Title: Just Brushed Clean Feeling
Post by: magnolia9662 on May 08, 2007, 02:02:56 PM
One, Two. Shoulder up.

The scene was set. It was beautiful. Nothing Olivia would pay attention to. If she would ever pay attention to anything. The focus of this lighthouse today would not be the gorgeous sunset, but rather the ballerina dancing on the rail of the lighthouse. A dangerous feat, but that\'s what Olivia did.

Point an\' point. Three, four.

Not entirely sure of how she ended up there, or if she even was in a normally dangerous situation, Olivia continured to dance along her railing. Olivia was fading, this beach was no good for her. The worst part was that she didn\'t even realize it. If Olivia does not take some energy out of something soon she will be sure to disappear for good this time. The sad part was that if she noticed she was vanishing, she\'d forget soon enough if she didn\'t focus on it.

This time, however, Olivia had realized, and considering she would not like to leave so soon, this deceased ballerina wanted to get down. And so, she jumped.

Storm\'s back was pressed up against the wood of the structure, delicate face hidden benieth her hood. Her dull grey eyes flickered in the fading sunlight, wind teasing the hem of her cloak.

Night had nearly swallowed the entirety of the light house. Storm hated it. As the sun sank lower she could feel her own exhaustion settle upon her like a blanket of lead. She couldn\'t remember the last time she had eaten; this sudden realization seemed to double the exhaustion.

For now she would remain hidden at the base of this old lighthouse, waiting for morning. She closed her sad eyes, leaning the back of her head against the woodwork. She exhaled slowly.

The fall was flawless. The best ever executed. Too bad no one watched it, and too bad Olivia had already forgot about it.

Step, kick, step, up.

With a flick of the wrist and a turn of the hip Olivia was dancing around again. Normally after someone made such a jump, the person doesn\'t get back up. Ever. Not Olivia though, for her vulnerable body was already at rest. And soon she was going to be losing her spectre form as well.

There isn\'t all that much energy in an old lighthouse. She was able to take some out of a few bugs here and there, but whether she liked it or not (which I assure you she did not have on her mind), she was faded. Maybe for good.

Step an\' step, slow...

Our favorite ballerina danced around the corner and paused for a moment as she stared at the stranger she found in front of her. Forgetting that indeed they were both existing, and that this person might find it odd Olivia was staring at her. But Olivia felt her energy so she went in a bit closer.

...three, four, five, six.

And with a touch on the head, Olivia picked up some of this persons energy. Not so much as to send her into a coma, but just enough for Olivia to exist a little longer. It was how Olivia got by in her life of lost thoughts.

Storm inhaled sharply, feeling energy being drawn out of her. Her eyes widened and she whirled around to find the thief, while at the same time she took a mental hold on her energy, trying to draw it back to her.

It was her energy; no one had a right to take it unless she willingly offered it to them. She wasn\'t strong enough to give substantial amounts of energy until she slept, and the gods knew she wasn\'t about to do that any time soon.

"Wh...who\'s there?" she cried out, voice small and rather frightened. Her wide eyes flashed randomly, reflecting the fear in her voice. If it wasn\'t for the sudden adrenaline rush that she got from the fear, she would have most likely passed out.

Shadows moved about in his soul, a low rumbling, a dark feeling. It felt like some mix of anger, hatred, pessimism and anguish settling deep within his being, taking root. These shadows had their claws, too, reaching out and grabbing for whatever they could to secure themselves down with.

And as much as it hurt him, Nikolai liked the pain, the inner torture. Yes, much as the shadows threatened to tear him apart, the more one side of him fell in love with the insanity of it all. The overwhelming capability of the shadows inside --the anger and hatred -- kept his face heated and stony-looking, his features an impassable mask of pale flesh, marked by piercings and perceptibly human traits.

Overhead the sky was fading to black, the half-moon relaxing in the sky, surrounded by stars he never saw in the innards of the city grime. Nikolai lost himself to the glowing disk and kept his eyes posted there, walking along through the tall grasses swaying in some kind of wind, like monsters weaving across an open plain.

