this thing,” she knocked on her head with a smile, “Perhaps we should discuss this with Sar- sorry Kiel. I didn’t think there would be complications with this blood bond.” This must have something to do with her brain; even Jake said at times said her disciplines could manifest in an unusual way. If Shae and Saraekiel were to trust her, this bit of personal information had to come out.

“Let’s go back before Kiel comes for us. Or better yet eats your food.” Sam took off her jacket and handed it to Shae, “Here, put this on before you freeze.” Vampires didn’t get cold anymore and she didn’t answer Shae’s question about a price, Sam already knew all knowledge had a price and some prices were smaller than others so Sam didn’t mind. Sam hoped by no answering Shae would know that Sam had a bit of a caviler attitude.

“After dinner all of us will go for a walk and I will explain everything.” She let Shae take the lead letting her lead there way back to the table. “Did you miss us?” She directed at Saraekiel who she must remember to refer to him as Kiel from now on. “Oh by the way we have need to do an experiment after dinner.” She gave Kiel a smile but in the back of her mind she was thinking, you better not kill me ass hole.

Saraekiel speared the last of Shae’s lasagne with the fork and popped it into his mouth. Fangs was right, it really was good and if Shae had been faster with her girl talk she could have found out how good it was too. Spotting the two women walking back towards him he grinned and leaned back into the chair with a self-satisfied smirk as he looked up at Sam.

“Miss you?” he asked in response to her query “ I was about to send out a search party, but got distracted by the lasagne….you were right Fangs, it was fantastic.” he said smugly as he looked up at Shae with an upraised eyebrow, fully expecting her to go into a tirade but turned back to Sam and quirked a brow at her.

“What kind of experiment are we talking about here?” he asked as he got to his feet, ignoring the scowl directed at him by Shae as she looked at her empty plate then back to him

Sam's hand slowly made it's way towards her mouth, her lips twitching furiously as she tried to cover her smile.  Sam believed that Saraekiel, that feathery devil, was capable of doing such an act but poor Shae. Sam at least thought Shae would be a little more emotional over her food being eaten out from under her nose.

Sam put her hand down, "Well I'm glad you enjoyed that," drawing her sentence out. Not sure what else to say to the cheeky devil Sam turned to Shae.

"If you like Shae we could re-order it for pick up," giving Saraekiel a raised eyebrow. "And we can pick it up later." She hoped Shae wouldn't feel too bummed out. Besides Sam would even pay for Shae's food since Saraekiel pulled a dick move.

"As for you go pay your bill so we can get to the fun." Sam said to Saraekiel, her arms crossed and the corner of her mouth twitched. She was purposely ignoring his question about the experiment and the answer would come in time. In all actuality she was expecting him to just do a dine and dash, she wouldn't put it past him.

Shae  looked down at her salad strewn plate then back at Saraekiel and smiled pleasantly at him as she replied to Sams inquery. “ No it’s okay Sam, Kiel here can repay me by taking me to Echelon.” She said, smiling sweetly as she looked at Saraekiel with a sharp gleam.

“Echelon?!” Saraekiel almost hissed the word out. He had heard of the restaurant of course; who hadn’t? It had the highest price tag in the city and that was saying something. “Why in the name of all that is unholy would I want to go there?”

“You may not want to Kiel, but I do” she said haughtily as she flicked her hair back behind her shoulder “and it was my dinner you just scoffed like a starving street urchin, therefore you still owe me a night out.” She said as she raised an eyebrow querulously at the dark angel.

Saraekiel frowned slightly as he narrowed his eyes. “One lasagne does not equal a night out at Echelon. Why not just get take out like Fangs said?” he replied derisively..

“Because Pigeon” she replied with a slightly smug tone as she gracefully slid her hand against his cheek, tapping it twice gently. “ I do not do take out.” She finished, her voice dripping with amused satisfaction. Smiling she removed Sam’s jacket from around her shoulders and offered it back to her with her apparent amusement of the situation glinting sharply in her eyes.

Saraekiel exhaled sharply through his nose, huffing disgruntledly as he glared balefully at Shae’s turned back before storming past them both towards the exit.

“Aren’t you forgetting something my little peacock?” Shae called after him, her amusement now richly evident in her voice as she offers her arm out conspiratorially towards Sam so that they could exit the room linked together..

Saraekiel turned slowly, his smokey grey eyes flashing darkly at them from across the room. If Shae wanted to play games well that was just fine with him, he liked games but he played to win. He smiled slowly back at them.

“Oh?” He called back softly across the room “What exactly have I forgotten this time?” he asked as he raised an eyebrow at them

“The bill Kiel” Shae replied with just a hint of suspicion. She didn’t trust that look in his eyes.

Saraekiel spots the waiter walking towards them carrying the bill with a harried look on their face and smiled sharply “ Ah yes the bill…Sam did mention something about that.” He flicked his gaze between them and smiled again.” Maybe you should bring Fangs to our house…we can do this experiment there.” He said, his eyes heavy as his smile turned sharply up at the corners of his mouth transforming it into a mischievous grin. He turned and continued towards the door as the table he had just vacated turned into a pillar of fire behind him, the table cloth dripping crimson flames onto the floor..

