Title: Abandonment Issues
Post by: Existentially Odd on May 29, 2011, 09:38:28 PM
It was not acceptable.  The two century-old vampire fumed as he stormed through his house, smelling Will everywhere, knowing he\'d come home from fuck knew where, but was now gone.  Again.  With no fucking explanation, not so much as a motherfucking note.  He hadn\'t returned phone calls or text messages for days now - for all the redhead knew, the cocksucker had gone and lost his damn mobile phone... or just got his ass ashed up somehow and he\'d never learn why.  Now the bitch just breezed back in like he owned the place, and blew back out again, calm as you please, with no interaction.

He\'d been going out of his motherfucking mind with worry and of course it hadn\'t occurred to him that the same thing had happened the year before.  The vampire didn\'t remember stupid shit like that, nor even stop to contemplate how differently he regarded Will now, as opposed to the same time last year.  It hadn\'t once entered his tiny, frenzied mind over the past few days of being without his only companion.  His only friend.

Shit was not like it used to be, ever since he\'d settled in this place.  It was the adventure that had called to him at the time, that had ruined things between he and Reed

of course he hadn\'t had a part in that, had he?  Clinging to his accidental lover and scaring the shit out of Captain Human by asking to sire him so they could be together forever hadn\'t had an impact, surely!

but he\'d stuck with it.  Fucked if he was a quitter.  And Will had just invited his bony ass in and stayed and he\'d got used to that deal, he\'d grown accustomed to the blonde being there, teasing him, trading insults, sharing shit with him.

Then the asshole just up and leaves!  No hint it was going to happen, no word once Indie had figured out that he hadn\'t been home in at least a day, it just stretched out into almost a week (he thought) until now.  Suddenly, the whore was home and oh God was the redhead furious for putting him through this!  He was going to get his ass pounded in ways no homo would ever ask for once Indie got his hands

his younger, less experienced, less strong hands

on him!

He searched the entire house, noting the return of the bike in the garage and figuring that Will couldn\'t be too far away - maybe out getting a drink, though the bastard was in no way regular or predictable, so fuck knew where he might be.  Once the small abode had been gone through, the vampire rang Will\'s mobile, not expecting it would be answered and just about hurling it across the room when it wasn\'t.  Thankfully, he restrained himself (just) and threw it harmlessly into the couch cushions instead, before stalking back into his bedroom.

After a vigorous shower, the redhead dressed himself up in his usual uniform for going out - wooden-heeled boots, old blue jeans with a few rips in them, a black T-shirt and a maroon-coloured button-up shirt over the top of it, tucked into his tight jeans and only done up as far as his midriff.  He threw a black leather jacket on, finger-combed his hair and went pacing around the neighbourhood, walking far enough away that he would be able to find someone clean, who wouldn\'t recognise him again.

He drank from a few women, perfunctorily but gently enough that they weren\'t jarred out of the experience enough to scream, then stalked his way back home.  Will still wasn\'t there and it only made him angrier.  He slapped his leather jacket down on his bed and paced out to the lounge room, unlocking his phone in order to send a text message this time: Where the fuck are you??!!  He didn\'t expect to get an answer any time soon, so he thumped down onto the couch and tried to click through as many channels as he could without the TV glitching.

When a key eventually turned in the lock of the front door however long it was later, he sprang up from his position on the couch and hurled himself towards it, intending on greeting William with a punch in the face and maybe a body-blow if he could get one in, too.

Will wasn’t in a great mood - but was more peaceful now then he had been when he’d left the house earlier. Now he knew where things stood with Anna, she was pissed at him and he had no intention of forgiving her any time soon yet, although that would stop him from demanding her attentions as much as he could. He knew it would annoy her more, which was part of reason why he wanted to spent time with her.

He was lost in his thoughts when he arrived home and wasn’t even considering whether or not his housemate was home as he put the key in the door. He’d had his phone off since he’d left a few days ago and had forgotten to turn it on again, so he had no idea how much Indiana had been trying to contact him. In fact, he\'d forgotten that they hadn\'t seen one another for a few days.

So when the red head launched himself at the blonde, William was completely unprepared for the blow to his face, but he reacted swiftly, grabbing Indiana by the shirt and shoving the younger vampire backwards across the room with a snarl, not really caring where he landed. His fists were clenched as he stood in the doorway, his grey eyes flashing angrily.

“What the fuck is wrong with you? Shit, you’re a lunatic,” William growled, lifting a hand to lightly touch his cheek where Indiana had landed his punch. He knew any bruise would heal quickly, but the very fact that there would be one at all was annoying as hell.

The younger vampire stumbled into the back of the couch, tipping it forward into the coffee table and spilling the television and console controls he\'d been toying with onto the carpet, but grateful that the furniture stopped his semi-flight across the room.

He picked himself up and was back on his feet, hands on hips and glaring triumphantly at his roommate (from a bit of a distance, in case the prick launched at him) in an instant.

"The fuck I am!" he snarled back.  "Where the fuck have you been for the last week?!  You don\'t answer your fucking phone, you don\'t tell me you\'re fucking leaving - for all I knew, you were staked and I was left with running some pathetic garage sale to get rid of your shitty stereo and all the rest of your useless crap!" he bellowed, flinging an arm towards Will\'s room for emphasis before repositioning it regally on his hip, blue-brown eyes flashing dangerously and his head cocked back at an antagonistic angle, so that he was looking slightly sideways and down his nose at the older vampire.

There was something quite satisfying about seeing his attacker tumbling over the sofa in an ungraceful sprawl and a smirk crossed his face as he watched Indiana scramble to his feet once again.

“What the…?” Will began, but then he paused as he remembered he had actually disappeared for a few days. With Anna reappearing and then being attacked upon entry to his home, his trip had almost slipped from his mind. William tried to forget about it as soon as possible every year. He didn’t like to dwell on it. A couple of days a year and then pushing it aside had always worked for him in the past. He guessed his disappearing act may have given Indi some kind of reason to be annoyed… but to react like that?

“If I wanted you to know where I was going, I would have told you before I left. I would have invited you along. But I didn’t. It’s touching that you care enough about my welfare to fucking attack me as soon as I walk in the bloody door though,” William said lifting a hand to touch his heart, then snapping the final words as he slammed the door shut behind him, stepping closer to the redhead.

“And I’m home now anyway. I’m not… staked.” (Really it surprised him that Indiana had even considered something like that might have happened to him.) “You can stop worrying your pretty little head about me now,” he added, dropping his keys on a table by the door and folding his arms across his chest as he glared at Indiana.

"Worrying my pretty head about dealing with your shit!" the redhead corrected hastily, pointing an imperious finger at the carpet on the emphasised word to show that there was a damn difference in their perspectives.

Of course he hadn\'t been fretting about William\'s safety!  No!  It was all about the possible inconvenience of having to clean up after him, should he be dead.  Yes, that was it.  Never mind the fact that the relief that was now flooding through him at seeing Will\'s face in their home again was just about giving him goosebumps, and never mind that the urge to hug the bastard was rising in him almost as quickly as the urge to punch his head in had. That shit he would have to deal with later, and concentrate on saving face now.

"So where were you, then?" he sneered, turning and righting the couch and then walking around it to pick up the remotes off the floor, speaking again when they were in his hands and he\'d popped back up to his full height.  The couch between them was a deliberate move, as was holding stuff in his hands; it quelled the urge to get up close and personal with the other vampire for the time being.  "Was there an urgent sausage-fest you just couldn\'t resist getting your ass on across state lines?" he jeered, making a crude squatting motion as he did.

He might have paid attention to the odometer on Will\'s bike and noted just how many extra miles had been racked up on the thing in one of his pacing fits while he was waiting for the fucker to return home.  He might have calculated just how far the guy could\'ve got in each direction, too... unless he\'d not gone far and just done a whole shitload of taxiing around.  Likely, he wasn\'t about to get the truth out of Will by teasing him that he\'d attended some sort of homo orgy, but he couldn\'t help where his mouth took him.

As Indiana moved around the sofa, picking up the remotes and tidying up the mess they’d made, William sidled around the other side of it, letting the redhead keep the safety barrier between them, although he thought it was for a different reason. He assumed Indiana wanted to keep it between them because he was going to say something else to piss him off and didn’t want to be shoved across the room again.

And it was probably a good thing that the sofa was there as Indi spoke again, making those obscene gestures. William tried to push the thoughts of Suzanne, Resolved and Peregrine from his mind most of the time, but he had been at his wife’s grave this week and to have the redhead talk about her that way, in ignorance or otherwise, was infuriating.

William snarled with his fangs showing clearly, leaning forwards, his fingers curling around the back of the sofa. He felt as though he wanted to leap over the sofa and rip the other vampire’s head off and it showed in his expression. He resisted that, just about, as he contemplated throwing the sofa at the younger vampire, smashing that perfect nose, putting a real dent in those dimples. But instead of completely losing his cool William got a grip of himself, straightening up again and smoothing out the cloth of the couch with a light stroke of his fingers.

“I went to Vegas. Stayed at the Bellagio. They\'re very accommodating when you pay the right people. Won a few grand on Blackjack. Sorry if you were upset you thought you were missing out on a… sausage-fest. I’ll take you next time,” William said, the lie slipping from his lips like silk, but it would be far easier to see through than the normal untruths which he came out with and an unusual hesitation stopping his words as he repeated Indiana’s turn of phrase, his lips curling up in disgust at saying it.

