Title: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Trillian on June 16, 2011, 02:33:27 PM
My head is spinning,
Like a whirlpool,
It\'s never ending,
You\'re making me dizzy!

Singing under his breath and walking a jagged line on the footpath, Quin had left the bar a couple of blocks up the street when they\'d refused to serve him more alcohol.

”Dizzy!" he half shouted, half sang to a nearby cat, who\'d believed itself unseen lurking in the shadows.  Shadows from a dark imp weren\'t much cover at all, and it yowled its protest before liquifying a path deeper into the alley where it zipped up an old rusty fire escape and looked disgustedly out at the imp who\'d frightened it so.

Quin was bent over at the middle, holding his knees, howling red-cheeked laughter.  It wasnt long before he had to lean against the building for support and wait for the spinning to stop.

"Dizzy..." he whispered, still in tune with the previous stanza, and kept the rest of the song in his head while he forged a path to the shop he could see was open.  It ended up being a coffee shop, and he stumbled inside.  With a nice, steaming hot pot of coffee in him, maybe he could sober up enough to be served some more alcohol back at the bar.

Humming the tune that revolved unconsciously in his head, Quin ambled through the surprisingly busy coffee shop (considering the lateness of the hour), bumping into chairs and tables on the way, both occupied and not, earning himself a mixture of stern and amused looks.

He made quite the picture, dressed as he was in a long sleeved white business shirt with a rumpled patchwork vest over it, (wings and tail tucked away, as were his ears covered by his long mopey curly hair), equally rumpled and Ill-fitting pants that bunched at his ankles, his stockinged feet quite obviously missing their shoes.

He found himself a stool at the counter and slapped his hand heartily upon it, drawing the attention of a few nearby customers but not the barista, who was busy serving coffees.

"i\'ll have me an Irish coffee!" he announced grandly, forgetting that the coffee shop had been a means to get sober.  He reached into his vest for some money and found himself staring out at the cafe proper, for the stool had swiveled him around without his realizing.

"Now where in the bloody hell did the bar go?" he muttered, peering at people sitting at tables sipping lattes.

Jake McCloud was enjoying the scene before him. The Ventrue was sitting in the coffee shop The Painted Bean, watching fellow Oligarch Quin stumble about. Jake did his best to hide a growing giggle.

Jake had ended up in this haven for the late night mortal out of pure happenstance. He\'d had the night off from work, and had originally gone to Risk to hunt. There he\'d meet a cute, human boy. The boy\'s name had been Bryant. At first, he\'d found Bryant rather odd, but after humoring him in conversation decided he wasn\'t so bad. Jake had taken Bryant to one of the back rooms, fed from him and then fucked him. It had been a glorious evening for them both.

After the feeding and screwing was done, Jake found the night was still young. Curious what mortals did after two a.m these days, Jake had decided to stick around with Bryant. When asked what young human males did after going out to a club and hooking up, Bryant had brought Jake to The Painted Bean. They\'d sat, and chatted. Bryant had a latte, (on Jake\'s ticket) and Jake had promised Bryant that next time they\'d go to his house. Of course Bryant had no idea that Jake\'s home was The Dante\'s Inferno, a place he\'d already been forcibly brought to.

Eventually it got to late for young Bryant to stay awake and so the human had said his goodbyes and left Jake sitting in the shop. Jake had decided not to leave, because he\'d found observing all the humans present to be so interesting. He listened as they talked about money, fashion, sex, T.V., etc. He found all of it so delightful. When two human females began to discuss the latest episode of Gossip Girl, it took a ton of self control not to join in.

Just when he\'d resolved to go home for the night, Quin had bashed his way into the shop. Jake was sitting in a corner chair, and so he got to view the whole spectacle Quin was making from a safe distance. He liked Quin. He was a devoted person, and was good at his job. Although they\'d never had personal time together, Jake approved greatly of him as an Oligarch. He\'d heard of Quin\'s love of booze, but was only seeing the extent of that love for the first time.