A rustle of flesh against fabric, blood pounding in the veins, a shout from the Lighthouse base, a flicker of movement. The vampire stood still, his blood finding new rage. Nikolai stood watching as the mortal moved about, the movements feminine and strange, inhuman, yet alluring at the same time. And though the shadows persisted after him to reach out and kill, to react with such violence, Nikolai could feel himself staring at her through the darkness

The vampire debated his next move, whether or not to announce himself by killing this young woman outright or wait to see whether she could feel his cold gaze on her form.

Seven, eight.
Lead with the hip, follow through.

Olivia noticed the miniscule strength through this stranger\'s voice. And still feeling a bit off, Olivia went straight back in for another suction of her energy. This time with her foot, so to amuse herself as well. And so her foot rose, heading towards the woman beside her, not for a kick, but just for a tap. Maybe the person wouldn\'t mind.

Storm\'s eyes widened as she caught sight of the girl trying to steal her energy. Mentally she tried pulling it back, fear growing in her chest. Not fear of the girl, no. More of a fear of sleep. She couldn\'t sleep tonight, and this girl was taking her only means of staying awake for another night.

"...wha...what are you doing?" her eyes drilled into the eyes of the little girl, trying to put on a show of bravery when everything inside of her was trembling. She was so exhausted and this tug-of-war with energy was not something she was so keen on doing at the moment.

I can\'t spare the energy, I\'m sorry! She wanted to say, but something about the appearance of the girl stopped her. She seemed almost quite ghostlike...

Nikolai\'s eyes burned through the dark, the shadows allowing an angry smirk to press his lips, the sharp teeth and fangs exposed to the night air. He hated it. He loved it. The night embraced him and kept him secret while part of him was screaming to be known. Love. Hate. And as much as he felt the opposite views, they felt normal. This night he was getting used to the conflicting sides in his head.

He watched her more intently, her fluid movements, her palpable panic of that something around her. A glimmer of shadow near her, an image of a young being, but only an image. This mortal girl was not alone, he could see. But was this kind of creature that could escape his overly sensitive understanding of the vibe of life? He looked closer, eyes closing the distance that his feet didn\'t feel like covering.

Is that a spirit? Nikolai thought, both amused and confused at the same time. He watched for a moment more, trying to distinguish what was going on. A flicker of a dancer\'s dress, a couple of pointed toes and lifted, poised hands. And sure enough, the vampire could see the ocean through this young spirit very faintly. How odd, he mused. And it was then that his feet began to close the distance between himself and the two young women.

Storm froze, for the first time averting her attention away from the specter-like being. There was someone else, in the distance, watching them. She could feel something approaching. Expending what little energy she had, she reached out with her mind for the other\'s consciousness.

She stopped as soon as she brushed up against his mind. He wasn\'t alive, yet he had an active mind. That much she could tell. Storm withdrew immediately, feeling slightly more drained.

Glancing briefly at the spirit, she decided that it would be best to put distance between them. She backed away from the strange energy stealing girl, not wanting another contact with something she couldn\'t understand. Her eyes continued to flicker randomly, the wind stirring the black hair around her face.

Olivia put her leg down following through with her dancing. Heading straight inbetween and past her two new acquaintences and began dancing off as if they were never a part of her life. And well, actually they weren\'t.

Lead with the hip, follow through.

Dark eyes followed the small child-like form of the spirit depart. Wait, he wanted to say. Nikolai wanted to meet this child. Instead his body simply stood and watched her begin her leave, nerves in his arms acting on simple impulse as they reached out and grabbed strongly for her tiny arm. But he found that not even a vampire could grab at a ghost, as his hand passed right through the tiny limb. However, there was that feeling as though he just touched something forbidden.

He felt slightly drained after touching her. The vampire wondered if she could notice this.

Nikolai watched her for a moment more, unmoving as if frozen solid, dark hair on his head fluttering over the otherwise perfect part in the breeze off of the sea. Slowly, his gaze focused back on the mortal, well alive, near him. She seemed to be watching the ghost-child too.

"What... was that?" His voice was very quiet and not meant to be heard. He did, wonder afterwards, however, whether she could hear it.

