Inconveniences
« on: January 18, 2011, 12:14:33 PM »
"What the fuck do you mean you don\'t know when it opens back up?" He slammed his fist down on the table, upsetting the ashtray near his hands, and shocking the humans at the table with his speed.

"Dox, I don\'t fuckin\' know, ok?" "Good for nothing," Nikolai fumed silently to his partner as the human defended himself against the disconcerted dealer. "All Bentley said was that they closed up shop and the fucking refurbishment would take a while. Christ."

"And was there any reason you couldn\'t go find out more about this? Like how long they were thinking about keeping the one fucking place we dominate in sales closed for fucking renovation!?"

"If I had a line for every time he said ‘fuck’ when he\'s in a pissy mood," Cole, a moron of a human some feet away from him at the table nearby murmured under his breath to a large, square looking human known to the Disciples as Jockey. In return the taller human just laughed dully.

But Nikolai was in no mood to be fucked around with. Judas had woken him early from his slumber, before the sun had even set that day after he had bedded that beautiful cunt Sonya for a second time. To his aggravation, there was the news that Risk closed its doors that very night. So while he was getting his dick wet, the main distribution center, the center of business for all of the Eastwood Disciples within the city had shut its doors indefinitely. And now, he found that none of these so-called businessmen were taking this happening very seriously.

The vampire drew on his cigarette, feeling the satisfying heat of the smoke and the taste of the tobacco without much satisfaction at all and picked up the ashtray, proceeding to throw it with all of his speed at the mortal who had just insulted him. The glass dish whizzed between Cole and Jockey\'s heads and smashed on the floor some distance away. The blood drained from both humans\' faces and on the look that he received from the bar tender and half of the bar, Nikolai simply flipped him the bird and turned back to his own table.

"I can fucking hear you, you imbeciles!" He was Thirsty and aggravated and the night had only just begun. Had he been human, he would have taken out some blow and snorted the longest line he had ever had -- and then some, he thought irately. The inconvenience of being immortal.

“Dox, we still have here, though,” Vincent chipped in finally, remaining silent since Nikolai had arrived at the table. He was boring-looking for a vampire, a fantastic mortal impersonator. A mess of auburn hair which he styled over his eyes, mousey eyes and a huge mouth, he was the only other immortal within the known ranks of the Disciples and he was nothing but a lackey of Doxy’s, one to be pushed around at will. And Nikolai enjoyed doing just that. “I mean, it’s not Risk, but it’s something in the meantime.”

“You’re right,” Nikolai said, finding very little comfort in his words. Of course they had Stakes and Sticks. And the streets. But the point of the matter was that Risk was ideal, better than anywhere else in the city. “If only fucking Jeremy would do his fucking job, maybe we would have fucking known that this was going to fucking happen!” Nikolai found himself yearning for another glass ashtray to throw at the human.

“Oh fuck off, you fucking faggot! You should have known more about it than me. You’re just too concerned with getting your fucking cock inside anything that moves!” Jeremy spat at the vampire, a move that he grown too accustomed of doing.

“Look, you little shit,” Nikolai growled at the human, his jaw trembling with a  ferocious thirst building in his throat, “if you want my fucking job, you’re gonna have to give some great fucking head because I’m the only one in this fucking room that has any idea about just what the fuck happens in this city and I’m not giving my position to some little fuck who hasn’t come out of his daddy’s closet yet!”

Stunned by the ever-prevailing quickness of his tongue and the humor of the idea of challenging Doxy in a battle of words, the rest of the Disciples held back a snicker as Jeremy’s face turned bright red and Nikolai leaned back into the seat cushion of the booth. Never amused, the vampire took a deep drag again and blew the smoke in the human’s face, something even he considered completely uncalled for. Never one to let something like that die, Jeremy lunged at the immortal, only to meet the restraining hand of Vincent who, though only sixty years old, restrained the mortal easily enough.

“Get him the fuck out of here,” Nikolai told the other immortal with a wave of his hand. His nerves were fried and the clacking of the pool balls nearby were forming in him violent images of himself smashing in the skulls of every person in the club with the eight and cue balls. Judas gave him an approving smile and pushed the thought farther until blood had soaked the floor of his mind and his Thirst had been sedated and his dick was hard. Nikolai put his head down on the table, his fingers woven into his jet black and bleach blonde hair.

He never should have relied on Jeremy to do his work, he knew that. The human was an ambitious idiot at best, with no concept of what to do with power or responsibility to those beneath him. He wanted drugs and easy fucks without the hassle of maintaining empire. This was exactly the reason that the Disciples had kept Doxy around for so long: he knew what the fuck he was doing from the bottom of the ladder, up. Now Nikolai had to get an estimate of just how long Risk was going to be closed for and report back to those fucks that never respected his abilities to find out any kind of information in the city.