When that vicious noise issued from Will, the redhead pulled his head in - literally - staring warily at his companion.  That wasn\'t a warning noise so much as an open threat of impending peril and he knew he\'d overstepped some line.  Some invisible line drawn where Will wouldn\'t tell him it was, because he didn\'t matter enough to know, even after all this time.

And he\'d thought he\'d begun to get to know the guy; how wrong he\'d been.  That snarl told Indie that he had no fucking clue about what was going on, but that Will was ready to protect himself in any way necessary.  Honestly, it hurt.  Not only had he not been told Will was up and leaving, he was now being threatened and warned off asking more, being fed some bullshit about Vegas.

It was bullshit, despite the easy tone, because the snarl had told the younger vampire so. Not to mention the disgusted expression on Will\'s face as he repeated Indie\'s joking words. It was there in cold grey eyes, too; fuck off, bitch, you don\'t know what you\'re fucking with, and you know what else? You\'re not worthy of knowing this shit about me.

Yeah, it hurt alright and it made him realise that joking about this stuff was no way to get answers.  Thing was, he wasn\'t about to just ask nicely either, \'cos fucked if he\'d prostrate himself before the blonde and open up his legs for a good ole\' fashioned ball kicking.  He was nobody\'s bitch-fool.

"Right," he said through stiff lips, breaking eye contact with Will and staring at the couch a moment before he flopped down onto it, the remote in hand but not being used as he stared unseeingly at the screen before him.  "Well, do me a favour; just delete any messages off your phone without listening to \'em.  Or reading \'em.  I was just...

worried
fearful
afraid you\'d left me without so much as a goodbye
like they all did
another eats the dust, getting the fuck out of dodge
because of me

He couldn\'t even think of a cool alternative to \'worried\' that might save him some face so he just shut up and started clicking the remote, expecting Will would walk away, now.  In case he didn\'t, and option-a-for-ass-pounding was still on the cards, Indie was coiled despite his sprawled position, ready to run if it came to it.  Will could kill him, if he wanted, and they both knew it.  Now wouldn\'t that be a pretty end for them?

Will kept his gaze on Indie as the redhead recoiled - he hadn’t meant to scare his friend, it was just a spur reaction, instinctive at the insult to his wife, the woman he’d loved and sacrificed his life for. But he knew Indie had no idea what he’d said that was so bad. He was always picking at Will, making jokes, and usually Will took them good naturedly enough so there was no reason that would be obvious to Indie why this was different.

He pursed his lips slightly as Indie mentioned the messages he left him and dropped a hand to tap his jeans pocket, wondering where he’d left his phone, curious as to what Indie had said. It was probably still in the rucksack he’d taken with him, which was now in his bedroom. If the redhead had said nothing Will probably would have just deleted them, but now his interest was sparked. Maybe he should have said he was going, or at least left a note. But it was too late now.

William moved slowly around to the front of the sofa, noting how tense Indie looked and keeping his movements smooth and cautious, as though his housemate was a scared animal. He sat down, sprawling over his half of the sofa as normal, resting his chin on his hand, his elbow propped up on the arm of the couch. A part of him had wanted to stalk off, to shut himself in his room and turn up the music on his shitty stereo or leave the house, hunt down Anna, or Vivi to take his anger out on her.

But he liked his life here. He liked Indiana. He was happy here and Anna had to come here to fuck things up. No doubt they would be having this conversation if he\'d seen Indie before going to see Anna - but he would have been in a better mood and been able to come up with something better to get Indie off his case, like he had last year.

So he stayed, knowing staying and calming down Indie would be better in the long run than letting the redhead stew and the bad feeling between them fester.

“I ran into a fledgling,” Will said staring blankly at the TV and Indie’s channel flicking for a few moments.

My fledgling,” he added in clarification, glancing Indiana’s way. “I felt her nearby, I hadn’t seen her for a hundred and fifty years or so,” he added with a shrug. With Anna so close and Will had plans to see her again, he guess it was pointless keeping that from Indiana.

Will\'s casual manner of approaching the couch and sitting just the same way he always did had the desired effect on the vampire; he calmed down somewhat, though he made a show of shuffling out of the way infinitesimally.  In all the years they\'d lived together, Indiana had been threatening to buy another couch so they could have their own space but he\'d never done it.  They\'d begun their co-habitation together on a whim, needing companionship from one another, and touching/wrestling/sprawling on the same bit of furniture every night was part of the ritual.

Besides, Will had always retorted that if Indie did buy another couch, he\'d just join him on his anyway, so it would be a pointless exercise (until they broke their current one with all their flopping about, perhaps).

Indie looked sharply at his companion, wary of this information.  Years ago, Will had told him of a wife named Susanna and children (when he\'d spilled his guts about Reed), and he\'d always kept that information close, so the idea that the fledgling was a \'she\' shouldn\'t have surprised him as much as it did.  Will had been married, once, he\'d just moved on from finding women interesting... possibly because of this woman who\'d come back into his life?  There\'d been vague mention of fledglings and specific scorn for the process of making them all - since the relationships had never worked out - but he\'d never been told a name (or sex).

Somehow, the notion of another - even a woman, for whom he believed Will to hold no particular interest in - so intimately connected to his friend returning suddenly to his life threatened the redhead.  He and Will were close; they could never get that close, though.  The fact that he hadn\'t seen her for a hundred and fifty years might also mean she was about Indie\'s age, too... another advantage he didn\'t have.

"Yeah?" he asked curiously, ending his silent, possessive speculation and pushing ahead for information.  He needed as much on this bitch as he could get hold of.  "How\'d that go?"  He wondered if he was being told the reason for Will\'s few-days-absence and decided he wouldn\'t push for clarification by asking if he\'d taken her with him to Vegas, at this point.  Not being snarled at by your best friend was a good thing and something he was wanting to have more of.

William gently ran his thumb along his jaw line as he mulled over his response. It hadn’t gone well, but he hadn’t expected it to. And Anna… well, what could he say about her?

“It was… disappointing. She’s exactly the same. Stuck up, stubborn, acting as though it’s the eighteen hundreds and nothing‘s changed in the world. She’s wasting her immortality. It’s fucking ridiculous,” William said, letting the disgust show in his voice and expression as he toed off his shoes and lifted a foot to rest on the coffee table.  And the worst part was Will knew a large chunk of this was his fault. If he had stayed with her, or made her leave, forced her to abandon her tribe, he could have taught her so much better, trained her properly, given her a life worth living.

William didn’t often open up much, but Indie was the person he would talk to when he wanted to. And this… this he wanted to talk through. And talking about Anna was preferable to talking about Suzanna.

He had to figure out what he wanted to do. Something was beginning to form, and that was partly why he had left Risk when he had, instead of finding Vivi as had been his original plan. That would have pissed off Anna, but he wanted to do more than that. She had betrayed him, chosen a stinking human over him and William was getting more and more angry about that as he thought on it.

“She’s living just outside the city now. In some shithole of a cabin. I think she’s settled there, for a while at least,” William murmured, wiggling his bare toes as he gazed at them thoughtfully.

Indie was intrigued by Will\'s scorn, wondering what motivated it.  Hatred?  Burned love?  It seemed based on passion, at any rate, for who was William to condemn someone as \'wasting their immortality\'?  He wasn\'t exactly the poster boy for Ultimate Undeath.

The dude didn\'t sleep days and he thought that that was making the most of eternal life?  While he kept himself holed up, away from people, fearful of anything that didn\'t move him along the ground and generally just doing whatever Indie decided would be entertaining?  Seriously?

The redhead pressed his lips together, so that he didn\'t let a smirk free to advertise the irony in these statements.  "Well... if she\'s gonna\' hang around this city, shit\'s gonna\' get pretty real for her, right?  She can\'t keep pretending it\'s the fucking back of never if she\'s... wait, is she gonna\' be hanging with us?"

He\'d meant to say \'you\', not \'us\', enquiring as to whether or not Will was going to educate his fledgling on the ways of the modern world, since he sounded so disapproving of her lifestyle.  But he\'d said \'us\'.  Damn.
Title: Re: Abandonment Issues

William’s head turned sharply towards Indie, his eyebrow raising as the word ‘us’ was used. He hadn’t wanted Anna to meet the redhead, he wanted his fledgling and his friend kept separate as much as possible and as he imagined Indie and Anna meeting a spark of jealousy flared up. Anna hated him, if she hit if off with Indie (as so many women seemed to), it would suck on so many levels.

“That… wasn’t what I had planned,” William said carefully. “I believe she didn’t really have any intention of entering the city for anything but going to the outskirts for food.” He wasn’t sure how to delicately put that he didn’t want his fledgling anywhere near this house and the redhead. But maybe subtle wasn’t the best way to go.

I’m going to see her again in a few nights time. I think she needs a bit of space from me for now. She’s still kind of pissed at me because of how we left things. It wasn’t terribly amicable,” William said, undecided on whether or not to go into more detail or not. If Indie asked, he would probably give a brief overview, if not, well, what he’d said so far might be enough of a summing up.

He lightly bit his lower lip as he gazed across at Indie. “She might find you a little overwhelming right now and I don’t want to scare her off.” Not yet anyway.

William said: I want to give her some time to adjust.  We\'ll ease into things and see how it goes.