Storm shuddered involuntarily as the spirit left. She could feel the effects of her lack of energy slowly taking over. She couldn\'t sleep though. Not tonight.

"What... was that?" The sudden voice of a new being drifted on the ocean breeze. Storm\'s eyes flickered randomly, searching the darkness for the source of the noise. Her eyes fell on a man, not far off from where she was standing.

He must\'ve been watching the whole time... she concluded in her mind. Something about this man caused her heart to thump against her rib cage. She could feel the adrenaline from her fear give her energy once again. She looked at him warily.

"...I...I don\'t know." she answered, timidly, still keeping her distance. Her lithe body quivered in anticipation.

The vampire held no patience, wanted no akinment to this creature watching the spirit. He held nothing back as his eyes bore into her almost condescendingly. Nikolai felt so... insane this night.

He stood there gazing coldly at her, trying to read her.

Mortal, yet not human. Black hair, marvelous eyes and face. White skin. Small framed. Attractive. Rebellious, for lack of a better word. Her aura screamed of something completely different, something he had never encountered before. It puzzled him and made him more interested. And not to mention that palpable grip of fear or intimidation permeating the immediate area.

I like her already, he thought to himself, circling the girl as if she were some prime cut of meat, looking at her with stony eyes. Kill her or play with her? He couldn\'t decide. Nikolai continued his path, the darkness seething out onto his skin. He wondered if he looked at all menacing to her. She was pretty, to say the least, to him. Nikolai wondered if she could sense this.

But, then again, he hated calling attention to himself by announcing anything.

Storm eyed him suspiciously. She felt caged: her mind screaming to run but her legs refusing to listen. She felt cemented to the ground. She reached out with her mind, drawing from the energy reserves seeping from the fear induced adrenaline. The threads of her consciousness drifted into the surrounding as she reached out to feel his mind. His intentions. Friend or foe.

She couldn\'t feel life from him. Emotion, maybe, but tainted with something old and not quite alive. It was difficult to even brush against something that was...dead. She shuddered, drawing back her mind quickly as though touching a burning surface. The reading must be wrong. She was so exhausted. This man circling her could not be dead. Could he?

Her eyes flickered at a quicker pace, matching her beating heart, her pounding blood. She wanted to run, or even fly away. The rate of her breathing became restricted, as though she was trying to make herself less noticeable. Although, she knew that was impossible.

It seemed almost like he was going to pounce. He was circling her like a predator and she felt quite like defenseless prey. She swallowed a whimper before it was voiced.

Nikolai could sense the girl pull away from him. And it interested him all the more. He loved the fear she offered so unwillingly. Why are you so nervous, my dear? He wanted to voice.

The pacing from him stopped and only his eyes remained watching her. "I\'m sorry, child. Are you uncomfortable with my pacing?" And without meaning to, he smiled wide and showed those terrible pearly whites which helped make him what he was. He watched her eyes as they changed around their colors. How he wished he could penetrate them, yet he found it incredibly difficult to do so. Could she know this?

And more than anything, he wanted to pierce into her mind, shake up her nerves a little bit, find out who the hell this girl was with such a presense. He almost felt threatened by her, for some reason. Yet he couldn\'t actually place why he was. Perhaps that was it. He couldnt place exactly what he was getting from her, who she was, what she was. And it irked him.

The sound of his voice brought little comfort, if any, yet had eased her mind a little. He could talk. He can\'t be dead. She rationalized the fact that she was ridiculously exhausted. This did not eliminate the fact that he was incredibly creepy. The fact that he was pacing in such a way caused her eyes to flood red to mirror her uneasy mind.\'

His smile sent a shock down her spine. He had fangs. Like her spirit form. She wondered if he lusted for blood as well, as her own craving caused her to do. She stared at him cold, trying to mask her fear from him. She inhaled slowly, touching on the first level of meditation very briefly, eyes flickering from green for a moment before they returned to red.

