Title: Dreams of Fire and a Door\'s Echo
Post by: DeathsAngel on February 22, 2008, 01:55:28 AM
Serrian stood as dignified as she could with the panting. She waited for until someone noticed that she was there.
An old instructor met her and smiled. He told her to follow him, and watched her as answered his casual questions with tension. She was never good with people, especially people who asked her questions.
He led her down the corridors until he stopped in front a room, the ten-year-old tried to hide her excitement.
That evening, she had arrived to late for classes she guessed, he hadn’t said anything except for his questions. She walked to the entrance hall, slowly push one of the doors open and stood there for a minute, hand on the door, she closed her eyes to feel the joy of being here. She wouldn’t be different anymore, not that she cared. She could train, more important, then become the best! That was this young girl’s goal, to be the best.

Serrian opened her eyes, three years later. She stood in the same posture, holding the door open and looking into the entrance hall. Three years and she hadn’t advanced at all. She would do better this year! She had vowed, and she would keep her vow.
She would advance and they would be confused, and then she would kill them for doubting her. The instructor who had first guided her around, now always shook his head in disappointment every time he saw her. He would be the first to die!
She sighed. She was just fantasying, she would be 9th degree for a long time, until they kick or out. Then the world out there will arrest her and send her to a nuthouse. She just wanted to be good. Good at what she did. And what did she do? Kill.
How she hated those people, and every student that had advanced when she didn’t! She would kill those, too!
Watch it, Serry! She thought. Kill too many people and nobody’ll be left. She sighed again.
She stepped forward and let the door slowly shut behind her, it’s soft sound echoing like thunder in the empty space. Hand placed in the door handle, she leaned back and stared at the wall in front of her.
She wanted to tell everyone her plans, she wanted to shout, she wanted to scream and hear it echo back at her, but she didn’t. She didn’t speak much, not out of choice, but she just never had anyone to speak to. When Serry did talk it was usually snide remarks, talkbacks, insults, death threats, and such things as that.
She closed her eyes and thought of better days, she always did that when she was feeling down, which was practically all the time.

She mother she smiled, as her brother, father and she played with the new baby twins. It was the only thing she remembered from back then, but it made her feel better. She had memorized each face.
Her mother was the most beautiful woman Serrian had ever seen, with long blond hair, bright green eyes, fair face. She had been a full elf, but had chosen a human husband.
Her father would look up at his wife and smile, he was handsome, but not overly handsome. A kind of plain face with blue eyes and short almost crop cut, brown hair. But his eyes held love.
Her she couldn’t remember what her older brother looked like, or any of their names. She figured her baby sister had looked just like her little brother, Andrew.
But as always the memory faded into fire. She couldn’t remember exactly what happened, only two things. Fire, lots of fire, and a face.
He was in his mid-twenties, probably thirties now, and had a cruel smirk on his face. “I’ll let you two live… For now.” He had said. “I was never here.” He turned and walked away. She would never forget that face. The curves of his face, the brown eyes, the white hair, nothing.
She didn’t tell, but not because of fear, but because she wanted to kill him herself. And she will.

But in the present, she was getting no closer. It would be a miracle is she got to 3rd degree, much less be the best! Much less kill him. She sighed. One day… One day…

Camie stood in the entrance hall watching a peculiar girl doing the same. She moved toward the girl and coughed toshow the girl she was there. "Hello," she cooed, "I\'m Camie. Who are you?"

Serrian didn\'t say anything at first. Her hands clinched in nervous fists at her side. She controlled her face to show no emotions.
"Serrian." She said shortly. "What\'re you doing here?" Her voice was sharp and she seemed to mesh all her words together, it did not match the emotionless face.
She studied the other girl from toe to hair, finding what would be her weaknesses and where weapons could be stored.
"What house are you in?" Depending on the house can tell a lot about a character.

"Actually I was escaping what could have been a bloody scene. I am of the nole house, Cruoi. And you?" She watched the girl look her up and down and was not disturbed. Her dagger slid further down into her boot and her forehead was glazed with sweat. The encounter with the girls in the library had been unsettling, but as her heart reat returned to normal, she calmed herself and know nothing else would happen with them.