Indiana heard: You\'re not good enough to come near my little princess, you lunatic, so get the fuck back in your cage.

His jaw skewed obstinately and he couldn\'t help but glare at William, hurt beyond speaking for a moment.  There was a black ball of tension knotted in his chest very suddenly and he hated Anna purely - and Will too, for doing this to him - with no real grounding beyond the fact she\'d get her sire\'s attention and Indie would be left alone.  Again.  Except this time, he kind of got told to expect it.  That was a change.

"Right," he exclaimed with a bitter laugh, smiling with his mouth while his eyes hardened.  "Hands off your bitch while you get her back onside.  Got it."  He looked away from his housemate, jaw still set mutinously and fists bunched ineffectually in his lap.  He was so overwhelmed by his stupid fucking emotions currently, that he didn\'t know what to do first.  The urge to get the fuck away from William was the strongest, though, and as soon as the buzzing noise cleared from his brain, he\'d figure that out and act on it.  Until then he sat.  Impotently.

William watched Indiana as his friend stiffened up. It was painful to watch the redhead close up so suddenly, and over something so stupid, over Anna, a woman he felt like he should love but that he couldn’t help hating. She had his blood running through his veins and how could he deny that connection?

And if he had to choose between them… he preferred Indiana, but he had had a century and a half to mull over what she had done. As good as he was at ignoring things, something like that still sprung up occasionally.

The blonde shuffled closer to Indie, reaching out to put a hand on Indie’s thigh, one he wouldn’t let the redhead brush aside. He could feel the tension in his roommate and hated seeing him so worked up.

“She is a bitch. She’s a pain in my ass and she betrayed me. She chose a human over me and I want her onside so I can hurt her. She just rocks up here and I can feel her just… there…” he said, lifting his hand and wiggling his fingers beside his ear, as though indicating an annoying sound.

"Come on, kid. She\'ll be gone before you know it," he said with a smirk.

Even though he flinched when he was touched, he didn\'t get away from Will\'s strong hold and, a moment later, he was pretty glad he hadn\'t.  Looking slightly perplexed, he turned to stare at the blonde, trying to see if this was the truth or not.  William was never above lying but they\'d had an unspoken agreement from a few weeks in that there\'d be no lies coming his way (he thought) and there seemed to be sincerity in the cold grey eyes directed towards him.

Relief settled through him like water bleeding into a stone.  Will wanted revenge on his fledgling (although why he cared after so long that she\'d chosen a human over him was beyond Indie... it\'d obviously been a big deal), to charm her then harm her, and he was totally down with that.  He would help with that, if he was allowed.

"A\'right," he agreed reluctantly, the tension in his body relaxing and the fire in his eyes subsiding as he was reassured by Will\'s proximity and his touch.  It sucked royally that he\'d come to rely so heavily on the older vampire to stave off his loneliness, to be his partner in everything (but the bedroom), but he\'d accommodated that by now.  After two years together (hell, after two months), Indie had conceded to himself that William would be his new Reed, without the fucking and he was at peace with it.  No, more than that, he protected it; threats, he didn\'t take lightly.

What he hadn\'t realised - though he was pushed close to it when Will disappeared without notice for those days - was how wrapped up in Will his self-worth was.  For the first time in his existence (not that he could remember back beyond Reed to know it was a pattern he\'d repeated, to a lesser degree, with many mortal buddies beforehand, in his two hundred and forty-one year life span), he\'d hitched his star to another immortal.  One very similar to him as far as indifference for the world at large went, one who\'d assimilated with him more completely than any other person he\'d ever met.

Should he lose Will, or wreck the relationship somehow, it was a blow he\'d never recover from.  His heart sent out repercussions that should have warned him - as should his instantaneous, fight or flight mechanism being triggered every time Will did something he perceived to be a threat to their union - but he was too blinded by machismo to see it.  Machismo and fear so deeply rooted in his psyche that he wouldn\'t have to look on its black unfamiliarity until the very end of his days, likely.  And then it\'d all become clear and cause him to end himself.

Prompted subconsciously by this black, sticky tar deep within him, he therefore asked a question that had nothing to do with Anna, for he\'d accepted his place in that scheme with the speaking of one word.  The bitch would go down, but his time for participation was in the future, once Will had had time to ease her back into some sort of relationship with him (and he was still threatened by that, so he preferred not to think too heavily on the details just yet).

"Where\'d you go?  Really?"  From the slightly wounded way he looked at Will, the blonde would know he meant the days before Anna - though maybe he\'d just been to get Anna, he couldn\'t be sure.  The bike\'s odometer didn\'t necessarily mean anything, right?

William gave a smile as he felt Indiana relax. He didn’t realise how distressing it was to see Indie upset until it happened and as much of a relief as it was William always forgot that until the next time it occurred. And every time he told himself he wouldn’t let it happen again. Indie could be so emotional, the smallest thing could set him off and when he got like this William worried he might just disappear one day.

It had moved on from the crush he’d had on Indie, but now it was more. He enjoyed having someone to talk to, to connect with. It was something he hadn’t had for a very long time and William didn’t want to give it up. And Indie was right to believe Will didn’t lie to him, most of the time he didn’t and he wasn’t sure why he had lied before, rather than just saying he didn’t want to tell Indie where he had been. Maybe that was what he should have done, but no doubt that would have hurt his friend’s feelings too.

So when the question came again, William blinked as he tried to gather his thoughts. The blonde drew back to his side of the sofa, resting his back against the cushioned arm rest, pulling his feet up closer to himself. He didn’t like seeing that look in those blue eyes and wanted to get rid of it.

How long had it been now? Two years? A little more? What would it hurt to tell the truth?

“Plymouth. I went to Plymouth to see Suzanna,” William said, turning his gaze away from Indie to stare blankly at the television. He knew it might earn some mockery, which was why he hadn’t said it before. William could be cold, uncaring, forgetful, but there were things that mattered to him a hell of a lot.

"Happy now?" he asked in a distant voice.

Indie watched him for a few moments, struggling to recall that name and what it meant - he knew it was important, and not just because Will was acting like a cat with a stick up its butt.  He\'d heard it before... he recalled asking about it more than once and it\'d always taken a while but he\'d got answers... damnit, why could he remember the taste of the name but not the reason why it was so important?!

"Yeah," he said softly, pondering whether he should ask who Suzanna was.  It might make Will mad if he thought he wasn\'t paid enough attention to that the name- and then it struck him, simply because he\'d stopped searching for it.  The wife!  Indiana barely held in the grin of triumph, for it wasn\'t appropriate in such a serious moment, but damn was he pleased with himself!  He\'d remembered something important!

"Your wife, right?  Why all of a sudden?"  Though the question was asked placidly enough, the underlying meaning wasn\'t so banal: she\'s dead right?  Can\'t get much deader.  Why\'d you up and leave now, when it could\'ve been any time, right?  Not like she\'s going anywhere...

Will took in a slow breath, hearing the underlying questions, which was part of the reason why he never brought it up and never wanted to discuss it. But they’d started now.

“It’s stupid. But it was the anniversary of her death. And I always go, even though there’s nothing of what we made there now.” He lifted a hand to run through his tousled hair, glancing sideways towards Indie, wanting to see his reaction, even though he was telling himself he didn’t care and bracing himself for a laugh. But he was hoping Indie might remember his reaction to the mocking before, and perhaps tone it down somewhat.

The worst he got in the way of judgment was a considered head tilt/shrug when he said, \'It\'s stupid\'.  Indie kind of agreed with that, but he wasn\'t about to condemn the guy for it; he didn\'t see why he couldn\'t access the woman\'s spirit or whatever it was from anywhere, seeing as she was dead, but he got that it was tradition.  Like shouting, "Bring it on!" before he leapt off something spectacular.  This sort of shit just kind of crept up on you and then you were stuck with it.

The redhead also got why he wasn\'t invited along - that sort of shit would be pretty personal (not to mention boring to stand around and fucking watch) - but he didn\'t get why he couldn\'t be told beforehand.  "And you couldn\'t\'ve told me where you were going, dickhead?  Instead of leaving me here thinking you were ash somewhere?" he demanded in an affronted tone; it was playful, though, signalling he didn\'t want to get into any heavy sort of a conversation about William\'s dead wife at the moment, just have his objection to being left in the dark registered.  Again.

Okay, so perhaps he had a point. He could have let Indie know, but he knew it would have lead to more questions, or Indie asking to come along which Will hadn’t wanted. They were friends, Indie might have tried to offer support and Will didn’t want that.

He could hear the more lighthearted tone in Indie’s voice and he grasped that chance to get away from this with both hands.

“Maybe I wanted to see how long I had to disappear for before you started to worry about me being ash,” WIll said with a smile, poking one leg out to nudge Indie with a toe. “I’m sure you’ve spent longer away from here with some of those hussies you love anyway. You should just admit you missed me, I’m looking forward to having my ego massaged by those messages you left for me,” he added with a chuckle.

(ooc: Bit of a Godmode at the start here, hopefully I got it right?  Lemme know if not!)

Indie cringed as he casually reached out and grabbed the foot connected to that toe and pulled it onto his thigh - only to jab his thumb underneath the toe and force it back at a truly painful angle.  "I told you to delete those!" he ordered austerely.  As he\'d anticipated, his manoeuvre instigated instant and physical retribution from William that saw all serious conversation suspended for a good ten minutes.