Jake tought about leaving Quin there. He knew that if he was that drunk and someone found him, the next day he\'d be deeply embarrassed. However, as he sat there, Jake decided Quin was to out of sorts to get home safely. Jake felt compelled to assist his coworker and friend. Jake got up from his table and put on his black pea coat. He liked the way it looked with his striped brown button up shirt and jeans. He walked towards Quin, who he now heard couldn\'t find the bar, making sure not to get his Converse shoes dirty in the mess Quin had made coming in. He stopped directly short of his fellow Oligarch.

"Hello Quin," Jake said.

[ooc: I don\'t know what you mean about Jake not getting his Converse shoes dirty on the \'mess Quin made\' coming in.  All he did was bump into a few tables and chairs]

While he was staring out at the coffee shop, a creature Quin recognised stood up, put on a coat, then approached him.  The familiar face only served to confuse him further, for he associated this face with either Risk or work.  Quin hadn\'t been at Risk tonight... had he?  He certainly hadn\'t been to work earlier, it was his night off.  Wasn\'t it?

"Helloooo," he sang in return, wiggling his fingers in greeting at the vampire in front of him.  His concerns about where he was or what he\'d done earlier disappeared once he received a friendly hello.  There was a new question that pressed itself into his addled mind, however, and considering his drunkenness, it was a pretty good observation.  Frowning and peering at Jake, to make sure he was studying his fellow Oligarch with the appropriate intensity, he asked; "What\'s a vampire doing in a coffee shop?"

It was only the persistent smell of coffee that had reminded him he was in one.

OOC: Oh, I took the liberty of suggesting Quin knocked over a half empty latte on his way to the bar. It was more of an excuse to describe the shoes and is easily removable if Quin didn\'t knock over a latte.

Jake did a quick glance to make sure that no humans were really listening to their conversation. Jake was always fearful of breaking the masquerade, and although Quin hadn\'t said his greeting very loud, Jake was careful none the less.

"I was on a date with someone," Jake said in reply. "What brings well... someone like you here?"

Jake refrained from saying Imp. He\'d heard Quin could get rather hot headed.

"Someone... like... me?" Quin repeated slowly.  He thought about what Jake was implying, couldn\'t get it, thought it was funny that he didn\'t understand, and laughed heartily, slapping Jake on the shoulder.  His Irish accent was thick in his drunkenness, and even harder to understand while chortling.

"I wasn\'t on a date, my friend," he said, "and I wouldn\'t bring \'em here!"

He gestured wildly, trying not to hit Jake, and as a result he spun around on his stool once more, but was lucky enough to do a full 360, ending up looking back at Jake.

"That was unexpected," he blinked.  "Where did I put my drink?" he asked, then checked his pockets.

Jake laughed sweetly at his friend. Whether it was Quin\'s intention or not, he was very charming. Jake pulled up the stool next to Quin, and faced the bar.

"It was my date\'s idea to come here," Jake said. "Coffee shops..... aren\'t my thing."

Jake looked Quin over. It seemed the imp was pretty far gone. As Quin checked his pockets for a non existent drink, Jake began to theorize ways to get his fellow oligarch home.

"Do you need anything Quin?" Jake asked. "Maybe a cup of coffee?"

Jake had heard coffee made drunk people not drunk. He had no idea if it worked. If it did, Quin was going to need a LOT!

"Coffee!" Quin repeated with a burst of inspiration.  He remembered that was why he\'d come in here in the first place.  "I was after a pot o\'coffee," he said, nodding, following Jake\'s movements and spinning himself back around to face the counter alongside his companion.  "Coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee," he said to himself, not wanting to forget again.  The barista made her way to them and asked their order.

"A pot o\'coffee," he declared, and received a blank look for his trouble.  "There a problem?" he asked.

"What kind and what size?" the barista asked, her smile faltering.

"Pot.  Coffee.  A pot o\'coffee," Quin said slowly, then looked to Jake for help.  What did she mean what kind and what size?  He thought he\'d been clear.  "As in, not tea," he added helpfully.  The barista also looked at Jake for clarification.

