Malak Isra Shula\'ismat
« on: February 19, 2008, 05:04:10 AM »
Full Name and Title:
Lady Malak Isra Shula\'ismat

Age: 23.

Birthday: 12, May.

Occupation: Is not required to work. Occasionally helps her father with records, and papers. Spends most of her time with her father, attending to guests, or out on her own meeting people.

Religion: Talon - God of Death (converted from her former religion, along with most of family, after the exile)

Hair: Waist length, black hair usually braided. Well kept, Malak has a servant whose sole purpose is the care of her hair and "make-up." Malak endures it all as a test of her patience and meditation, as it was her father\'s decision that she should always be attended to be servants.

Eyes: Almond-shaped, rich brown eyes. Malak usually has a pale green or blue ink on her eyelids and around the eye.

Nose: Small nose with a slightly raised bridge. Rather than giving her a sneering, or broken-nose look, it gives her a delicate, timid look. That\'s likely because of the light pattering of freckles she has across the bridge of her nose.

Lips: Small, but full. Usually painted with a pale blue or green, depending on what other inks adorn her skin and fingernails.

Skin Color: Fair skin, nearly a milky white.

Height: 5\'2"

Weight: A little under a hundred pounds, Malak is fair-formed, but very slender and light.

Physical Attractiveness: By most standards Malak is beautiful. With a quiet, but intelligent persona she attracts what attention her looks fail to capture, and typically when she does capture someone\'s attention, she\'s never forgotten. She has little professed interest in any intimate matters. She was to be married, as arranged by her father, but her soon-to-be husband was among those that helped convict Shihab and carry out the exile. Her father is trying to find new suitors.

Clothing: Malak typically wears a dark green, or dark blue dress, with wide sleeves and a high collar. She wears hardened cloth shoes with wooden soles, either blue or green, to match the dress. She also occasionally wears a black veil.

Mother: Zinat, a simple woman from one of the harems Shihab commonly frequiented. When he was exiled, he brought her with him. Zinat is a quiet woman who keeps to herself, only speaking when spoken to. Shihab constantly tries to get her to open up and embrace a life of freedom, but Zinat is too set in her ways. She had little to do with Malak\'s upbringing. Nursing her early on and appointing Malak her servants was pretty much all Zinat did for her. The two rarely speak to each other. Malak was born shortly before the exile, and was claimed by Shihab when he took Zinat. Zinat is Malak\'s true mother, Shihab is the assumed father, but given Zinat\'s work, there are other possibilities.

Father: "Count" Shihab Abd al-Shula. Was a Turkish general. When he was exiled, for reasons he refuses to tell, he found himself in a small village. Shihab used his experience as a general to rally men and take control of the village, claiming lands around it and bringing the independant region under the power of a nearby nation. The "gift" of his conquest earned him the title of the lands (exactly how he had planned it), and he\'s been serving as a "count" since. This recent trip to Oberon is in the hopes of earning foreign respect and improving diplomatic relations, which would improve his own standing in his new home.

Siblings: Malak has a few younger brothers (assuming Shihab is her father), but no sisters. Her brothers are, Ilhami (the youngest, 15, Shihab\'s favorite), Altan (17), and Khalifa (the oldest, about 20). Malak did have an older brother, Rasul (brother from Zinat, Shihab was not Rasul\'s father, that\'s certain), but he was killed when Shihab was first captured for trial. Rasul was to be married (to Elmas), Elmas has had two children since, Dilara and Coskun. Elmas is pretty much Malak\'s sister now, and the two are usually together when not out at parties.

Childhood: Malak\'s upbringing was strict, and secluded. She never set foot outdoors until she was thirteen, when a fire threatened to overtake their home. Most of her childhood was spent in study, or practicing various things. She was rarely punished, she learned early that her life would be as simple as serve willingly or serve another purpose. Her father constantly told her stories of the harem\'s he had visited, adding as much detail as he could to both teach her the darker side of mankind, and to discourage disobedience.

Education: Has been tutoried by a series of teachers. Most of her studies were in medicine, economics, history, and diplomacy. After the fire, she was also taught to read in several languages and write in each of them, and to do the basic things required in a household (sewing, cooking, etc)

Natural Talents: Malak has spent more of her life as a noble than as a general\'s daughter, so she\'s developed a natural sense for political scheming and self preservation. She still has a natural talent for tactics, having picked up quickly on those lessons (both involve manipulating or directing people)

Hobbies: Malak spends a lot of time hosting parties, whether planning parties for Shihab\'s guests, or her own to meet the politicians and other interesting pawns of Oberon. When she isn\'t meddling in affairs and intreague, she\'s taking long walks, or playing the tambura.

Personality: Despite the fact that she knows how to, and does manipulate people, Malak isn\'t a terrible, pig-headed monstrosity of a lady. She\'s kind and considerate, using her talents of manipulation only to sway the egos of such bloated people for useful, worthwhile things. She wasn\'t just raised as a noble, she was raised under her father\'s wing, watching him transform an entire valley and decrepit village into a prospering city. She does have her moments where what she thinks is good might be seen as something, else, but it\'s likely because of her very practical take on life. Most people get caught up in wealth, glory and other riches. Malak simply wants to live a full life, so she plans ahead instead of by the moment. To her it\'s all about investments and doing things right the first time, even if it is costly.