When the younger, inferior redhead had finally conceded his place in their partnership (face smushed into the carpet, two arms pinned behind his back, ass up in the air and legs tenuously holding him steady beneath Will\'s dominant strength) with a muffled-yet-reluctant bellow that indicated his concession, he flopped back up on the couch and thought of a new question.  Well, several, really.

"So.  What\'s the plan with this... what\'shername?  The fledgling bitch?  Why\'ve you got such a hard on for breaking her and how\'re you gonna\' make it happen?"  As he spoke, he added an extra expletive beneath his breath as he looked down at his clothes and saw his shirt had lost several buttons.  He set about removing it while he listened to Will\'s reply.

((ooc: fine by me!))

William had a smug grin on his face as they found their places on the sofa, after besting his roommate in a tussle once again. It was just what the blonde needed to distract him and bring himself back from the less than cheerful mood he’d been getting himself into. Feeling a lot more relaxed, he sprawled out with an arm stretched out along the back of the sofa, facing Indie as more questions came.

The smile faded slightly as Indie brought up his fledgling once again and the questions came at him, some of which William didn’t have a firm idea on yet, but maybe bouncing them off someone would help.

“Her name’s Ahinawake, Anna,” William said, “I met her when he tribe was being destroyed and I saved her from that fate, but she never wanted to move on from them. I was never a good sire, I probably never will be, I should have taken her away from them,” he added honestly.William let his gaze drift over Indie’s body unashamedly as his shirt was removed, enjoying the view as he mulled over the situation and everything that had happened. He’d wanted to help, but he’d probably made things worse for the young woman. And he hadn’t cared enough to work out what was really the best for those he cared for.

“Anyway, she found one of them, dying, and she wanted me to sire him because she couldn’t do it. I refused and since she wouldn’t leave him, I left her. She was supposed to follow me, she could have found me, but she didn’t care enough about me.”

The blonde tilted his head sideways as he gazed at Indie, lifting his gaze to those blue eyes instead of the revealed body, speaking again just as it looked like the redhead might have something to say about it.

“I know, there are better things to get worked up about, but I’ve had a long time to stew over this,” he added casually.

“And I’m not sure what to do yet. But she had her eye on a pretty young human tonight and she’s seeing her again. I might wait until they get closer, then kill the human. I’m not sure yet,” the blonde said with a shrug.

Indiana\'s mouth worked noiselessly as he was momentarily distracted by trying to get his lips around that name.  It was a doozy, and as easily forgotten as it was heard.  Anna was much easier.  He could remember that.  He realised Will was talking and paid more attention, nodding and frowning as the story seemed to warrant it.

"So... you\'re pissed at her because she didn\'t leave her people and follow you?  Or because she wanted you to make another fledgling?  How come she was jonesing for you to turn the guy so bad?  was there... some sort of lurve triangle going on?" he grinned, leaning towards Will and prodding teasingly at any part of the older vampire that looked good to poke (that he could get a finger jabbed into).

“I was fine following her tribe, it was quite fun, training her as she protected them. She could be quite wonderfully bloodthirsty when the mood struck her,” Will said, kicking out viciously at Indie as the other vampire poked him as though to punctuate how cruel Anna could be.

“He was part of her tribe and was going to die, he was all… diseased and about to starve. He was pathetic and two is a good number anyway. We didn‘t need him. Three can be too crowded, starts votes and crap like that. Two is good,” William said with a nod.

“So I left because if I‘d been there when he died she would never have stopped going on at me about letting him die. And I expected her to follow me, she could have found me easily. But she didn’t and I didn’t go back for her. So here we are and she’s already pining after someone else. I wonder if she knows how to sire people yet. God, if she sired her and then I got rid of her, that would be even better,” William said, his face lighting up with a grin.

Indie squinted suspiciously at Will, his expression haughty.  "So you want her to suffer," he surmised, but he had another, simple question that made his eyes glitter blue and his tongue to snake out to moisten his lips - almost as if his mouth was watering at the thought of getting his answer.  "But... why?  What\'s it going to prove?  That you\'re... better than her?  Nastier?  You want her... attention?  Why?"

William pursed his lips slightly at the question, his eyes drifting downwards to watch that tempting tongue dart out. He had trusted Anna and she had thrown it back in his face. He wondered for a moment whether Indie would so something like that… and if he did, would Will feel this desire to get revenge? At the moment, probably not. But maybe if a couple of hundred years passed and he let himself forget how close they had been… Their initial friendship had been boosted by Will’s desire to fuck the redhead, but that had changed now. Not that Will would kick Indie out of bed, but that wasn’t the fuel behind this now. They were closer than that, friends, brothers, but that would make it hurt all the more.

“Because I can and she deserves it. I have nothing to prove, I just want to hurt her and now I have the chance,” William said with a nonchalant shrug. “Do I need more reason? It’s not like I’m looking for your approval before I go ahead with this,” he added with a slight frown. Why the Hell did the reasons behind this matter so much to Indie? William wanted to do it, as much as Indie enjoyed the rush of leaping from a cliff, which Will didn’t question, he just accepted it.

To all that defensiveness and annoyance, Indie merely gave a grunt as reply.  A russet eyebrow then quirked, arching playfully over eyes more blue than matching at that moment.  A dimple also dug into one cheek as he smirked and looked Will up and down in a deliberately (falsely) coy manner.

"So\'d\'you fuck her?  Was she all... native and... aggressive and shit?" he demanded lewdly, wiggling down lower in the couch because his body wavered like a small child excited by the prospect of a new toy.  His fingers also waggled, like a magician casting a spell and bringing something tasty to bear in the space between them.

Will smiled in relief as Indie dropped the more intrusive questions in favour for the fun loving boy he loved spending time with. If he cared more about Anna he might have avoided these questions, but now he was happy to give Indie what he wanted.

“Of course. It would have been hard to resist, she’s… well, you’d be drooling like a puppy but I reckon you wouldn’t stand a chance with her,” Will said in a teasing voice, half wanting to see the red head try. Of course, that would only be entertaining if she did turn Indie down. If she responded in kind Will would be furious with both of them.

“She was definitely a change from the… she was from a different world. She still is. If I didn‘t know better I‘d say she took to the ground for the past hundred years.” Of course, he would have taken his Susanna any day over the savage, but at that point he hadn’t been looking for a replacement, he’d wanted a complete change and Anna had been that. The switch to men had come later.

"Pfft, I have skills you can\'t even imagine, bitch!" Indie postured, inspired by his boasting to adopt a dominant position and coming up onto one knee (the other leg was off the couch) in order to loom over Will.  He fell forward, his hands stabilising him somewhere either side of Will\'s head and body, his crotch deliberately nudging the blonde vampire\'s thigh - a position of trust, to be sure, even if he was just fooling around.

"Tell me more about what she\'s like!  I\'ll try to imagine her!" he cried, closing his eyes and pretending to experience ecstasy as he thought of Anna and ground against Will, thrashing his head wildly from side to side.  "Oh yeahhhh, a dirty little Indian girl!"
Title: Re: Abandonment Issues

“I have quite an imagination,” Will said with a grin, allowing Indie to gain the dominant position and leaning back against the arm of the chair as the redhead writhed over him, instinctively responding by lifting his thigh to create a little more pressure for Indie to grind against.

“Well, when I let her have her way…” Will said thoughtful, watching Indie’s eyes slip shut and then taking that moment to grab the younger vampire and flip their bodies, putting himself on top in a movement which could have ended them up on the floor but the blonde managed to keep them on the sofa. It was actually so long ago and there had been so many people between, the actual details were hazy, but that didn’t matter too much and a few things did stand out.

Will leant down, resting his weight on one elbow beside Indie’s head, leaving his other hand free to lightly stroke Indie’s throat.

“She was so young, bloodthirsty all the time. We’d bring in a human, have their blood, drink from each other. Fuck, it was amazing,” he murmured, before his hand moved swiftly to grab Indie’s crotch through his jeans.

“With all your experience I’m sure you know how unforgettable feeding as you cum is. And the things she can do with her body, the positions she can get into. My God,” William said, letting Indie’s imagination do most of the work, although he guessed that Indie wouldn’t want to hear too much as his hand began to massage through the thick denim. “She loved nature. Fucking outside was her favourite. We’d be just in the middle of a forest and she get all horny and we’d fuck up against trees and boulders.”

A very strange thing happened once Will assumed the dominant position and began fondling Indie; he went completely docile.

In previous times, a man doing such a thing to him would have had him leering, laughing and punching him away, taunting the other for daring to touch his package.  The thing was, Will wasn\'t just any man and it was a fact that the redhead knew only instinctively... until now.

Even when they\'d first met, Will had teased him and touched him in roundabout ways, but it hadn\'t been the same; they hadn\'t spent two years locked at one anothers\' sides at that stage, there hadn\'t been the respect, the connection forged.  It was a totally different story now.

Now, that instinct that had kept him blind to his fealty to William also subdued him in the face of the other\'s superiority.  They\'d had enough tussles, enough brawls, wrestles and flat-out fights in the past two years that he knew he was bested whenever there was a physical contest between them.  Automatically, he knew he would lose.  Now that the man had his hand massaging a very vulnerable place, not only was he fearful enough to hold still, but he was fundamentally submissive, disarmed and acquiescent due to pathways already entrenched in his brain, his behaviour pattern and their relationship.