Damn! Same house! Serrian thought. It meant that she was probably higher level, and could most likely beat her! If she had paid more attention she would have been level 8 by now and would have been better! Who knows this girl might be an apprentise! Doubt it. If she was she wouldn\'t be talking to Serrian, who looked like she ten!

She noticed the sweat on Camies brow. "What kind of situation?" She asked not wanting to tell the other girl her house. Serrian had never liked telling people things about her.

"Oh, just a little brawl with, Saiyura, a level one from my house and Idrial, a  Confuto high apprentice, is all. Nothing much, for a level nine, " she laughed. "What house did you say you were from?"

Damn."You do get around, don\'t you?" She asked. Why are you so interested in my house? You know as much about it as me! Serrian forced a smile. COntinue to annoy me and you\'ll regret it! We\'re the same level, I can kill you!
But Serrian remember the last time she tried to kill a student. She sighed mentally.

November had been watching the girl from the rafters even before the other one showed up. Why? Simple curiosity. How often did people stand around in the entrance hall with their eyes closed? It was kind of an oddity.

Oh, to be sure, lots of people spent time thinking. They just tended to do it in the safety of their rooms, not in open areas where anyone could be. Enemies included. What level was she, anyway? November glanced down at her sash - 9th then. That kind of explained it.

November might have left it there - a strange level 9 with slightly pointy ears staring at nothing in an open area. But then the human girl walked in. The young cait sith knew what she was the moment she walked in the room. Call it an Unseelie 6th sense, but November could always identify a human. Usually even half-humans, though they interested him less. That girl, though, was pure mortal.

November licked his lips. Not only mortal, but level 9. That could be... fun. Careful to make no noise (not too difficult for him at this point), November listened in on their conversation, his delicate feline ears quivering ever so slightly with anticipation. What should he do?

"Darkness," he whispered faintly, the word itself nothing at all. November stirred his inborn magics as he did, though, a harsh illusion falling around the two people underneath him. The illusion was simple - it was as though all the lights in the room had extinguished and night had fallen to its deepest. November grinned; even had those been the conditions he would have been able to see, but he could see through his own illusions without too much trouble.

Eagerly, November looked down to see what effect his little trick had had. Oh, he had more up his sleeve - he always did, for a human - but one had to build. You couldn\'t throw everything at once.... That ruined the fun of a slow build of fear.

Camie sensed hostility in the girl and cocked her eyebrow in desbelief. Suddenly, the two were surrounded in darkness. She knew from her mother that some types of magick could yeild this effect and refused to flinch at the trick. She hoped this other girl would not be so knowledgeable. She enjoyed the fear of others. She whispered into the celing, "That all you got?"She laughed uncontrolably, though nothing was actually funny. She wanted to meet the magick weilder and said so aloud hoping they would hear. She was eager to learn and knew she could learn more from a student that a know-it-all aprentice anyway.

Serrian twiched uncormfortably, ever so slightly. It wasn\'t out of fear, but hate. "Magick." She whispered to herself.
"Who\'s there?" She called out. She wanted to challenge, but she was blood-thirsty not stupid. If it was too much higher level she wouldn\'t be able to hold her own.
Then I thought came to her, maybe it was just a trick to scare her. Maybe it ws maybe it wasn\'t, in either case better not to show fear. Or signs that could be mistaken for fear. "I do not fear your magick." She said. It was not the magick she feared, it was the possiblity that whoever had the magick was a lot stronger than her.

November smiled. It was not a friendly gesture. So, he had two brave-hearts on his hands, did he? One was laughing, the other claiming not to be afraid. November twitched his long tail, his vicious, feline eyes narrowing in thought. A second passed. By the time the next had arrived, November was gone - simply vanished.

"You should," November whispered from his new location, one directly behind the girl who\'s claimed not to fear his magic. He\'d even leaned forward for effect, his breath just barely shifting the small hairs behind her ear with his whisper. November didn\'t wait to see what her reaction would be, but vanished again, this time to behind the human girl.

November didn\'t speak to this one at first, but reached out to brush a claw across the back of her neck. "Sure you want to find out?" he asked, his voice a low, amused whisper. He took two jumps back, hiding the noise he made with what he\'d learned in Confuto, then simply watched again. Toying with people had a lot to do with watching.

"Yes, darling," she whispered back as she shivered at the creatures touch. Then, it was gone again. She wanted to see it, touch it, learn from it. She hadn\'t learned anything else useful in this place. Though she could not use magick, maybe this thing could teach her it\'s art of silence.