That poor coffee woman.

Jake smiled at Quin. The imp, whether meaning to or not, seemed to be putting this girl through quite the annoying night. With a look of help shot his way from Quin, Jake decided that he\'d better diffuse this situation. The vampire remembered what Bryant had told him about ordering coffee, and used this information to help the poor girl.

"He\'ll have a ugh.... Venti coffee with two shots of expresso."

Jake was proud of himself for blending in so well with humans. Jake thought that he and Quin looked like the kind of people who\'d drink coffee. Jake had very few things that made him long for humanity, but the pleasure of ordering and drinking coffee had just been added to the list.

The barista returned with a very large cup of boiling coffee. Jake found the smell hardy and full of flavor. Of course, if he\'d tried to sip it, it would mean lots of vomiting later. Jake was so not into vomiting.

"Here Quin," Jake suggested. "Drink this."

Quin, who\'d asked for a pot of coffee and received a very large cup due to Jake\'s interpretation, was most pleased with what was in front of him.  The big smile on his face reflected his joy, and the murmurings of pleasure after sipping the very strong coffee also wouldn\'t lead even the most casual observer astray.

"You\'re one of the good bloodsuckers in this dirty ol\' town," Quin praised while lifting his coffee in Jake\'s direction.  He wasn\'t loud, but he wasn\'t keeping his voice down, either.  There was only one volume on Quin when he was drunk (and only rarely two volumes when sober).

He concentrated on getting his coffee to his lips and back for the next few minutes.

Jake gave an uneasy laugh when Quin said "bloodsucker." The barista had been walking by and heard the imp. Jake suddenly got a curious, icy glare. Jake could\'ve persuaded the individual to forget hearing such a comment, but found a much simpler solution.

"I\'m a banker and a millionaire," Jake said to the barista.

This answer explained Quin\'s usage of the word bloodsucker all to well. The barista scoffed, and then went back to his duties behind the bar. Jake listened into his thoughts while Quin drank his coffee.

Guy\'s a millionaire and he can\'t even leave me a tip? I waited on his boyfriend earlier, and now his drunk buddy. Asshole.

Pleased he\'d fooled the human, even if he was now hated, Jake turned to see how Quin was fairing.

"Feeling any better?" Jake asked.

He wanted to get them both out of the shop and back to the hotel. Dawn was in a few hours.

"Room\'s still spinning," Quin chortled, obviously not upset by such a thing.  The spin was slow and not nauseating, for the imp had lots of practise handling his liquor.  "When did you start working in a bank?" he asked after a long and thoughtful moment.

The lie to the barista had been heard by Quin, who\'d taken many minutes to process this information and figure it as a truthful thing.  He figured that Jake really was a millionaire, for most of the bloodsuckers were if they\'d been around for a while, but the bank thing had been a surprise.

He took a long sip of coffee and watched the vampire Oligarch over the rim of the cup.

"Well I don\'t exactly work in a bank," Jake corrected.

Quin was not ready to travel. Jake didn\'t mind this at all. He and Quin never really got the chance to talk. Even if Quin was drunk, Jake knew he\'d appreciate the company.

"I own a considerable amount of property that I charge a lot of rent for," Jake explained. "The rest of my money is in the stock market."
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Trillian on July 05, 2011, 11:58:44 AM
Not a bank, but in stocks.  "So, you\'re a broker, then.  Broker and developer," Quin guessed, because Jake had commented on property as well.  Why would he say he worked at a bank?

"Oh!  You were making a funny!  A blood bank, then?  That would be funny, ayuh.  A vampire in a blood bank.  Perfect stuff."  Quin frowned to himself and spilled a little of his coffee while he gestured to his coworker.  "Does Kerr know you\'re moonlighting?"
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Black Philip on July 08, 2011, 09:44:18 AM
Jake nodded his head as Quin called him a broker and developer. It was a more accurate description, and Jake prided Quin on his intelligence while drunk. Jake saw that the barista was busy, and quickly scanned to make sure mortals weren\'t paying attention. Jake laughed when Quin said "blood bank." For Jake, such a statement had a double meaning. The bank, a place which holds blood money of one sort or another, and a real human blood bank. Whether Quin meant it as a high brow pun Jake didn\'t know, but he\'d most certainly taken it that way.