There was an entirely different factor at play here too, though, and that was the one that had alarm bells going off deep inside the forgetful vampire\'s brain.  Not only was he passive beneath Will\'s fondling, he was beginning to harden, to listen to his sexy talk, to think about the horny rut-bunny that was being described, to enjoy the sensation of being laid on top of, whispered to and seduced.  The alarm bells weren\'t loud enough to stop it, they were dim and there was nothing too intrusive, nothing too offensive happening to his half-naked body that made them ring any louder just yet.

He gave a weak laugh and stared owlishly up at Will\'s face, so close to his - but that was nothing new, nothing to worry about.  Being such a base creature, one reacting to instinct so often had undermined Indie in this case, for he had learned submission without even being aware of it.  He wasn\'t even aware of it now, in fact, as far as he knew, he was just laying there enjoying the getting-felt-up part and listening to a pretty sexy story.

"Sounds like my sort of woman.  When the fuck can I meet her?" he giggled, his eyelids drooping and his lips parting in a silent sigh as he nudged back against the hand working him, his own hands resting limply against the couch beneath him.

The arm Will was propped up on swivelled slightly, so Will’s pale fingers could curl through Indie’s soft red hair as his other hand continued to gently massage. He could feel the hardening under his grip and to be honest it surprised the blonde. He expected Indie to act as he always had, laughing, mocking, trying to escape, but none of that was happening. Indie wasn’t responding in kind… or at all. He was just lying there, letting Will do whatever he wanted.

“Want to add her to your list of conquests? Tell me, how would you plan on seducing her? What’s your grand plan to tame the wild beast?” he asked, letting his eyes wander downwards over the pale skin below him. God, feeling Indie like this, his arousal, and being able to do whatever he wanted, it was pretty arousing, but Will wasn’t going to let himself get carried away. Indie was probably just waiting for a good moment to laugh. Or if he did start reacting badly then Will knew he would stop. He wanted the gorgeous creature beneath him, but he wanted him as a friend more. Which was why he’d always stopped before despite being stronger than Indie. He could have made the younger vampire submit any time, but the protests made him stop. There were no protests yet though.

“Maybe if I like what you say I’ll let you sooth her after I’ve kill the human by helping her get out all that aggression, hmm?”

Will leant down, dragging his lips and teeth lightly over Indie’s chest, leaving a red mark which he then soothed with the touch of his tongue, not breaking skin yet, despite the temptation.

Indie watched Will\'s mouth move towards his chest, the angle making it a very easy thing for his eyes to simply fall closed when the shivers from the contact crawled through him.  He looked upon darkness, trying to imagine a way that he might entrance Will\'s fledge and finding it increasingly difficult to think with his friend manipulating him so well.

"I dunno\'," he murmured thickly, his thoughts preoccupied with lips and tongues and hands just then.  "\'s she older than me?  Would she rough me up before I got to use my... tongue... on her?"

“She’s… about your age,” Will said thoughtfully, lifting his head for a moment as he tried to really sense Indie’s age, which the redhead didn’t know other than a rather large time span. He felt about the same as Anna, but he wasn’t sure exactly.

“But she won’t be responsive if you force her down to use your tongue on her, you may have to work a little harder than that,” William added as his fingers worked to undo Indie’s jeans and his hand slid inside, circling Indie’s hardening cock. “But put in some effort - don’t let on you know me - she could be putty in your hands. You’re going to have to wash my scent off you pretty thoroughly, kid,” the blonde said as his cool fingers stroked firmly, his hips beginning to grind downwards against Indie’s thigh and his head dropped down to gently caress his collar bone with his tongue, working towards his throat.

Fuck, he was trying to go slowly, still expecting Indie to say stop and not wanting to go too fast in case the redhead missed his chance, but it was definitely getting more difficult when he felt the body underneath him responding so well.

Indie\'s eyelids fluttered open, a frown of confusion forming on his brow as his gaze met Will\'s hair, watching it bob and weave over his chest.  There was slightly more alarm now, with the feel of the other vampire\'s hand wrapped around him, but there was relief, too.  He wasn\'t feeling so caged in his pants and it was easy to think about sliding into a feisty woman with a hand wrapped around him, his hips automatically lifting and falling to encourage the rhythm.

"Keep that up... you\'ll have to... wash... me... off you," he warned, his words also keeping pace with his body as his head fell back on the soft, flat arm of the couch, eyes drifting shut once more.

“Doesn’t sound too bad,” Will responded with a grin, lifting his head to kiss Indie’s cheek gently as his fingers slowed, not wanting Indie to finish too soon.

“Although it’s tempting to see what that tongue you boast about can do. Maybe you should show me those skills, so I can judge whether or not it will help you get that slick cunt around your cock. To have her writhing over you, her back arching, toes curling, her mouth on yours, making your whole body tingle with delight.”
Title: Re: Abandonment Issues

Indie whimpered a little, finding that kiss to be in direct contrast to the lively humming of the rest of his body; it touched his heart, warming him in ways that even friction couldn\'t, making him consciously aware of a truth that his panic had been hiding from him at the start of the evening.  He was extremely attached to the other vampire and without him, he\'d be miserable.

Still, there was a difference between showing devotion by allowing someone to manipulate him to climax, and getting down on his knees and doing it for the man he cared about.  He wasn\'t at that stage of devotion yet.

"You... fucking... wish," he laughed breathily, the very nature of his refusal undermined by the fact that there was no conviction behind the words.  He meant them, of course, but the way he laughed it off didn\'t make it sound that way.  At last one of his hands twitched to life and snuck up to cup Will\'s crotch as best he could.  "If... only you.. had... a cunt."

William gave a low chuckle as Indie rejected the idea, which Will had expected him to do, but he still wasn’t requesting a halt to the blonde’s advances.

“Sounds like me having a cunt is your wish, darling. I’m perfectly happy as I am, and it feels like you are too, despite what you say,” William breathed against Indie’s ear, nipping at the lobe as his fingers on Indie quickened again in respond to the redhead’s hand on him - although he had tensed up a little, unsure whether the hand would remain peaceful or if Indie was about to start reacting badly.

"You\'re going to cum for me, despite my lack of a cunt for you to shove it in."

Again, the redhead gave a breathy laugh and his hand fell away from Will\'s crotch to rest harmlessly on the couch once more.  Instinctively, he nuzzled his cheek against his roommate\'s, not overthinking this, just laying back with his eyes closed, accepting.

"You c\'n use your mouth, if you want," he murmured through a smile.

He couldn’t help but respond at the nuzzle, his own eyes half shut, savouring this situation, which he’d never thought Indie would allow. The younger vampire seemed to be using his imagining Anna as an excuse to allow this to happen and she’d fucked up enough that whilst it was a good start, Will didn’t want it to go on that way.

William gave a snort of derision at the suggestion that he use his mouth on Indie, shaking his head and lifting his hand from Indie’s erection to grip his jaw firmly.

“Open your eyes. Look at me. I am not going to play at being some whore for you. Tell me you want me to do this. And know that it’s me,” William said with a quiet growl in his voice.
Title: Re: Abandonment Issues

Instinctively, Indie tried to pull out of Will\'s grip, frowning petulantly up at him as he resented the breaking of the lovely spell his superior had been weaving.  His hands came up, trying to push at an iron wrist even as his jaw attempted to thrash from side to side and wiggle away, to no avail.  His lips pressed together in a pout then, and he glared up at Will hatefully, wondering what the fuck he\'d done to deserve being treated like this.

"What the fuck!" he demanded, his mouth pooched due to his thrashing to get away, and his voice somewhat thick due to the manner in which he was forced to talk.  Confusion was melting into embarrassment, making him painfully aware of his pathetic condition just then, spreadeagled and vulnerable beneath a fucking predator he\'d trusted.  Stupidly.

"Who the fuck else would it be?" he queried angrily, pushing at Will\'s hand with renewed enthusiasm.  Sure, he\'d been thinking of a nice wet pussy to dip into, but he\'d known it was Will wanking him, there was no mistaking a man\'s hand for a woman\'s.  He felt stupid now, though, and intensely ashamed of letting it happen.  He needed to get away and recoup his pride somehow; not to mention understand where he\'d gone wrong in just letting Will do whatever he wanted.  How the fuck was this his fault?

"Forget it, just... fucking let me go!" he yelled, his entire body beginning to buck as he clawed and thrashed at the hand pinning him in place by the jaw, his arousal gone and desperation rising fast in its place.

“You’re imagining all sorts of crap and I am not going to do this that way,” Will snapped, tightening his hold and curling his hands more tightly in Indie’s hair. This was fucking frustrating - Indie had been so docile, contented, will could probably have carried on that way… but then what? Indie would have freaked out afterwards instead and that would have been worse. Right?

“Quit fidgetting,” Will shouted back as Indiana’s struggles grew and Will increased the pressure of his body down on the redhead. “I’m not going to fucking rape you. I have always stopped when you were uncomfortable. What the Hell was different this time? What’s wrong with you?” he growled, sitting up a little more, still with his firm grip on his friend.

He knew it was futile to struggle and he didn\'t want to lay there with his pants open and his dick deflating and talk about his feelings like some fucking nancy cockhead that alternately swanned about in his spare time saving whales or some shit.  He just wanted to go.