The child twirled around and stared at the... creature with cold eyes. She could just see what he would look like when she cut his throat open. "Really? Vanishing tricks and darkness hasn\'t done much to prove to me I should... Steal can still pierce your heart!" She growled, her mostly elven face paling from hate.

The prick was toying with them! That much was obvious. Serrian had been toyed with before, it had never effected her before. The older students used to try and scare her when she had just arrived, she had gotten used to it. So this... person didn\'t scare her one bit. She probably couldn\'t beat him in a fight, if he actually started, but she could add him to her List.
Her "List" was a bunch of names and detials she\'d picked up about them... Peo-creatures she would kill.

((Apologies for the wait. It\'s been... a rough week. Family stuff))

So. The mortal girl was surprisingly gutsy, wasn\'t she? But to call him "darling"... November\'s blue-ice eyes flashed in a moment of anger, the illusion around them flashing with a very subtle undertone of red as well. "Darling" was something only December could call him. Only him! November darted forward to smack the girl, then whispered tightly, "Never call me that." The cait sith moved back quickly, again silencing himself despite his emotions. Controlling yourself no matter how you felt... December prized that, and so November had learned it.

The half-mortal made November\'s mouth twitch. "Maybe it could, if you had a prayer of touching me," the white-haired boy said, his voice dripping sweet venom. The arrogance some of the people here had... Just to emphasise the point, November padded over to her, slinking his tail around her ankle as he walked silently by. He was careful to remain alert, lest she try to cut either him or his tail, and was more than prepared to simply... vanish, if need be.
Title: Re: Dreams of Fire and a Door\'s Echo
Post by: DeathsAngel on March 09, 2008, 05:16:50 AM
Serrian kicked the tail as it touched her ankle, and ever-so-slightly flicked her wrist so her dagger was in her hand. "Why should I attack you when you are expecting it, wouldn\'t that just slighten my chance of succeding?" She cocked her head.
He would hide behind his magic tricks and think himself save! She thought hatefully.

She wanted to shake her head at his self-rightous behavoir. He would put himself against two opponents. He was either that good or that conceited. Better to find out which before attacking. Then again, could she count on Camie? In Serrian\'s experience she hadn\'t really been able to trust anyone.

BUt it might not end up in a fight. He just might be some trickster who would run away when the first attack had been placed. Serrian had run into those, they liked to play tough to the "new" kids then run away. You never could tell until it happened.

November chuckled, a sound made deep in his throat, when she kicked at his tail and drew a dagger. "Then what?" he asked, walking in a half-circle behind her. "Going to try to catch me when I\'m not paying attention?" The very thought it it insulted him. November always paid attention. He would be a Master, and he would do it soon so he and December could go back to the Unseelie Court and get away from all these stupid people who tried to set rules on them and their conduct.

People who would probably complain if he killed one of their precious mortal students. It would be a pain in the butt, but December would just smile knowingly. November\'s eyes narrowed as he looked at the back of the girl\'s head. "Want to try?" he asked, voice sharp with a little hint of "I dare you". She sure had a lot of fire for being a level 9. They both did; it was interesting.

Camie laughed to the cocky feline, "If that is what you wish." She wanted to learn, not fight him. She whispered this so that the other girl could not hear her. She knew he would probably be willing if she made clear her intetions. "Anything you want I give. I only want to learn from you, who is higher in status than I. . .and much more capable of taking down the bitch who attempts to defy you and your obvious authority," she whispered to him in her eloquent voice. All she could hope for is that she could watch him destroy the arrogant bitch standing in the same room as she.

Oh, lovely!  Was Serrian\'s first thought after that stupid bitch told him to go ahead and kill her. How do you always get into such horrible odds? She turned to the other girl.

"He could try, and probably succeed, but not before I can kill you." She promised, as she turned to face the other girl. How did this happen? Oh, yes, she came to talk to me and now she wants her dead. Serrian thought. Maybe she should just go over and suck up to higher levels and leave me alone.

The mortal\'s - the full mortal\'s, that was - response surprised November. It would have been visible if for the darkness he\'d created, but as it was it hid the widening of his eyes and the curious forward set of his ears. Anything I want? November thought, somewhat surprised. The girl was offering herself as a cait sith\'s... what? Pet? Servant? That was interesting. Very, very interesting. Also that she had respect for him. Hmm....