The dealer sighed deeply, a low hissing sound rising from his chest. Bashing in the skulls of everyone in the building and setting the place alight still sounded like a good idea on a night like tonight. “I’m in the mood to rip open some skulls tonight, my friend,” Nikolai breathed to the demon in his head. “I’ll take you up on that offer if nothing good happens within the next two hours.” In turn, his silent partner growled with pleasure, hoping that two hours would pass by quickly.

"Only if we start with Vincent."

"Deal."

Risk was closed for business. Lisa-Joe walked into Sticks and Stakes with a grin that could only be described as sinister plastered across her face. Her hair was half up half down this evening, and her eye makeup was simple, yet fearsome. She was celebrating. With Risk currently out of commission and Club Zero a thing of the past, The White Rabbit was slowly becoming a metropolis for Kine and Kindred alike. Lisa-Joe was making so much extra cash she\'d put in for an apartment in Jake McCloud\'s building the Dante\'s Inferno.

Money was something Lisa-Joe loved, and although her rebellious nature often cost her diamonds, she always managed to find new ones to fill her glittering crown. A pair of tight jeans and a Rolling Stones shirt were tonights chosen garb, and several black and silver bracelets adorned her skinny yet feminine wrists. Dangly earrings were the only indication that Lisa-Joe wasn\'t stoner, rebel trash. That was the way the Brujah preferred it. She liked being just one step above the common people. With the White Rabbit under the command of her fierce bouncer Nicky, the owner had decided a night away from her baby was probably best for her health and color.

Feeding had been done, chaos had been caused, and now Lisa-Joe wanted to play a simple game of pool. She sharpened her stick and was about to begin playing a tough looking biker, when an ashtray whizzed past her ear. She almost decided to catch it. However, she realized that she was not the intended target, and refrained from direct action. The causer of the commotion was a vampire, and from what Lisa-Joe could detect, he was just under a century old. His raw anger was absolutely visible, as was his total annoyance.

She watched the remainder of the interchange, yet chose not to listen in on the vampire\'s private conversation. Still he was interesting, and tonight interesting was good. Lisa-Joe gave up the game of pool to a younger vampire whom the mistress knew as a White Rabbit regular.

"Thanks Miss Hampton," the girl said loudly. "I\'m going to the Rabbit tomorrow, when that really good band with the hot singer preforms.

Lisa-Joe gritted her teeth. Fucking Jerry, she thought.

"I\'ll see you there darling," Lisa-Joe said sweetly. With that she gave the female vampire, who\'s name she didn\'t know, a kiss on the forehead. Lisa-Joe then adopted a cigarette only to find she didn\'t have a light. The young vampire sat, brooding, he was surrounded by what looked like a band of loyal followers . Lisa-Joe decided to kill two birds with one stone, and approached the man confidently, but politely. Staying an appropriate distance away, Lisa-Joe showed her unlit sin stick.

"You got a light," Lisa-Joe queered. Her tone was friendly, yet causal. Let him decide if this was worth exploring.

"You got a light?"

Nikolai looked up from his position at the table to see a woman staring him and the Disciples in the face. Brazen bitch, Judas mumbled to the other to which Nikolai silently agreed. This bitch was had a set, even if she was older than him by more than four hundred years. Judas hissed a warning in his ear before settling back down on the perch in his mind. She was strong, he could feel, but paid no attention to. Tonight, he just really didn\'t fucking care. He took a drag off the cigarette still between his fingers, rapidly burning down to the filter before he responded to her.

She wasn\'t exactly dressed to impress, but there was something attractive about her. Maybe it was the weight of her age. Maybe it was her classy casual wear in a grunge bar. He was attracted to her, despite his temper and despite her interruption to his thoughts.

"I\'m sorry, can we help you?" It was a retort meant to challenge her ability to stand her ground, his voice thick with poison. He took another deep drag off his cigarette before stubbing out a smoking filter on the table. Nikolai wasn\'t exactly expecting any bitch just to walk up to a table of known dealers, and rough looking men without expecting something from them. Even if she didn\'t smell like the adrenaline of lust, he had been wrong in the past. He was hoping, for her sake, that that wasn\'t what she was truly after. Anyone immortal who even looked at him could tell that he was in no mood for needless interruptions. After all, even some women had to have common fucking sense.

Hmm, rude, Lisa-Joe thought. Good!

She shifted her weight slightly before again asking her question with a slightly more aggressive tone.

"I asked if you have a light," she said. She indicated the unlit cigarette, a mild look of annoyance stretched across her face. She turned to see the other people at the table and deemed all of them uninteresting except for the one with whom she was addressing.

"And we can\'t help me," Lisa-Joe mocked, "but you probably can."