Given his predicament, however, he knew that was not possible, so he did the next best thing he could think to do.  He shut his eyes and didn\'t respond, blocking Will out with all the effectiveness and reasoning of a tantrumming four year old.

Will raised an eyebrow as Indie shut his eyes. To complete the picture he really should have stuck his fingers in his ears and sung at the top of his voice. He was behaving like a spoilt child and William hated this side of him.

“You are such a shit. I come in here, you attack me for going away, then you’re all up for getting your rocks off, now you’re being all… “ Unable to articulate exactly how Indie was acting, William let out a yell of frustration, smacking Indie’s head against he arm of the sofa before lifting his hands off of him and climbing off his friend and the sofa, running his hands through his hair as he turned away.

“You’re so fucked up,” he muttered, shoving the coffee table with his foot, not enough to damage it, but it moved a couple of feet.

As soon as he was released, his hands dove for his pants, tucking and zipping away his pride and joy as quickly as he was able, barely listening to Will bluster.  Once he was covered up, he felt better about things, especially since Will had moved away and allowed him an escape route.

"Says the man who\'s carried a grudge against some bitch for two hundred fucking years, all because she didn\'t heel when he demanded it," he spat harshly, knowing it was none of his business, that it was unfair to strike out at Will via something he barely knew the details of, but doing it anyway because he was hurting and humiliated and confused and it was what he did best.  Fucked things up.

Even as he spoke, he was moving, propelling himself directly over the back of the couch and walking towards the front door, wrenching it open so hard the hinges groaned and once the cold air hit his face he was running, running, needing to get the fuck away from Will and his intensity, from stupid conversations about shit he didn\'t want to think about.  From his own feelings.

He ran without a goal, pushing his body hard, wanting to feel pain in his muscles however briefly, to feel the wind whipping past him, to pound the pavement so hard it cracked.  If he did all that, he might just outrun the awkwardness inside his little house, and even the vampire in it.  Even if William didn\'t try to catch him - which he could do easily - he\'d be there when he got back, he supposed, but he was planning to run everything out of his system by then, and pretend nothing had happened.

It was possible that Will might even allow that, and the thought already made him feel better.

Will turned with an open mouth to snap at Indie for the jibe at the situation with Anna, but the redhead was already running away - hiding from the situation like always. It had been so long since they’d stumbled across this issue, Will had thought it was over, but when Indie had reacted like that, encouraging, willing… he hadn’t been able to resist.

As Indie reached the door so did one of the remotes for one of their games consoles, smashing into pieces and leaving a crack in the doorframe after it had been hurled in anger by the blonde. He didn’t bother trying to follow Indie - tussling in the street was not going to make this any better. Will flopped onto sofa, turning on the sound system full blast and shutting his eyes, trying to drown out his own thoughts. He had enough problems with Anna, he didn’t need them with Indie too.

He ran until he was tired, and then he ran some more.  When the sluggishness that heralded the dawn arriving in an hour or so seeped into him, he turned around and ran even harder for home, needing to exhaust himself to make it before the sun did.

It was not far off when he finally pelted into the living room, coming to a sudden stop and slamming the door closed behind him.  He didn\'t look for Will, didn\'t acknowledge anything in the house, he just kept his head down, looked at the carpet and followed it all the way to the stairs to the basement.

The plan was to get to his coffin, crawl inside and pull the lid closed over him, so he could keep pretending everything between he and Will was okay, that it was good to have his roommate home again, that nothing would be different when the sun sank again in twelve hours\' time.

If nothing else, Indie was a dreamer.

Will didn’t move as the slamming door disturbed his peace and he made no attempt to talk to his housemate as Indie stormed past. He knew it was Indie without needing to look, his smell, his whole presence, it was unmistakable.

As the sun rose, William stayed where he was, feeling the weariness taking over his soul but, as always, not giving in to sleep, but listening to music flow through the house. Fortunately, he’d put on the link to the computer, not a CD, so he didn’t need to move to keep the music coming, it just picked randomly through his mixed collection.

As the sun began to descend, William finally moved from his position. He slid from the sofa, padding barefoot through the house, seeking out Indie and finding him in the basement. Not caring about disturbing his companion’s sleep, William lifted the top section of the coffin\'s and let it swing out of the way, clattering to the side. Will hopped up to sit (somewhat gingerly in case it wasn\'t up for holding the weight, but finding it was) on top of the bottom section of the lid, which was still shut. He folded his lid, staring blankly at the wall in front of him after eyeing up the half naked vampire in the coffin, patiently waiting for the redhead to wake up. He didn\'t want to be accused of perving on Indie whilst he slept (since he wasn\'t... much), so he kept his gaze averted until the redhead awoke.

“Feeling better, kid?” Will asked as he felt Indie wake up, not bothering to move from his position, apart from glancing sideways.

Indie rolled onto his back and rubbed his eyes with the heel of his right hand, blinking down at Will hovering above his feet.  Despite everything, he was happy to see his roommate there, something scared inside him quelled by just seeing the blonde\'s arrogant face peering down at him.

"Yeah," he said huskily, glancing around himself to figure out where he was through the fog of lingering sleepiness.  "Could use a fuck-ton of blood, though," he observed, feeling the hunger in him because of the exertion he\'d put on his body in order to get to sleep without dreams.  He felt grubby for it, knowing he\'d run in his jeans only and fearful of what his dirty feet had done to the pristine satin of his coffin.

His gaze came back to Will and he watched him owlishly, wondering if his friend was here for a purpose other than coffin squatting.  He really hoped it wasn\'t to talk about last night some more.

“Mm,” William murmured as Indie declared his need for blood and he pursed his lips thoughtfully. He was considering asking something about last night, maybe what Indie had done after running off, or maybe requesting he refrain from humping his leg next time… but he resisted, just about. Really he was just relieved Indie was talking to him and not acting too weirdly - although to be honest that sense of peace he could gleam from the redhead was a little peculiar considering the way they had left things last night.

“Let’s go find you some food then. I’m going to shower first. I might order a new X-Box controller whilst I’m in my room. One of ours… well, we need another one,” he said with a shrug before slipping off the top of the coffin to land on his feet. “Where do you want to feed?” he asked as he headed for the door, pausing before reaching it to glance back at his companion. He knew he should probably drink too, it had been a few days and would most likely help get his mind off things.

Indie climbed out of the coffin with less grace than usual, due to the less-than-stellar condition he\'d ravaged his body into, squinting thoughtfully at William stopped at the bottom of the basement stairs.

He had a bad feeling about the offer, though he supposed it was meant in the spririt of mending fences or whatever.  Thing was, things never went to plan when they attempted to feed together and he doubted, after last night, that trying it tonight would be the best idea either of them had ever had.

"Was thinking I\'d hit up Risk.  It has the sweetest feeding rooms.  You sure you want to come with me?" he enquired, as good as saying, \'I need some relief from what you almost did to me last night and that\'s the best place to get laid without having to worry about you\'.

Because he was being as casual as possible about hinting that they were better off having some time apart, Indie made a show of looking at the coffin, dismayed to see that he had, indeed, got dirt in it.  He\'d have to get it cleaned, he decided, walking slowly towards where Will was at the base of the stairs, not making eye contact with him, allll casual and not a care in the world.  Much.

Will stood silently, watching Indie approach for a few seconds. Well, that was a pretty flat out rejection and Will hated the fact that it actually bothered him. They didn’t really often go out together because they looked for completely different things in feeding and ended up mock each other’s choices, but Will had just… for some reason he’d assumed they would go together and he had no clue why. Hearing Indie brush him off like that… it sucked.

“No, I don’t feel like Risk tonight. I’ll probably head somewhere quieter. You have fun though,” Will said, noticing Indie looking anywhere but at him, but deciding not to comment on it. What was the fucking point? He could have insisted on going with him, making Indie feel uncomfortable throughout his feed and probably fairly successfully cockblock him. But despite their argument, Will didn\'t want to make the redhead completely miserable.

“See you later,” he added before heading off to disappear into his room upstairs and if Indie didn’t try to get his attention again then the blonde would wait for Indie to go out before leaving the house himself to find a meal. he’d already decided not to hunt out Anna again for a few nights, but there were plenty of other things to do in the city.

"Yeah, I shouldn\'t be too late," he assured Will\'s back with false brightness, but he cursed himself immediately afterwards because he wasn\'t sure why he\'d said such a thing, especially in that tone.  He\'d sounded like... a fifties housewife assuring her darling husband that she wouldn\'t take long to subserviently collect all the groceries she\'d need to feed him before she was back where she was supposed to be.  In his house.  Fuck that.

Shaking his head at himself, he raced up the stairs out of the basement and headed for his own bedroom.  He managed to shower, dress up and ride out of the garage on his bike without seeing Will again, wondering idly what it would be like to be blood-connected to someone to the point that you never had to wonder where they were, or what they were doing.  You just knew.  He was fairly sure his own sire was dead, because he didn\'t have even a faint pull to anywhere in the world any more, and it seemed strange, at times, to think about being untethered.

Especially when there was still a desire in him to be tethered to someone.

Risk welcomed him with the fervour he was looking for and he was sorry that Wild Hunt weren\'t playing.  He missed Vivi.  she\'d stopped taking his calls and turning up to see her after gigs hadn\'t worked out for him so well after that one time and then... well, he\'d more or less forgotten the taste of her by now.  All he really remembered was that he\'d liked her taste almost as much as he liked newborn babies\' blood and that he wanted to try it again on principle, someday.