For awhile she was very unsure of how to answer him. The fact that he did not appear to be much older then her was confusing. He had called her child, which did not line up with his own apparent age. In the dark he seemed to be only in his early twenties. Not much older than herself. She found him attractive, but strange. Not that strangeness bothered her much, but it seemed as though he wanted something. And that thought caused her to bristle with readiness. She might be able to fend him off if he came at her...

The defensiveness of the girl made him chuckle faintly. Typically he was the one playing the guarded one. "You\'re no human. What are you?" Nikolai demanded, forgetting whatever preface he had had before. His vision was becoming sharper and his senses stronger. The need for blood, not to feed, was increasing in strength. Those shadows dwelling inside of him were consuming him. And Nikolai was letting them.

Yes, feed off of my soul, he coaxed. I want to destroy, to be unknown, to understand, to recreate and reinvent. But he could feel himself slipping at the same time as he stood staring down the bridge of his nose at this young girl.

The anger was swelling in his chest. "Answer me," he demanded again in a low and dangerous tone.

She drew back, eyes grey and hurt. She was very taken aback by this sudden outburst, but she had no choice but to endure it. She boiled inside, wanting to hurt him back but had not the power. She hated being spoken to, no, commanded in such a way. She glared at him.

"I have been called useless, ugly, human, a pathetic excuse for an Akari, a disappointing daughter and a monster." she spit the sentence at his feet, feeling a taint of her own anger beginning to leak out. Her eyes darkened. If she had the mental power right now, she would strip this man of all of his comforts, leaving his mind so vulnerable and naked that he would want to crawl into a hole and die.

She knew that she was letting her emotions get the best of her, given the fact that she was exhausted and hadn\'t meditated for several days... She continued to stare down at him, wanting to fire back the same question whose answer she didn\'t necessarily want to know.

"Spare me the sad story of your life. I\'ve heard it so many times before." He fired back at her, offering no human pity, though part of him, that swallowed, consumed, almost-human part of him felt a touch of compassion for her. But he couldn\'t show it now. The darkness was too profound, the anger too strong.

An Akari, she had said. Nikolai hadn\'t much of an idea of what that was, having never met one. It was a form of mortal though, that much he knew, had heard. But what it was he didn\'t know.

But a feeling of defiance rose from within him, a desire for danger. He took a few steps closer to her, slowly, expecting her to back away. "What are you doing out here, this far from town, on such a dark night? You could get hurt, child." He grinned wider, the fangs showing clearly now. "Do you have any idea what kind of monsters could be lurking in the shadows? Ghosts certainly aren\'t the worst..." He laughed now, almost insanely.

Storm glared, deeply cut from his lack of respect, much less sympathy. She was growing a fond hatred that yearned to blossom. She itched to transform and rip out his throat but held back...for now.

"What do you care." she spat, feeling her own fangs poking through as her eyes were consumed in black. She wanted to fly. Kill. Hatred was giving her energy that she didn\'t know existed. His insensitivity brought her anger as opposed to more fear. He was just another stupid guy.

Storm angrily pulled her cloak around her body, as though trying to keep her transformation at bay. So far she was succeeding. She stood her ground when he took a step forward, refusing to show any more weakness than she already had. She borred into his eyes, too weak to penitrate his mind or even attempt to read his emotions. Despite this, she still absorbed them. He was cold. Brooding. She didn\'t care what else at this point.

The comment slipped by him. Nothing more than the tasteless defensiveness of some sort of mortal. Nikolai ignored her as he searched her form, more interested with the shadows tracing her form. With shadows and anger brought a form of clarity he experienced often only after the kill. His sight became sharper, seeing her in a new light, the moon hanging more ominously. His ears toned into the different noises of the silence, her heart, the consistant beating of anger and adrenaline.

There was also something else about her, something so small, so slight he almost didn\'t catch it. The skin shifted faintly yet the body remained still. Something was there, beneath her skin. But what was it? He wanted to know terribly. Yet sensing it made him more interested. It made him take a step or two closer.

"Someone\'s got a secret," he sang in a low, eerie tone, hitting a slide of notes far too easily. He smiled wider, watching her, continuing, "Secrets can be dangerous..." The vampire stopped his vocal song, yet continued it telepathically.