It wasn\'t entirely unusual for Unseelie sidhe to take on mortals as pets, nor to make deals with them. November was rather curious about what this mortal girl might offer. Perhaps she had something worthwhile.... But November would never know if the half-mortal killed her first.

November was at the half-mortal\'s side instantaneously, using one hand to grab her wrist in the knot of tendons in an attempt to "convince" her to drop the blade and drawing his own blade with the other, just in case he should find himself needing it. "There\'s no \'probably\' about it," November hissed, eyes narrow, "and I will not let you kill her before we finish making our deal." That would be a real shame; quite the potential loss! November wouldn\'t let it happen. Oh, he wouldn\'t have minded letting the two go at it not 30 seconds ago, but now that there was a bargain on the table...

Deals were a sidhe\'s lifeblood. A potential deal, especially one so open-ended as the girl had made it sound, was not something November would simply let die on him. Not until he\'d seen whether or not he wanted it.

Serrian glared at November, "let me go." She said in a forced calm, and held fast to her knife. If she lived through this, he would have to die! If she lived...
"And I might consider letting her live and play pet for you." She growled. Better to get out alive than to die trying to kill them. She wasn\'t good enough, but someday... Someday this arrogant... Creature would be sorry! Well, if he lived long enough... She added to herself.

Why would that stupid bitch want to be a pet to this creature? She asked herself, to learn Magick? In her pridefull mind, she could think of no reason. It was no concern of hers, though. She carefully let loose her a knife in her other sleeve, slowly slide into her hand, until she had a firm grip on it. With his grip on one hand she couldn\'t let herself be left defenseless.

Camie smile when the sidhe moved to the girl\'s side. She was so very impressed with him, he was protecting her. She laughed aloud at the seemilngly defenseless girl, "Might let me live? The elder one could kill you now. Pet I will not play. Servant I shall be to he who shields me from your foolish wrath."

"There are three daggers now, elder one," she said to the cat as she saw the half-mortal girl drop the other blade into ther hand. She knew he would catch her implication and she knew she was eternally indebted to him now.
Title: Re: Dreams of Fire and a Door\'s Echo

November flicked his tail, irritated with both mortal and halfbreed. The halfbreed for being stubborn and stupid - didn\'t she know she didn\'t have a chance against him? - and with the mortal for telling him such obvious things, as though he hadn\'t been training for the past 70 years to detect such annoyances. It was interesting how the girl called him "elder one", though, as though she knew he was many times her age despite his appearance. But servant.... so that was the deal, then, was it? November toyed with the idea in his head. It might be nice to have a servant.

"I know that," November said softly in his Irish lilt, the words carrying power despite their volume. The cait sith began to dig in to the girl\'s wrist not with the pads of his fingers, but with his claws. She could either try to get out of his grip, let him keep squeezing until he tore her tendons, let go of the blade or... do something foolish... November kept himself at the ready for that last one, almost hoping she did. Blood.... pleased him. A fight would please him as well. There was something very satisfying about the feeling of one\'s blade slicing across flesh...

November\'s eyes hardened with a feral light as he thought, his mouth curling into a decidedly bloodthirsty smile. He dropped his chin and laid his ears back, opening his mouth just a little bit to enhance his sense of smell. Yeah... he really did like the smell of blood... "Gonna do something about it?" he asked the halfbreed, his blade held loose and ready in his right hand.

Serrian stared at camie as she spoke. What is that girl playing at? She wondered, Or does she just have some sort of mental problem... Speaking mental problems... Her last thought was directed towards herself.

But pain drifted her from her thoughts as the cait sith dug his nails into her flesh, uncalled for tears came to her eyes as she tried to removed her wrist from his grip. "Fine you can have the bloody knife!" She said dropping it, it wasn\'t that important.
But of course, this was what she got for picking a fight with a sudent a lot higher level than she.