He threw himself into the throng of abandon that was the dance floor, glaring at some guy that wanted to rub up against his ass before he did the same thing to a lesbian that spat curses at him.  Eventually, he found a rhythm and a partner that he liked and she was willing to go with him to one of the feeding rooms, so his night immediately improved.  When she asked if she could bring her friend - who was way chunkier, but still pretty and too shy and self-conscious to hunt any action out for herself - his night rate just about shot through the roof.

The three of them were occupied for an hour in the feeding room and he not only came twice (a number each girl almost trebled by the time he was done with her), but he was so full of blood that his boots practically sloshed when he walked.  They left the room and he made sure they got some food to give them strength before they left club and he awkwardly drove them home on his bike.  He dropped the outgoing one off first, because it\'d turned out that the chubby one was quite a wildcat in bed and he gave her the treat of another climax on the bike, out the front of her parents\' house, before he let her go.

When he got home three hours after he\'d left, then, he walked out of the garage with a very satisfied smirk flitting about his mouth, his face and fingers reeking of dried-up pussy juices (and his cock too, for that matter) and his body singing a happy, contented song.  He wanted nothing more than to end the night with another shower and perhaps a movie watched with Will from their shared couch.  He went seeking his roommate to make the proposition even as he thought of it, not thinking too much about how he smelled.

Will had decided to head to the park to feed - it was quiet there, peaceful, and it didn’t take long for him to find a suitable candidate. The young man was obviously on his way home from a class or the library, there was a satchel over his shoulder and he was wearing headphones. Young people these days, they had no idea what dangers were out there.

Will appeared behind him, wrapping his arms around the human and pulling him into the shadows before the kid could cry out. His victim struggled uselessly until William sank his teeth into him, making him relax as William focused on sending calming thoughts to him. Will usually didn’t bother with mental powers, but he could do a little, it usually just seemed like more effort than seducing someone with words. Tonight though he didn’t want to waste time, he just wanted to drink and get home so he would be there when Indie got back. He couldn’t have said why, but that was what he wanted.

As his mind wandered to Indiana, William’s grip tightened on the human and he drank deeper. His fingers curled through the boy’s hair, remembering his grip on Indie’s hair the night before, how peaceful and docile the redhead had been, so obedient. His wondered briefly what Indie would taste like - his skin had been clean and fresh - his blood would probably taste more of whatever human he’d drunk from last though.

It was really quite enjoyable until the human went limp and his heart beat slowed. Will pulled back, blinking in surprise at how he’d let himself get carried away. A part of him was tempted to just carry on, but he couldn’t be bothered dealing with the hassle of a dead body. An unconscious one was bad enough. Sighing in frustration at himself William scooped up the human and deposited him on a bench, resting the kid’s head on his satchel and leaving the headphones blaring as he strolled home, fairly sure the human would be alright. And if someone less friendly found him… well, that wasn’t Will’s issue. He’d had a good meal and was satisfied in that regard at any rate. The thoughts of Indie had somewhat disturbed him through and instead of staying in the living room as planned Will disappeared into the bedroom, but he left the door open so that he would know when his housemate returned.

When Indie appeared finally Will was lying back on the bed, his head dangling off the edge, his violin discarded beside him, his fingers plucking at the strings but he’d given up actually playing it.

“You stink,” the blonde said, the smell invading the room as the redhead did and Will’s nose wrinkled up in disgust. “Found a suitable cunt then?”

"Two, actually," Indie murmured airily, sashaying into the bedroom and tilting his head as he stood just above Will\'s head and looked down at him.  It amused him even more than usual that the blonde was in a position just below his crotch.

"I\'m about to shower, don\'t worry.  Just wondered how your night went and if you wanted to watch a movie when I got out?"

“Good for you,” Will murmured, raising an eyebrow as he gazed up at Indie, letting his eyes drift over the crotch in front of his face, not bothering to be shy about it. He wasn’t surprised that Indiana had gone out and found a woman - or two - but that didn’t mean he liked it.

“Sure, sounds good. No romance films. Don’t want you getting all worked up again. It rarely ends well,” William said, sitting up and swivelling around so that he was upright and facing Indie with a smirk on his face.

“And my night went well. Almost killed someone, but he’ll be fine,” he added with a casual shrug, trying to distract himself from the stench of women. That so close and combined with the niggling feeling that Anna was closer - no near, just nearer the city - was not pleasant. He wished she was out of his head, or that there was something drowning it out.

William\'s jibe about the events of the night before struck home and subdued the redhead\'s mood somewhat.  "Right," he muttered, as nonchalantly as he was able, and headed out of Will\'s bedroom to his own.  Stripping off his clothes threw about all sorts of lovely scents for him, though, so his mood lightened again pretty quickly as he recalled the nice time he\'d had with J... something and her friend N... Ni...?  Na...?  Well, whatever the hell their names had been, they\'d been tasty and fun and filled him up with yummy feelings.

He spent a little longer than usual in the shower, just to be sure he\'d washed the women off him properly, because he didn\'t want Will going on about it while they were laying together on the couch.  It was all well and good to go out and fuck whomever he wished, but something obedient in him knew that it was a punishable offence to swipe it beneath Will\'s nose when they were having their own time together; it would be crass.

One he was dry, had scrubbed his short hair into a wayward froth with a towel and had applied some deodorant, Indie went into his bedroom to find something to wear.  His first urge was boxer shorts but they were barely any cover, really, with his bits sliding out one leg or the other if the silky material rode up in the slightest.  Still, he wasn\'t in the mood for anything heavy... he pulled on a pair of blue cotton briefs and his shiny blue satin boxers over them and headed for the lounge room.

"Fast and the Furious Five," he announced as he rounded the couch, opening the DVD case he\'d had for almost a week (and he\'d even put it in he player once or twice, but his worry about where William was had prevented him from paying any attention while the movie played, so he still actually needed to see it) and inserting the disc.  "Did you get the new XBox controller?" he added idly as he reached for the remote and then flopped onto the couch, his legs stretched out towards Will, planning on putting his feet in the other vampire\'s lap.

William had slowly made his way into the living room to wait for Indie, turning on the TV and flopping down in his usual spot. He was content to let Indie choose - as always. He didn’t care what they watched and the redhead was usually pretty opinionated so this worked out for the best and had done them well for the past two years.

“That the one where you made me watch the other four in a week? With the pretty blonde one and the big bald guy?” he said, trying to recall the storylines of the other films and then giving up. As far as he could remember they were all much the same.

“Yeah, I ordered another wireless one. It should get here in a day or so,” William said, lifting his hands to allow Indie to stretch out his long legs and propping up his own feet on the coffee table as his hands settled on Indie’s ankles, letting his fingers play over the pink tinged skin.

“You’re a good colour,” he said, pressing lightly on Indie’s skin to make white spots which quickly coloured as the pressure was released, messing around as the redhead fiddled around with the remote control to get the film playing. “And you smell better now,” he added approvingly, flashing a grin across at Indie.

Indie snorted, giving Will\'s poking fingers a bit of a kick in order to let him know he didn\'t like being inspected like a piece of meat in a market.  "You\'d be a good colour too, if you\'d drunk as much as I have.  And that\'s a matter of opinion," he responded haughtily, having rather liked the way he\'d smelled of lusty, satisfied women.

"I have it on good authority that you shared my opinion - once upon a time," he smirked, taking his eyes off the fast forwarding through the ads part on the screen to watch the effect of his dig at Will\'s age.  He was leaned up on his left elbow, grinning along the length of his body towards his friend, dimples flashing and cocky in his knowledge that he\'d quite enthusiastically fucked his fledgling.  Once upon a time.

Will didn’t comment on the kicks, but ceased prodding, to satisfy himself with simply running his fingers over his ankle, circling the bones of his joint and resisting the urge to tickle the clean toes.

“There’s a difference between enjoying a woman and reeking as though you’ve rolled in a vat of her cum,” he said, glancing up Indie’s body with a smile, enjoying the sight of those dimples, and really the entire view. Why the Hell did Indie insist on wearing next to nothing most of the time? Will had just about got used to it, but remembering how close they’d got the night before… Fuck.

His grey eyes turned back to the TV, wondering how Indie would react if he paraded around in just his underwear all the time. At the moment he was wearing his usual outfit for when they watched movies, a pair of loose sweats and a t-shirt which fitted his form well. It was comfortable, and around Indie he found it safer to keep the layers on.

Had Will voiced his opinion, it would\'ve given the redhead something to laugh at, for he believed he was dressed excessively, considering he was lounging comfortably in his own home, with no-one but his best friend to judge him.  If the best friend hadn\'t been there, he would\'ve been naked, but he knew the blonde wouldn\'t like that, so clothed he was!

He did laugh heartily at Will\'s comment about the vat of cum, finding it a delectable thought, but then the movie started and he settled back to enjoy it.  Every now and then, whenever Will\'s fingers brushed his ankle on their way up or down his leg, or smoothed along his foot, he would subconsciously acknowledge the contact with a small one of his own, brushing his foot along Will\'s thigh a little, nuzzling with his toes or tilting a foot forward to stroke the other thigh, a reassuring gratitude pat returned.

