The Two Liner RP

[Harlequin]

Despite her youth, Sachi had always preferred a good red wine over mixed drinks, but he was paying and she wasn\'t about to look that gift horse in the mouth, "Sounds great!" she chirped.

"Malibu Dream," she mused, "That sounds like something Barbie would drink."

[Trillian]

"Is she a friend of yours?" he inquired politely.  He wondered if this \'Barbie\' was the friend who was supposed to be have her makeup done by the Dryad.

[Harlequin]

At first, Sachi thought he was referring to the waitress, who had since vanished into the ether, and looked slightly confused. Then, she got it, and smiled again "Oh! No, she\'s, uh, she\'s a doll; like a toy for little girls."

[Trillian]

He blinked at her and wondered why she would refer to a doll.  He had heard of a Barbie Doll, for it had been around a long time, but he hadn\'t realised the thing had social context.

[Harlequin]

And now Sachi just felt stupid; and  "I mean, y\'know, when I was a kid it was all about Malibu Barbie," she went on, "It was a thing. Why are you out tonight?" She hastened to change the subject.

[Trillian]

He continued to stare at her as she continued about the doll, pleased that she decided to change the subject.

"I like this place; it makes everything civilised," he said with a smile.

[Harlequin]

"Civilized?" she asked, had quirked to one side. Just then, however the waitress returned with her drink, which Sachi accepted with a cry of, "Oooh, yes please!"

[Trillian]

"No more lurking in the shadows of dirty alleyways?" he replied, his tone making his statement sound like a question, though it was not, other than; \'get it?\'

[Harlequin]

"Oooh," she said, "Yeah, I can see where that would get, uh, unsavory." She took an experimental sip of her drink, "Oh, hey, I like this! Thanks!"

[Trillian]

He smiled at her childish manner before nodding at her appreciation of the drink he\'d ordered for her.  "You\'re welcome."

[Harlequin]

She smiled right back at him; a sunny, bright expression matching her demeanor. "So where are you from, Caleb?"

[Trillian]

"Before coming to New York or originally?" he prompted.  "I was in Italy for a few years."

[Harlequin]

"Originally," she said, then, midsip, her eyes grew wide. After swallowing, she gushed, "Oh, I\'d love to go to Italy."

[Trillian]

He\'d heard people say such things before.  "Nothing\'s stopping you."

[Harlequin]

She scrunched up her nose. "Money," she said simply.