And while he gave her only one mocking word --"darling"-- a mockery of his own followed. This game, he knew, came with its prices. Before the word was even out of his head, a mocking pain echoed the word within his own head. Yet she would never see this happening in back of steely, smiling eyes.

She couldn\'t help her fangs from showing themselves as she spoke, lucid hatred deep in her voice.

"Shut up. You don\'t have any friggin\' idea what you\'re talking about." Her eyes were consumed in black anger, traces of her skin began to purple in color, yet she held a fleshy tone still. Not a full transformation. Her wings were squirming beneath her skin.

Hell, she had secrets, but who didn\'t? She felt violated; his voice was very unwelcome and intruding inside of her mind. She shot mental daggers and drove off the echo of his telepathy with solid imaginary walls.

She could feel the welcoming energy from her half-transformed state, enough to keep up this verbal battle and enough to fend off attack. Her sharpening nails dug into the palms of her hands.

He could smell her blood changing, the skin tainting, could feel her energy changing. The insanity of it made him laugh. Her voice sounded petty compared to how her blood was reacting. It made him laugh even more.

Nikolai pressed against her boundries, taking another step towards her, less than five feet from her. Now he really wanted to know. Fangs in her mouth. What could you possible be, darling child?

"Don\'t I?" he feigned, staring her in the eyes. A challenge? He\'d take the offer any night. But did she honestly think that she could stand up to him? He gave her credit for trying, though. Oh ma chere, but how will this end? The vampire could easily take her and drain her, but did he want to? She was nice to look at if nothing else, dark and beautiful, as if some kind of muse... And besides, how much fun would that be? Why not let her struggle? He loved suffering, didn\'t he?

Somehow, Nikolai just couldn\'t make up his mind as to what end would befall her. Tick tock, tick tock! part of him said. Should she stay or should she go? To be or not to be? That is the question...

"Don\'t TEST me." Storm grit her teeth, allowing her skin to change completely as she stood her ground.

Kill him... A voice echoed inside of her mind. She could, couldn\'t she? Although, Storm was still hesitant to transform completely. Theoretically, if she did kill him after transforming, when she tried to revert to her human form again, she would surely pass out from exhaustion.

But it would be oh-so-satisfying, ripping this mouthy little bastard limb from limb. This thought made the demon in her smile as she felt herself lose control. What was a small smile became a monstrous grin. She looked him straight in the eye.

"I think I already have," said Nikolai, more to himself with satisfaction, the laughter fading down to a grin. He felt as though the upper hand were his, and in this state of mind, he believed it.

"Ah, so you\'re weakened. This thing gives you strength... Or are you simply weak?" He liked the intensity he felt coming from her stare. It was something the vampire had experienced from no other victim before and he found himself so utterly in love with it.

He wanted to tear her beautiful eyes out.

And then kiss the pain away. Her and her pretty face.

The vampire matched the intensity in her eyes. "So what\'s really beneath that thin layer of skin? Some kind of demon?" He didn\'t wait for any form of response. "Or is it just wishful thinking? Something you\'re bluffing to scare me off?"

No, he didn\'t actually believe what he was telling her. He knew it wasn\'t a bluff. The blood always tells all. And he began to wonder what it must taste like, her blood. He saw it flicker in his mind, her neck against his teeth, the mingling of emotions and understanding and life into his depraved veins that never tasted its like before.

And, quite honestly, he liked the thought of it. Nikki smirked.

As if in defiance, glossy black wings tore through her skin, shirt, and cloak; blood from the wounds sprinkling to the ground. The tares in her back healed before any more could spill.

He called you weak. Kill him. Show him our power. Like a mother, the demon in her mind cooed. Storm\'s expression wavered. She hated this form. She loved it. All of her emotion freed itself from the chains that bound it to the dankness of her inner mind.

"Weak?" she hissed in her layered voice, fangs barred viciously as if daring him to speak another word. Her powerful wings flapped angrily, gusts of wind spiraling in his direction. She allowed her nails to lengthen.

Oh the feeling of ripping flesh... she couldn\'t stand it anymore. Blood. Pain. Lust. She lunged at him fangs bared and claws ready.