By the time the movie finished, Indie had sat up out of Will\'s hold, too excited by the climactic fight scenes to lay there any longer, his left leg bent and his foot tucked against his ass while he hugged it, his right on the carpet.  He was pressed up against Will; there was plenty of space on his other side that he could\'ve sat in and it would\'ve meant he wasn\'t more or less squashing his friend into a corner, but he didn\'t notice.  He was too busy being thrilled by the action - and shocked by the twist at the end.

"Oh my God!" he breathed, turning to look at Will with wide eyes and an open mouth that proclaimed his surprise clearly.  It only took him a moment to realise that his friend had no real recollection of the movies in the series up to that point and therefore didn\'t realise the possibilities that number six in the franchise would bring.  He gave Will\'s thigh a shove, a recriminating expression on his face.  "Fuck you\'re annoying!" he admonished.  "I try so hard to educate you, but you resist my teachings and so you completely miss the path!"  He was beginning to enjoy his preaching, his eyes turning bluer and glinting more as he warmed to his topic.

"You\'re ignorant!  You don\'t get anything!  How do you even remember to put your clothes on?  Sometimes I wonder about you!"

Will enjoyed the film, he always did, but after watching them most of the details slipped away. It was just a story, not important. And to be honest, he loved the way Indie reacted when Will gave him a blank look, as though he’d just woken up from a two hour nap.

“I get plenty. And I enjoyed it, I just…” Will gestured at the TV, then looked back at Indie with a grin, “Besides, I have you. You’ll be happy to remind me of all of this before the next one comes out so why does it matter? I would be taking away your joy, and I’m nicer than that,” he added with a chuckle.

Indie made a soft snorting sound and turned the entertainment system off, leaving them bathed only in the glow of blue standby lights.  He rested his head back against the soft suede couch and then allowed it to loll, so that he was looking at Will through lazy, half-lidded eyes.

"Yeah, you\'re nice.  Remind me again what the plan with Anna is?" he asked mockingly, frowning as if he was trying very hard to remember something distant.  Still, there was something very reassuring in hearing that he was expected to be around to remind Will of everything that had already transpired, when the next film in this franchise came out.  It made him feel... stable, if not tethered.

“I’m nice to people who deserve it. You have your moments. That’s why I keep you around,” Will said, letting his head flop back against he sofa as well as he watched Indie. “I was lovely to her when she behaved. Aren’t I nice to you?” he asked, lifting a hand to lightly stroke a finger along Indie’s jaw, loving seeing the redhead look so relaxed and at ease.

"You gonna sleep in the coffin again today?" he asked as his let his mind wander a little, thinking about how calm Indie had looked sleeping compared to during their argument the night before. He didn\'t usually sleep, and that was especially true when he was sharing a bed, but there would be worse views to see all through the day. And with the way Indie was acting... maybe he wouldn\'t be too opposed to the idea.

"Can\'t be that comfy really, or am I mistaken?" he asked, not wanting to leave too long a pause for Indie to think too much about it.

"Sometimes," the redhead snorted, making a show of swatting at the hand hovering around his face, except he didn\'t push it away so much as snatch it out of the air and drag it down to rest on their thighs, held lightly in his own.

"Nah," he answered the next question, and was already thinking about the benefits of his coffin when the final query came.  "Well, it\'s not soft, but it\'s, I like it \'cos it\'s, see it\'s..." he broke off, trying to put his thoughts into words, not realising that he was showing his thoughts by letting go of Will\'s hand and wrapping his arms about his upper body, hugging himself.  "Safe," he eventually finished, looking over his bicep at his friend.

He couldn\'t - or wouldn\'t - put into words the fact that the coffin was a place he retreated to when he was most troubled, most upset, and needed a haven of some sort - beyond saying it was where he felt \'safe\'.  His broad shoulders fit very snugly in the tight space, it cocooned him and made him feel steady when his heart and soul were entirely the opposite - that was exactly how he\'d felt the night before, when he and Will had fought.  Adrift and unsteady, in need of comfort and holding.

It was alright when he and Will weren\'t fighting.  When he was upset though, the coffin was what made him feel better.

He grinned and dropped his arms from around himself, not seeking out Will\'s hand again but resting his forearm against it instinctively.  "I\'ll be right, back in my own bed today.  Besides, I dirtied the coffin with my filthy feet last night, I\'m gonna\' hafta\' get the fuckin\' thing cleaned.  Where the fuck d\'you look for an at-home coffin cleaner?"  He brayed a laugh at the thought of going through the Yellow Pages hoping there\'d be that exact section in there for him to choose someone from.  Or a chemical advertised.  How the fuck would he clean it?

“Sometimes? Cheeky fuck,” Will muttered playfully, but he said no more as Indie tried to explain the coffin without too many words. His grey eyes drifted over the younger vampire as he hugged himself and his lips pressed together slightly at the chosen word.

Safe. Safe from… Will? It was after their fight and Indie had been pretty upset - so had Will. But it wasn’t like a coffin would actually protect him from Will is the blonde did decide to hurt him. But he got it was more a feeling than an actual secure place - and Will hadn’t realised Indie might want a place to hide from him. It was like a child storming off and locking themselves in their room to hide from a parent. Will hadn’t meant to make his friend feel like that.

“I would have thought you’d have some freaky friends who’ve experienced this issue before,” Will said, forcing himself to focus on Indie’s inane comments about the dirty coffin. “Undertaker - sure they see all kinds of fucked up crap in this city, they’d do it,” he added, although he really didn’t want to think about cleaning issues at the moment.

A part of him wanted to apologise - knowing it was his fault Indie had needed that comfort that day. But at the same time he knew very well that an apology like that could probably be mocked by the redhead and that would only piss him off, or end up making Indie retreat into the coffin once again. As would the suggestion William really wanted to make.

He turned his arm to curl his fingers through Indie’s, dropping his head back against the sofa to stare at the blue screen.

“If you hadn’t had that coffin before I arrived I could feel quite insulted at that,” he said idly without looking towards Indie.

The seriousness of the statement - despite the casual tone - had the redhead frowning, inspecting Will\'s profile in an effort to decipher his true meaning.  William\'d be... insulted that he\'d gone to his coffin yesterday?  Why?  Because he\'d said he felt safe in there?  His eyes widened slightly and he squeezed the fingers intertwined with his own in an effort to get his friend to look at him.

"I don\'t mean safe like that," he urged, his tone matching Will\'s seriousness, "I just mean... I was confused.  I was so scared you were gone for good, then you came back and I was so relieved, then you... touched me," he faltered, his frown returning along with the bewildered and embarrassed feeling he\'d had last night, instantly making him want to shy away from discussing this... but he saw a need to, if the alternative was insulting his friend, "n\'... I liked it but you got mad that I liked it n\' I couldn\'t figure out why you were so mad at me so... I exhausted myself by running and went to the coffin because... you were mad at me and... I was confused about why, so I needed... I just needed to feel better," he finished on barely a whisper, wondering if he\'d sounded as lame as he thought he had.

Had he even clarified anything?  His head was muddled with that godawful feeling of shame Will\'s turning on him had given him and he was pretty sure he\'d just reinforced the idea that he\'d run to the coffin to get away from Will, when he hadn\'t, really.  It was his retreat.

"When I\'m...

scared

worried, I feel like... I\'ll just float away into pieces and never be whole again, sometimes.  My memory\'s already gone half the time.  There\'s not much holding me together, it seems.  \'cept you.  When you were gone... I slept in there, too.  It closes me in and keeps me together.  When you don\'t."

Will’s gaze drifted back to Indie, watching him steadily and making no attempt to interrupt. He wanted to understand, to know what the redhead had been thinking and why he’d acted like that. Will was confused himself by the whole affair. He frowned slightly, his thumb running over Indie’s hand as he spoke, but it stilled as Indie fell silent finally.

When he was finished Will swivelled around, releasing Indie’s hand and putting it around Indie’s shoulders, pulling the younger vampire closer and hugging him tightly, ignoring any attempt Indie made to escape. His other arm dropped into Indie’s lap to grasp the hand he’d had to release to hug the kid.

“I was angry because I thought you liked it when you were imagining a woman. I felt like I was just… a tool. It was embarrassing.” It was a relief to know Indie had liked it… but he’d fucked it up. It had been going so perfectly and Will just hadn’t been able to believe it. He’d had to make it all more difficult than it was.

William pressed a kiss to Indie’s cheek, landing a little closer to the redhead’s lips than he’d meant to, but letting it linger.

“I’m sorry I left without telling you. Sleep beside me today?” he asked, knowing very well the request might be rejected, or Indie might point out that Will didn’t sleep, but he wanted to ask. He had no intention of touching his friend if the redhead didn’t want it, but he wanted to be there. He wanted to hold him, make him feel safe.

The hug felt so much nicer than he expected it to; it was better than the coffin wrapped around him, in fact, because it was Will... he\'d do anything for Will.

That was made even more clear when the kiss came and he almost turned his head to press his lips to his friend\'s.  A feeling of panic rose in him, but it was quelled by the feelings of safety, of reassurance, of submission to his friend.  Perhaps if he hadn\'t been being held it might\'ve been different, but those arms were like talismans, making him feel strong and unconquerable.  He would keep his lips to himself, for now, though.

"Yes," he said simply, looking forward to falling into sleep feeling exactly like this.  Safe.  With his world at rights, because his friend was curled around him.  Wordlessly, he got up, holding Will\'s hand, and followed him to his bedroom.