"Yes, elder one, I know you are aware. Ij ust want this bitch to know she\'s not very good at hiding her next move." Camie laughed as she heard the other girl forced to drop her knife. Her laghe was evil and somewhat cat-like. "Yes," she thought aloud, "this ought to turn out nicely especially if the half-blood dies at your hands, elder one."
Title: Re: Dreams of Fire and a Door\'s Echo
Post by: Fell on March 19, 2008, 02:13:08 PM
So long as the girl knew he\'d known about the other knife... November could understand wanting to humiliate your opponent anyway. These two girls seemed to be at odds. It really would have been fun to watch them fight, but November supposed that it couldn\'t be helped. He\'d already interfered, illusion and all. Talking about that, actually, he wondered if he should lift it. It didn\'t take him long to decide against that, though. It was still useful.

"What makes you think I would want your knife?" November asked, his soft voice acidic at best. He already had perfectly good weapons of his own - better, even, considering Mab\'s magicing them. She wouldn\'t have done that with a crappy blade.

November looked over to the human, wrinkling his nose. December always said you shouldn\'t kill someone until they\'ve either slighted you badly enough to warrant it or proved themselves to be useless, and this halfbreed had done neither. She was far below him in level, so a loss was expected, and her arrogance wasn\'t personal. November himself wouldn\'t have had any problem with leaving her dead in the hallway, but disappointing his brother so...

The cait sith let the girl go, taking a quick step back. "You\'re lucky," November said softly, his ice-blue eyes burning with anger and frustration. He stared at the girl for another moment, then turned abruptly on his heel and began to walk away, letting the illusion drop as he did. "Come on, mortal. We have a deal to make," November said, speaking to the one who seemed so intent on serving him. It really did interest him, her disposition. It would be good to see what she could do.

All the while, he kept one ear on the halfbreed. She was clearly unpredictable and slightly unstable, and December would never forgive him if November were so careless as to let her stab him. Therefore, the cait sith wouldn\'t allow it. She wouldn\'t get him... not if he had anything to say about it.

Camie was impressed with the sense of honor her soon-to-be master possessed. "Yes, elder one, you speak true. And a deal we shall make." She moved to his side. Careful not to make him lose concentration on the other girl she whispered to him, "What ever you wish, elder one. I am at you full command. I am in debt to you, and forever, a servant I shall be."
Title: Re: Dreams of Fire and a Door\'s Echo

Serrian watched as the started to walk away, and debated quickly whether to attack or not. She bent over to pick up her knife, god, she wished that he would just kill that stupid bitch. Serrian was annoying, and she knew that, she didn\'t care, but that didn\'t mean she didn\'t know it. But that-that human was offering her life to someone she had just met and thought she was bright and smart for it. He would use her, until he bore of her, then he would just leave her be and Serrian could have her fun with the damn human bitch.

But she would let them go for now, she didn\'t mind him. Plus he had the grace not to kill Serrian, which counted for a lot. But Camie was such a stupid human, and what had Serrian done to her? It didn\'t matter, soon she would be dead.
"Camie, when he looses favor of you, I will kill you." She challenged the girl. "And all of your suck ups and \'elder one\'s won\'t save your sorry ass."

If November had heard the mortal girl\'s thoughts just then, he probably couldn\'t have helped but laugh. Honor had nothing to do with it for November. His elder brother might have some twisted sense of it, but November was less than concerned with such matters.

"Agreed," November said simply in return to the girl\'s words. And with that, their deal was made - and a deal made with a sidhe, even vocally, was more binding than any mortal contract. If the mortal tried to go back on their deal now, she would find it more difficult that she might have anticipated.

One of November\'s white ears flicked back to listen to the halfbreed. Okay, he thought, continuing away. That seemed like a fine deal to him. "What\'s your name?" November asked the mortal as they walked, his ice blue eyes boring into her intently. It wasn\'t anything personal; it was just November\'s eyes. There was definitely something unsettling in them, though...

Camie laughed at the half-blood, "You can try, bitch, but in the end it will be you blood that is spilt. If not by my own hands, by another\'s. Your arrogance will be the death of you." She directed her attention back to the cait sith and was surprisingly unfearful of him.The Hellraiser." as she felt his eyes boring into her He had saved her from the wrath of the half-breed bitch, which she seriously doubted she would have been able to thwart. She looked him straight in the eye and answered his question in a slow, steady voice, "My name is Camorrista Saino, or Camie if you prefer. It means, \'The Hellraiser.\' " She smiled at him, hoping he\'d be pleased with her. "May I have the pleasure of hearing your name, elder one?"