His mouth opened as if to speak to her, to say something more to egg her on. The leathery black wings. The purple-tainted skin. How wonderful. How different. How extraordinary.

Yet this form was completely different, he knew, darker and more vicious. It were as if it was some kind of guard. Or dirty little secret let out of its cage. It made his cold blood rush around in his veins all the more. The thing lunged at him with claws and fangs. But he could see this far too easily.

The creature\'s movements were slow, still partially mortally controlled. Or maybe that was how it really moved. Either way, Nikolai was able to duck the swinging of the claws and the grip of the monster. A quick side-step, faster than any mortal creature could see, yet not as fast as possible. Barely did he avoid the attack. But, then again, he liked walking the line of carefulness and recklessness.

He laughed while narrowly avoiding her. He couldn\'t tell which side of her being was better: the demon side or her backside.

Storm blinked, suddenly confused by the sudden disappearance. She whirled around to face him, unsure of how he got behind her in the first place. She flicked her wings agitatedly, too angry to ponder her next move clearly.

Little fucker... If possible, her eyes gained a deeper shade of black. She could feel her aura sparking as she gathered dark purple energy in the palm of her hand. When she had roughly a handful, she took her other hand and stretched the energy, as if kneading it like dough.

Haphazardly she sent it toward him, far faster than she could run herself, intending for it to latch onto his neck.

Nikki laughed at the danger. It had narrowly missed him, a few hairs\' breadth saving him from whatever fate this girl had intended. Had he not been able to move so quickly... The thought of him being taken so easily made him both shudder and chuckle noticably.

Maybe she wouldn\'t be so easily evaded. He loved the excitement.

The vampire parried, racing around her and lunging for her throat with his own claws drawn. "Try me, princess," he mocked. "There are worse monsters than those you think are hiding beneath your bed at night!" His steely eyes pierced the darkness better than ever before as he aimed for his throat, pressing with such force, it surprised even him.

He hadn\'t wanted her blood this much throughout the night. Yet, now, his jaw ached to end this before it escalated.

His claws dug into her skin before she had the slightest chance to react to his comments. Only her eyes reverted back to their normal state, wide and shocked, flickering and drenched in fear.

Her breathing became quicker as did her heart rate. She felt her own blood pounding through her body. She was weak. So terribly weak and she hated it.

What was she to expect. With less then half of her energy and anger clouding her judgment why should she expect anything more then a quick loss.

Fearlessly she looked him in the eyes, stone cold and filled with hatred.

"Kill me." she quietly stated. Any louder and her statement could have been mistaken for a command. Her gaze remained unfaltering.

"What are you waiting for?"

Air passing through the throat in his grip, blood mixed with hatred flowing near his hand. He loved it. The feeling made his mouth water.

But the command given to him made him freeze immediately. His eyes, once blazing with anger, gazed at her with a different light, a confused and puzzled one. He held her throat with the same intensity, but debated what to do.

What exactly was this, stalemate? Nikolai searched her colorless eyes for some kind of answer. Hatred, anger, reluctant defeat? Was that possible?

For some reason, unbeknownst to himself, the sharpness began to fade and the shadows retreated slowly. And that vaguely human part of him began to appear through the darkness in him. Yet the darkness refused to give in completely.

"What..." It was all he could find to say as he gripped onto her throat, his claws digging into the soft tainted flesh.

Storm could do nothing but glare at him, eyes daring him to move in for the kill. Her spirit form was already taking a toll on her ability to stay awake. She allowed her wings to retract painfully back into her flesh, yet her skin and fangs remained as they were.

"You have my life in your hands, why aren\'t you taking it?" her voice did not waver, on the contrary it held a sort of accusatory tone, as though scolding him for not killing her already. Her black eyes did not leave his, she could see the confusion in his eyes flicker. She resisted the ludicrous temptation to grin.

