History:
In 1588, King Philip II of Spain sent an Armada to invade England and they were throughly crushed. After their defeat, they began their journey home. They were sent off course by brutal storms and some estimated 20 ships wrecked off the coast of Ireland. None that survived were believed to have stayed in Ireland as England had promised harsh action against those that aided any of the Spanish invaders.
A particularly strong swimmer
did make it ashore, and in true Tristin and Isolde fashion, was taken in by a very full-bosomed lady. She all but immediately fell in love with the dark and bedraggled stranger and promised to keep him safe until the search for the Armada survivors came to an end. Even though he had no idea what she was saying, Francisco quickly realized she didn't mean him any harm the way she held his head to her chest while cooing to him.
After only a few weeks, a patrol unit became suspicious of all the creaking, sighing and moaning coming from a once abandoned cottage. Francisco was hauled away, half-clothed, and taken to the nearby keep. When presented to the local Irish lord, everyone (including Francisco) expected an execution, but he was instead kept as an armed retainer. This was fortunate for his lover Abiageal as she was soon discovered to be with child. Their first-born, named Senan (later known as Vomas), was followed two years later by Halwyn.
Halwyn's life was uneventful except for the mockery he received for being half Spaniard. As soon he became big enough to defend himself, he did. However, being large enough to punch someone for calling him a name also meant he was big enough to work as a servant along with the rest of his family. Another decade passed uneventfully in servitude until his brother disappeared a few years after working for a lady who had specifically requested his service. Once Halwyn tracked his brother down, he was not only surprised by Senan's pallor, but by the strength he used to force him against a wall. Before he could fully comprehend what was happening, he was being fed from.
Mere heartbeats later, the pain ended and he was being held by a woman who offered him eternity. She became his sire, because as he saw it... If his brother was going to live forever, he wanted to be there too.
Beyond that, things are a bit of a blur.
Awareness of Supernaturals: He's aware of everything that chose to expose themselves prior to the Oligarchy taking back the city, though couldn't place a name to half if he had to.