She didn\'t mean it sexually. She simply meant that the others at the table weren\'t even worth talking to. It wasn\'t her fault that it came out like a porno girl come on.

He scoffed. "Jockey." Doxy said without dropping the woman\'s gaze. The human closest to her pulled out a lighter and lit the cigarette for her.

"Now, is there something further I can help you with?" It took every bit of gentlemanly nature in him not to fuck up the wording and tell the bitch to fuck off instead. His tone, though low and defensive, was bitter and rude, as if he were trying to dismiss her one way or another from a private affair. "Because if not, I\'ll kindly ask you to leave."

"Thanks," Lisa-Joe said to the person who\'d lit her cigarette. She didn\'t waste time looking at him. Lisa-Joe had been dealing with a rough crowd her whole life. Being a Brujah opened you up to that kind of people, and considering her true past in England....

The bar owner had only seconds to ponder her options. She didn\'t want to stand there looking like an idiot, nor did she want her conversation with the rude vampire to end. She looked around at the trash he was associating with, and decided that in order for this to go anywhere the rats would have to scurry away.

"There is something else," Lisa-Joe said. "But I smell common people, and it\'s making me sick. Get rid of your men, and then you and I can discuss more important things."

Now of course she had to figure out a legit reason to talk to this guy. If he didn\'t get rid of his men, she\'d just laugh at him and walk away, pretending to hold a dark secret that he wouldn\'t get to hear. If he did send away his friends, Lisa-Joe would have to say something pretty interesting to accommodate her demand.

He stared at her for a good long moment, unaware of any awkwardness that may have passed over the group of mortals who were looking to there leader for a response. His silent conversation with his partner was relatively quick.

I\'m going to kill her.
She\'s older than us.
I\'m not in the fucking mood for this.
See what she wants.
I don\'t fucking care what she wants. I\'m fucking busy.
See what she wants, Nikolai.

But Nikolai disobeyed. "That all depends on what you have to say and what it pertains to." There was a snare in his ear and a tightening of his throat as if an invisible hand were getting comfortable there. The eyes of the mortals volleyed back to the woman, all of which couldn\'t recognize another immortal. The vampire threw a fast look over at Vincent, who immediately caught Nikolai\'s gaze and turned it back to the woman.

Why the fuck would he send the Disciples away? Not until he got an idea about just what the fuck this bitch was going to tell him would he determine whether or not sending his lackeys away was worth his time.

Well Lisa-Joe hadn\'t been expecting this. Now her pride was at stake. In truth she didn\'t have anything meaningful to discuss with the vampire who was being so difficult. Thinking on her feet, she played the one card that always gained her favor, and if this didn\'t work she could always break his wrist. Yes, she liked that idea very much.

"I don\'t owe you any explanation until the trash is gone, but if your not looking to make any money, or do some good business with a business kind of lady, I\'ll just go shoot pool with the common folks."

She increased her southern drawl as she spoke and after speaking began to turn away. If he didn\'t grant her audience, he\'d look like a fool in front of his little friends. No matter who the fuck this guy was, anybody was down to make a little extra cash. Lisa-Joe\'s mind began to spin with possibilities of what she could use this man for.

Business, huh? He cocked an eyebrow at the woman as she spoke. He didn\'t believe her, there was something a bit odd about the situation. No doubt she could smell the blow in his pockets, in his and the rest of the Disciples\' veins. But she didn\'t exactly seem like a partier. She didn\'t smell like a partier. So what the fuck kind of business could she have with him?

"Gents," Nikolai said lighting up another cigarette. "I think it\'s about time to go scouting. Vincent go down to Risk and get an approximation on the wait, alright? I want an answer by three. The rest of you know what to do. Don\'t pay attention to any friends of ours, ok? I\'d like some results before I leave for the day." At his words, the men scattered slowly, eyeing the woman as each left the table. Only Cole and Jockey remained in the club, starting up a game of pool with the locals.

"Now," he said as he took a deep drag off his cigarette. The younger vampire signalled for the woman to accompany him in the booth -- the other side of the booth, his jaw still tight, his lips pressed together. He licked the backs of his teeth right to left behind his lips, spinning both of his piercings. "What\'s your name?" There was only coldness in his voice, business professional despite a blackening temper.

Things were starting to go her way. This was something that pleased Lisa-Joe immensely. The booth reeked of drugs, a fact Lisa-Joe had been unaware of until she sat down and crossed her legs under the table. It was at this moment an idea popped into her head.

He\'s too professional to be a user , she pondered. The lackeys, the temper, the shows of respect from the other men. Of course he\'s a dealer!