Nikolai\'s contenence wavered slightly again. One part of his mind was egging him on. The shadows. Go ahead, do it. She\'s just another mortal. There are prettier ones out there than her. Her blood... take it! You\'re hungry, remember? Feed, FEED! What kind of vampire are you? Didn\'t you want to know what her blood tasted like? I think you did and now it\'s in front of you, flowing under your fingers, her fragile heart waiting to be stopped, WANTING to be stopped... so why aren\'t you stopping it?

Yet the other half, the regular half unconsumed from shadows was emerging. Use your head, Nikki. Why does she want you to end her? It\'s suspicious, Nikki. She\'s not even human! What would happen if you tried to feed from her? She probably knows what you are, Nikki. She\'s pobably counting on the fact that you WANT to feed from her. You\'ll be walking blindly into the sun, my friend. Just put her down and walk away. This isn\'t you!

His hand gripped onto her neck tighter, the claws piercing the flesh in clear desire for her death. Yet as the blood rolled down his fingers, over his knuckles, his mouth watered but the hand flinched, losened it\'s grip on her. He loved the blood. He hated the blood. And he could feel himself emerging slowly from the shadows within him. Yet he still kept his face stony and his hand rigidly around her throat.

"Who are you? No mortal is ever that willing to have their life taken from them... What of this form, this demon form? What the fuck is going on?" Though Nikolai said it to the Akari, he was talking to himself, as if vocally was the only way he could determine anything anymore. Stony eyes glared into black, bottomless ones.

Storm did not flinch as his claws pierced her skin. Her eyes flickered to where his hand gripped her throat so tightly, then returning to his eyes. Her own eyes took on a sad tone of gray, contrasting her strong, piercing gaze.

"Why do you hesitate?!" She ignored his petty questions. He didn\'t need to have an answer, he meant nothing to her therefore he would know nothing.

The one time where she was actually in danger of being killed, the one time where she may have very well welcomed the death, there was hesitation. Oh did the gods enjoy tormenting her. Suicide? Of course she\'d tried it. The demon in her had always found a way to stop her before she actually did die. Storm had grown to believe that she didn\'t posses the means to kill herself at all. Oh, what a curse indeed.

This creature had caught her in a peculiar mood. Life wasn\'t pure anguish at the moment, no need to rush. That was her attitude. Indifference. Oh god, she was so tired. None of this displayed in her features. That was one of the only things she was good at these days: masking everything.

She had half the mind to try and stab him in the chest with her claws, being in such a convenient position.

His grip around her throat tightened, restricting her airflow. Tighter and tighter he wanted to squeeze but something held him back. "Don\'t snap at me, little girl, or this will be long and painful," Nikolai hissed iritatably, his anger and fustration showing a little too plainly for his liking.

He was beginning to emerge from the shadows and couldn\'t figure out exactly why he had so viciously hurt something so beautiful. That wasn\'t like him at all, he knew. But the shadows were still churning in his bossom, conspiring and lingering and loittering like uninvited guests. He loved them. He hated them.

Come on now, Nikolai. You\'ve gotta regain composure. What would you do with the body? You throw it in the ocean and it\'ll come back to bite you in the ass. Put her down and let go of her quickly. Just step away.

Kill her. Feed from her. You wanted destruction. You wanted death. You wanted to feel what life was about, well here it is! Take it now!

Nikolai paused, staring into her eyes. I can\'t. Not right now. I don\'t need it. It\'s too much trouble. And slowly his grip began to losen but his eyes didn\'t flicker.

Her breathing came in shallow and raspy. Eyes livid with hate she drilled into his skull, sending mental curses toward him. This was mildly boring, mostly for her soul then herself. Not that Storm had any real control at the moment.

Her eyes changed suddenly to an orange color and she held back a mischievous cackle. Feeling his grip loosen, she wrenched herself from his grasp, suffering quite a bit of damage to her throat but she didn\'t care. Taking a quick step back she brought her claws around and aimed to grab his throat, fangs bared like a wild animal.

Judas could feel the demonic girl slipp from his hands, yet couldn\'t react quickly enough. The vampire gasped with surprise. He stepped back and lost his balance, yet the swinging claws took anchor in the flesh of his throat, tearing at the skin and muscle and narrowly avoiding the airpipe. Lying on his back, Nikolai clutched his throat, ragged and bloody, feeling the pieces of skin falling off in the gore.