In truth, Jake didn\'t know if Kerr knew about his other dealings. He\'d never hid them, but they\'d never had a discussion about them either. Jake just assumed the other Oligarchs all had something on the side. It just seemed natural to him.

"To be honest Quin I have no idea," Jake answered. "I assume if it were a problem I would have been yelled at by now."
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Trillian on July 08, 2011, 11:39:08 AM
Quin found the explanation of Jake\'s knowing if he\'d done by measure of yelling to be deliciously funny.  He sprayed coffee on the counter top and also down his shirt, unable to hold the liquid in his mouth through his laughter.  A few people around him protested and threw the pair of them dirty looks.  Quin was oblivious to them, holding his stomach and sides with his arms (after setting the large coffee cup down with a thump on the spat-upon counter), as though they would split due to his hysterics.

"Hoo hoo hoo haa!" he hooted, "I thought I was the only one who discovered the rules by breaking them!"  He gave Jake a hearty slap on the back, once he\'d regained a little control, and almost fell off his stool doing so.  Almost, but he caught himself.  "I like you, Mister Jake.  Very much."  He caught some of the foul looks cast his way by the people around him and challenged them with a baleful stare.  "Got a problem?"
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Black Philip on July 08, 2011, 12:04:27 PM
Jake was horrified. Quin had just sprayed the countertop with coffee that had been in his mouth. Lucky for Quin, none of it had gotten on Jake or his clothes. Such a thing could have made an enemy. Quin might not have seen the stares and looks, but Jake certainly did. He turned and counted pairs of eyes, all focussed on him and Quin. One onlooker in particular seemed offended by Quin\'s display. He was a stout man, balding in the back, with thick muscles all over his short body. Jake thought he looked very much like a ballon animal that needed to be popped. He had tattoos on his arms and neck, and small, dark eyes that looked like coals. Jake instantly disliked him.

This was the man who Quin had spoken too. The man, who in Jake\'s opnion had no business in a coffee shop (then again who was he to talk) got off of his own stool and walked dangerously close to Quin.

"Yeah I got a problem," the brute uttered in a nasty dialect. "That shit was gross. Apologize and clean it up."

Jake decided now was not the time to intervene. He looked to see what Quin would do, being challenged so.
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Trillian on July 08, 2011, 12:51:19 PM
Quin didn\'t see any danger in the brute\'s threat, for he was still in high spirits.

"I accept your apology," he said magnanimously, for hadn\'t the other agreed that he did have a problem and was now apologising for it?  "Do you carry around hankies?" he asked, surprised that the fellow was offering to clean the mess up, but he had just apologised after all.

It really didn\'t matter how stocky or muscular a human being was, no matter how happy or fiery Quin was, there would be no way he\'d be intimidated by one.  He was an Imp, a supernatural being, and one of Dark magic to boot.
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Black Philip on July 08, 2011, 01:22:02 PM
Jake bowed his head. This was NOT going well. Jake wasn\'t afraid for Quin, oh no. Jake was terrified for the loud mouthed human. The dog was fuming as Quin suggested he clean up the mess. The veins in his thick, fat neck were about to burst. His face was a dark red, almost maroon.

"Are you some kind of smart ass?" the angry human barked. "Dumb Fag."

What would happen next was anybody\'s guess.
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Trillian on July 09, 2011, 02:27:52 PM
The \'dumb fag\' comment was enough to turn the entire coffee shop against him.  Quin had been readying his magic once he\'d gleaned the hostile nature of the moron who\'d challenged him, but could see it no longer mattered so let his Blindness spell melt away while other customers pelted the offensive grunt with whatever they had on hand; empty polystyrene cups (and some half-full ones), half-eaten scones or crumpled napkins, cutlery and - in the case of one fellow - a cell phone, which hit the bully smartly on the head.