Sam watched as the two bickered back and forth over the meal that Saraekiel had eaten.  Sam graciously accepted her jacket back, putting it on but not zipping it up. These two were a weird pair but not in a bad way, they kind of argued like an old married couple.

Sam was surprised when Saraekiel put up a fight about going to Echelon, she thought that was his kind of place. Fancy, sophisticated and expensive as hell. Maybe something happened in the time that had passed between them meeting she never bothered to ask.

She was too stunned when Saraekiel mentioned the bill, before grabbing Shae's arm she pulled out her wallet and slapped some money on the table.

"There bill is looked after let's go." She grabbed Shae's arm not paying attention to what Saraekiel was about to do next. Sam exited the bistro and as she looked back through the window to see if Saraekiel was coming, she noticed the table they were sitting at was on fire.

Sam stopped dead in her tracks for a few seconds, holy shit that was unexpected. The whole bistro wasn't on fire but the staff scrambled to understand what just happened, most of them with confused looks on their faces.

"You naughty boy," Sam declared to Saraekiel as he exited the building.  Now moving along once again with Shae wrapped up in her right arm.

"As for the experiment it will have to be done in public. Perhaps one day I can visit your home." She said with a smile as she wondered what his house did look like outside and inside.

"For now we'll just walk the conditions must be perfect to do this experiment. I'll let you know when it's happening." She knew that Saraekiel liked to mess with peoples heads and in a way she doing it to him but politely.

Sarakiel stopped and looked at Sam with an upraised eyebrow* “ my my look who is tying to take charge? It’s been a long while since anyone has had the audacity to give me orders.” He said with dry humour. “Somewhere public hmmm? Why is that?” He asked suspiciously as he turned slightly and looked back at the bistro they had just exited, yells of fright and confusion was wafting out and mingling with the night air. Smiling darkly he concentrated a little and suddenly their were screams of terror billowing out of the bistro along with smoke and small tongues of orange and crimson flames. It wasn’t a big fire and he doubted anyone would get hurt, not that he cared if anyone did. No…he didn’t to attract attention. Zoheret could hardly ignore this little show of power, not in her own territory anyway. He was tired of searching for her, let her come to him. If she didn’t well then…Maybe the area was in need of a new leader and he was more then willing to step up to the plate.

“ Fine , fine Fangs…we will do it your way this time…but not tonight hmmm.” He said as he turned back to her with an amused smile and arched eyebrow. “ I’d say this place has become a little too hot for any experiments tonight don’t you think?” Chuckling darkly he dropped the illusion of humanity he usually cloaked himself in and spread his black, crimson splashed wings and flapped them in the cool evening breeze  “ We live at Dark Haven Estate, let me know when and where you want to met up for this experiment Fangs” he said nonchalantly. “ In the meantime….have a good night won’t you.” Then with a few gusty flaps of his wings he flew up into the night sky and disappeared from few.

“ Shit!” Shae exclaimed softly as small flames started to billow out of the bistro behind her. She tuned to berate Kiel as to blink as he unfurled his wings and took off into the night sky.” Ummmm” she said softly as she looked at sam. “ if I was you I’d get out of here as quickly as possible. I doubt the fire will burn much longer….” She said dubiously as she turned back to the bistro.” I mean if he wanted to kill those people the place would be an inferno.” So saying the flames suddenly died and the staff of the bistro started to appear shortly after, coughing and spluttering onto the boardwalk. “ Mmhmmm” Shae said as she narrowed her eyes suspiciously.” He’s up to something…Time to fly I think.” She turned and smiled at Sam.” Twas nice to meet you Sam.” She said as smoke from the fire stated to drift around them. “ call me” So saying she quickly told Sam her number then smiling softly and using the smoke as a sort of cover she transformed into a raven and with a a few beats of her wings and a cawl she flew off after Saraekiel.

Sam only smiled at Saraekiel when he made his statement about Sam taking charge, she wasn't trying to make it seem like she was bossing Saraekiel around. No matter, the statement had passed and she had missed her chance in answering Saraekiel. She then turned around as the confused people within the Bistro screamed while choking on the smoke. She just shook her head, what a way to make the night a little more exciting. After all Saraekiel was a Dark Angel, although to Sam he wasn't as bad as people made them seem to be.

Sam was about to detest to them about leaving, surely they could find another spot to test her theory out. Saraekiel took off into the night without warning, it was about the same time people started to pour out of the building and Sam was getting a little nervous. She looked at Shae who gave her words of wisdom, maybe it was high time they did leave before they were all identified. She gave Shae a nod and Shae gave Sam her number and she was shocked when she turned into a Raven and flew off with Saraekiel.

Sam started to run off in the direction that they two seemed to be flying, she was starting to get butterflies maybe she couldn't do this experiment, not yet at least. There relationship was new and she didn't want to push him away or have him kill her on the spot. She decided on her own that maybe she would wait for a better time.

She broke off from their flight path heading towards home, she would meet him again but when she did she would hold off her experiment for a better time. She was more curious about his mansion that he spoke of earlier and before he left her on the boardwalk. She would see him mansion but she would give him a few weeks before she contacted them again.