The wound burned like the sun. Dark red blood, cold and lifeless, spilled down from his throat, over his pale fingers, onto the ground and anything around the area of the gash. "God damn it," he wanted to say, finding it extremely difficult to vocallize anything right about now.

He scrambled back up to his feet quickly, yet found the world to be an unstable place. the world swayed and felt suddenly quite cold. There were two of the Akari, no three of her. It was all he could do to glare at her and hold his body up from falling back down.

Should have killed her while you had the chance, Nikki.

In a single, fluid motion, she was within inches of him. Her wings tore through her back and everything that made her what she was surfaced itself.

She smiled sickeningly, leaning forward so that their cheeks were touching.

"I told you not to fucking test me." she purred in her dark, layered voice. After nipping lightly at his ear, she took several steps backward, flapping her wings twice to put a few foot\'s distance between her body and the ground.

Hope the fucker bleeds to death... She thought coldly. Storm ached to revert to her human form, even if that meant sleep. The top of the lighthouse seemed like a decent place.

She threw a last glance at the man who she had only met. Oh, he looked so beautiful when he was bleeding.

Nikolai felt only the faint brush of her cheek against his and her fangs against his ear. It made him furious. If he were able to turn his neck, he would have latched into her neck and bled her dry. "Cunt," he breathed into her ear as she tortured him with her teeth. He could feel the flesh tingling and starting to heal at his throat, the bloodflow slowing.

His hand, incredibly slow for him, rose and took a sweep at her, landing nothing at all. She was already out of his reach. He grit his fangs together and glared at her flying form. That\'s all he could do now. Gravity was finally playing its part in swaying him as he stood. Too much of his blood had been lost. The bitch had cut through an artery or two. The blood wasn\'t stopping yet.

The worst part was his inability to gather the blood. Drinking vampire blood was a no-no, looked down upon and not the safest of choices to make. Not to mention that his blood was staining hundreds of blades of grass and his own clothing. The only available blood was hers...

Yet this demonic creature was wavering and developing black blotches in his mind, ones that he couldn\'t seem to get rid of. The darkness would consume him soon. Nikolai felt slightly panicked. How far off was the sunrise? He couldn\'t tell in this state. Fucking bitch, he thought, his teeth clenched together. Honestly, he didn\'t think he had the strength to climb that lighthouse she was heading towards, let alone get back to town.

Tick, tock. Tick, tock. A malicious laugh from within the deepest reaches of his mind. Time is blood.

She smiled maliciously, loving the hatred in his voice. She flapped her powerful wings, sending gusts toward him. Carrying herself into the sky, she reached the top of the lighthouse effortlessly.

As soon as her feet touched the wooden roof, she felt her wings retract almost immediately, painfully. Her skin returned to normal, eyes following suit.

It was amazing enough how she managed to lie down before passing into a deep sleep.

Climb, it told him, scale the walls after her, kill her. Drain her.

Beneath his hand, the flowing finally stopped. Any quick movement of his neck would disturb the wound and cause him to bleed to his second death. Fucking cunt, he thought, glaring at her still form high above. At least I can still move.

Yes, a fucking cunt. Girls like her don\'t deserve to live, do they? So what\'s stopping you, Nikki?
It laughed at him.

"Shut up," Nikolai whispered alloud, straightening up and removing his hand. Nikolai was back in control. And he felt extremely drained from the mental effort to drive off the shadows, let alone the blood loss. And the telepathic headache he had was simply mindblowing now.

He cast one final glance back up at her. Sure he could drain her in this form. She was a mortal. But what about that demon? Had she transformed before he could kill her, that thing could drop him off the side of the lighthouse, no sweat. And then how would he be faring? No. Better head back to town. Maybe drain some luckless hooker or junky, someone no one would miss.

"And as for you," he sent her, the headache stretching to consume a significant portion of his face, "you\'d better hope that we never meet again..." And without another word, Nikolai began his stride back to town.

All this because he wanted to see some little ghost child.