"Ow! What the fuck?" he asked, covering his face and peering around his arms and hands every now and then to see what was going on.  He received a round of boos and hisses for his trouble and finally left the coffee shop, getting cheers and applause once he was out the door.  People went back to their coffee and Quin grinned at Jake.

"Just goes to show you can\'t say \'fag\' in this city," he said, then raised his cup in toast to every single person within the shop, though they were no longer paying him attention.
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Black Philip on July 09, 2011, 02:36:56 PM
Jake\'s presence ability was activated by use of the word \'fag.\'

What an ugly, offensive word, Jake thought.

Suddenly, Jake\'s aura filled the room and helped to edge on the already upset patrons. There natural distaste for such a word was only strengthened by angry vampire energy leaking around the shop. Insults turned into acts of violence as people hurled there cups at the offish brute. Jake refrained from making comment, for if he did he feared his fangs might show, and that was something that the people of The Painted Bean didn\'t need to see. When the man was finally gone, Jake clapped loudly to show his appreciation.

Jake returned Quin\'s toast with a fist pump, and nodded his head in agreement.

"You know some humans shouldn\'t be allowed to breed," Jake said in high spirits.

"You sound like Lazarus," Quin pointed out with a laugh, for the blonde Ancient - when in Luminary position - had made many a caustic remark about the idiocy of the human race.  Mind, he\'d also made many a caustic remark about the idiocy of other vampires.

Quin had forgotten that Jake had been made Oligarch after Lazarus had been turfed out.  He hadn\'t been Oligarch at the time either, simply stepping into the role while another Oligarch for Fae was being placed.  He\'d quite liked the fact Kerr had offered the position to him - he\'d been acting as one for a number of months anyway.

"I\'ve heard rumour he\'s back, you know," he said, for the rumour had circulated around the same time as Brianna\'s firing last night.  Now that had been an interesting piece of gossip today, when Quin had started work.  It certainly wasn\'t a slow town.
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Black Philip on July 10, 2011, 12:11:43 AM
Jake\'s hair almost stood on end. Lazarus was back! Years ago Jake had succeeded in monumentally pissing off the oldest vampire he\'d ever met, except for his Sire Sophie, who\'d been as old as dirt. If not for Kerr, Jake most likely would have killed or at the very least raped and beaten. Lazarus had a reputation for such things. In the end, Jake had not only escaped Lazarus\'s wrath, but he\'d ended up as an Oligarch, and all because he helped save the city from invasion.

"I didn\'t know he\'d come back," Jake said. "I feel like as vampire oligarch someone should have told me."

Vomas. Jake wondered if Vomas knew. Did Kerr know? Jake\'s mind began to rase as he sat there. Why couldn\'t someone have tipped him off, that the city\'s most dangerous villain had come back? Quin was now not the only person who was a bit dizzy.

"I have a suspicion we\'ll get notified tonight," Quin declared, his finger moving upward to tap the side of his nose, except he missed each time and eventually had to give up.  He turned his head and spied his coffee.  "Oooh, coffee," he said, re-discovering that he had one, and wrapped his hands around it to glean its warmth.  The coffee was halfway drunk, now.  "I only found out earlier today, while you were sleeping... or recharging... or whatever it is your kind do in the daylight."

Well that was a load off. If Quin had only found out today then Jake would probably find out tonight when he checked his email. Quin had proved to be a good companion tonight. He looked at the coffee guzzling imp with fondness.

"Thanks for telling me Quin," Jake said. "Oh by the way, we sleep. We\'re not The Borg."

Jake wondered if imps knew about Startrek.
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy

Imps who were interested in science fiction would likely know everything there was to know about Star Trek and the assimilating Borg, but Quin wasn\'t one of them.

"Borg?" he asked, not recognising the word.  "Are they Fae?"