She adverted her gaze as she mulled the fact over. Eyes were revealing things, and Lisa-Joe didn\'t want her new friend to know what she\'d just discovered. She chose to meet his gaze at being asked her name. She did her best to make the move deliberate. The message, of course, was "oh were you talking to me? I didn\'t notice."

Hopefully that\'s how it would be received. "My name is Lisa-Joe Hampton."

How he reacted to her name would be very telling. The White Rabbit had been open less than a year, but due to the fact that Lisa-Joe was such a personality, and of course her good choices of music, her club had grown very popular. If he didn\'t know who she was by name, he wasn\'t as special as he pretended to be.

Of course he recognized the name immediately. And thought nothing of it. His reaction to the name was minimal at best, his greens eyes simply watching the woman. He had known about the White Rabbit two months before it hade even opened in the city; his eyes and ears were all over this city and there was arguably no one who knew the city better. In fact he had even been to the White Rabbit himself -- once -- and did his part in pushing a great deal of blow and smack.

And what an obnoxious fucking place it was. The air had been filled with cigarette smoke and high anxiety. And fuck was it loud. It was nothing like Risk, even if it was a haven for immortals. Risk had at least some touch of class. Any Armani suit he wore into the fucking White Rabbit would have not only gotten disgusting, but rendered useless to use again by the rabble of that kind, torn to shreds.

"And what can I do for you Lisa-Joe Hampton? Is there something you\'re interested in that involves me?"

Politics were now being played. He\'d recognized the name, and it was a good thing he had. Lisa-Joe was even more impressed at the fact he didn\'t seem to give a damn. He was treating her like an equal; a fact she appreciated, although she didn\'t show it. Her mind was still working out the proposition that she intended to give. She decided to stall for just a moment longer.

"You can start by telling me your name," Lisa-Joe stated authoritatively. She refused to let this dealer run this meeting, even if she\'d been the one to approach him. She also decided to end a little confusion.

"Or am I supposed to call you blow dealer?"

He exhaled the smoke out of the corner of his mouth -- a sign of respect, more or less -- so as to not blow it in her face. Yet he did so with the slightest of smirks. "Why should I tell you my name?" He asked her curiously. "You\'ve got Oligarchy informant written all over you. No, I think I\'m perfectly fine with you calling me whatever you feel is nessecary, Lisa-Joe Hampton."

He was no fool; he could smell an Oligarch on her. She had close ties to one of them, by the smell of it. The Oligarchy may have been out for immortal control, but there was no doubt about the fact that they looked down upon -- and may even tip off the regular police about -- drug dealers and pimps. Nikolai\'s name has never, in the four and a half years that he\'s lived in the city, been tipped off to the either the Oligarchy or the police. And that\'s the way he liked to keep it. And he\'d be damned if some bitch would come into his place of business and throw his game right back into his face.

"Now what would an interesting immortal such as yourself have to do with me?"

Lisa-Joe laughed audibly at being called an Oligarchy informant. The last thing Lisa-Joe\'s clan encouraged was organized government.

"You obviously have never dealt with a Brujah before," Lisa-Joe teased. "We hate the men in charge more than anyone. The Oligarch you smell is my partner Jake McCloud. He leaves his briefcase at work and while he\'s in my club he\'s simply Jake the vampire."

She puffed her own cigarette, and blew the smoke towards the opposite side of the booth, away from the dealer\'s face.

"Now since you won\'t tell me your name, I\'ll just call you rudeness. Now, how would you feel if I told you there was another dealer attempting to push their wares into the city\'s drug scene?"

Now that would get his attention.

Nikolai shrugged. He knew nothing of this so-called \'Brujah\' and neither did he care. She smelled of an Oligarch, and that\'s all that mattered. This \'Brujah\' issue was something to be looked into at another time.

"If that\'s what you so choose, by all means. I\'ve been called much worse before." Nikolai said leaning forward and smiling a bit, as if he were interested in the conversation. If that was the best name she could come up with, he might be able to find some use for her after all -- to fill her lips with dirtier things she\'d regret in the morning.

But to this comment of another dealer, he damn-near laughed at her. What the fuck did this cunt know about the wheeling and dealing that went on inside the city? Anything that she knew would have been at worst old news or a bluff. There was nothing that happened within the city without Nikolai knowing about it personally himself first. Especially the movements of other dealers in the streets. Please. What the fuck did she think he was, some low-life scumbag who thought of dealing as a job to pay the bills? He didn\'t need the money; selling was a passion of his, a form of art. And it was his duty, more or less, as an artist to stay on top of his competition. He was a ghost in the underworld; nothing had ever been traced back to him. Not the prostitutes, not the drugs, not the killings. And this fucking cunt had the balls to bluff him in his own art which she knew little about?

"Well, Lisa-Joe Hampton, that wouldn\'t matter much at all to me. Why should it?"