He\'d looked at the booklet of species that he represented as Oligarch for Fae, and after going through the list three pages long, and not understanding what most of them even were, he\'d put it by the wayside.  Borg could\'ve been one of them.

"I bet they\'re some kind of tree fairy.  Those tree fairies call themselves all sorts of weird names," he said, nodding at Jake, wanting him to agree about the peculiarity of tree fairy names.

At first, Jake planned to explain to Quin what the Borg were. His natural tendency to correct people, and otherwise always be right, came to the front of his lips. But as he looked at the chipper Quin, he decided the explanation not worth the effort. After all, in Quin\'s current state, he thought himself fortunate that Quin was talking at all.

"Yeah, that\'s it," Jake lied badly. He turned his stool to not directly face Quin.

Jake looked around. It was getting late, and the sun would be up in just a few short hours. Jake looked to Quin and decided he\'d better move this along.

"Shouldn\'t we be going Quin?" Jake suggested.

Quin was still sipping from his giant pot of coffee, pleased that he\'d correctly identified one of the species he was Oligarch over.  There were too many to get a handle on while sober, so hitting the right mark when drunk pleased him no end.

He turned to give Jake a long, hard stare, trying to figure out the reason behind the rush.  Even though it should\'ve been obvious, seeing as Jake was a night creature and the night was drawing to a close, Quin couldn\'t make the connection in his inebriated state.

"Going?" he repeated, "Are we late?"

Was there a meeting he didn\'t know about?

Jake latched onto the train of thought, and decided to go with it.

"Yes Quinn, we\'re very late. Kerr want\'s to see us at the Oligarchy as soon as we can be there," Jake lied.

If it got Quinn indoors and into a bed, Jake was okay lying to his friend. Seeing as how Quinn would probably not remember the night, Jake\'s guilt was minimal. Also, if Quinn did remember, he hoped the fae wouldn\'t be upset by the fib. Jake flashed a big grin and waited for Quinn to finish his coffee.

[ooc: Be careful when reading Quin\'s mind, he\'s Fae not Human and shouldn\'t be so easy - FYI for next time *wink*]

"Ooh, we\'d better be off then!" he exclaimed, downing his coffee in a few quick gulps and performing a graceful fall off his stool and somehow retaining his balance (even though it had taken a few pinwheels of his arms to do so).  "Just as well we bumped into each other," he said, slapping Jake on the back.  "I would\'ve missed it, that I would."  He was thoughtful for a moment, waiting for Jake to step out of the coffee shop with him.  "What do you suppose the Grand Poobah\'s got planned then?"
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy

Jake hid a smirk as Quinn tried desperately to hold on his balance. Tonight had shown Jake what an interesting and smart creature Quinn was, and the vampire was glad he\'d run into him. Jake placed a twenty on the counter. He couldn\'t remember if Quinn had payed or not. Even if he had, Jake decided the Barista needed the tip.

Jake found Quinn waiting at the door to the shop. The "Grand Poobah" was not a way Jake usually refereed to Kerr. As a result it took him a while to answer.

"I\'d guess it\'s the whole Lazarus thing," Jake said. Jake took a step outside the shop and waited for Quinn to follow.

Lazarus.  Quin didn\'t mind the blonde vampire, though he\'d annoyed the previous Fae Oligarch so much that Quin himself had inherited the position when the other left the city.  Lazarus had indirectly promoted Quin, though it had been Kerr to make it all official.  It was nice to have the proper tattoo, and all.

"Been a while since he\'s made an appearance, aye," Quin commented, making small talk as they worked their way through the coffee shop and then stepped outside.  The city\'s lights were still bright and twinkling, lighting their way, while the sky remained very dark.  "Why\'s the Luminary got a meeting so late?" he asked after a short while, thinking that he\'d had the time to go to a bar earlier, which was unusual.  Kerr\'s meetings usually started early in the night - leaving the rest of the night for pleasure, Quin supposed.
Title: Re: You\'re Making Me Dizzy
Post by: Black Philip on September 21, 2011, 02:45:27 PM
This was true. Kerr did love the early meeting. Jake was finding himself surprised how organized Quinn\'s brain was. First, he was Fae, and Jake had never met a single one who wasn\'t mischievous and slightly disorganized. There was also the fact that Quinn was still very drunk. Jake decided honesty was needed here. Quinn was an Oligarch, and Jake didn\'t want to start speaking for Kerr.

"Alright don\'t hurt me," Jake said," but I was blowing smoke up your ass. There\'s no meeting. I\'m just concerned about getting you home. I lied, but know that your asking for details, I don\'t feel like telling a web of lies."

After all one lie was one thing. Many lies were many things. Jake preferred not to get too deep in that kind of shit hole.

"Blowing smoke..." Quin said very slowly, "up my ass?" he questioned, never hearing that phrase before.  There were many common phrases he\'d never heard, plus a few uncommon ones that he thought popular and used often only to meet quizzical looks from others.  "Blowing smoke..." he said again, and then received an unbidden image of Jake on his knees with a cigarette in hand, blowing smoke up Quin\'s own tail.  It was such a delicious idea that he cackled insanely and patted Jake\'s arm, half for commendation and the other half to help keep himself up.  "Ah, that\'s quite alright," he said in between giggles, "all is forgiven."

He was in a good mood.  It would take more than a little lie about a meeting to upset him.  Now they wouldn\'t have to go to the meeting after all!  That meant the rest of the night was still available for partying.

Jake was happy Quinn wasn\'t the vindictive type. Maybe it was his simple Fae nature not to hate? Then again, Jake was on rocky terms with a nightmare named Eva Knox. She\'d shown how angry and upset Fae can be when passionate. Jake decided that it was just Quin\'s nature, and he liked it.

"You know Quinn, other than Kerr, you\'re the only member of the Oligarchy I really like," Jake pointed out. "I don\'t dislike anyone else, just with all of them it\'s business."

Jake checked his watch. It wasn\'t so late, and as long as they went to a place where he could go to ground, they didn\'t have to go right back home. If they did, Jake would just have to go back to work, and the "fun" he was having would end.

Finding himself in a good mood, Jake made a suggestion. "Would you like to see a tough vampire bar, that serves cheap whiskey?"

He could\'ve asked Jake, why a tough vampire bar (or any vampire bar) would serve cheap whiskey.  Cheap blood, that made sense, but whiskey?  He could\'ve asked why Jake had pulled him out of the coffee shop in order to get him home, just to invite him to a bar.  He could\'ve asked who Jake liked the least in the Oligarchy, because he loved a piece of gossip.  He didn\'t, however, ask any of these things, because his focus had been captured immediately by the words \'cheap whiskey\'.

"I\'ll go wherever you want to take me, s\'long as there\'s cheap whiskey involved."

He didn\'t even care if it was particularly nasty whiskey, because it was all about continuing these nice warm feelings.  The effects of alcohol was starting to ebb away as the coffee began to do its job, so it made sense that he would need a second round to revisit his drunken state.

Jake smiled. He needed to go to the White Rabbit anyways. Lisa-Joe owed him money. Now, he had a reason to stay and hang out, be served good blood and enjoy Quinn\'s eccentric, yet likable, behavior.

"Sound\'s great," Jake said. "Let\'s call that car service we all have as Oligarchs. I never use it. Unless you want to take the subway?"

"Which car d\'ye want to use?  Mine or yours?  I have quite a good lookin\' driver, mind he doesn\'t like being touched overly," Quin said, first grinning but ending with a frown, remembering last time that his hands had been slapped away when he\'d attempted to discover if his driver\'s bottom felt as nicely rounded as it looked.

Jake laughed. He felt sorry for the poor person who\'s job it was to escort Quinn around. Then again, Jake was sure Kerr would have assigned someone with iron skin to be the personal chauffeur to the Oligarch for Fae. Anything else would spell disaster.

"Sounds great," Jake said.
