Craving Attention
« on: July 21, 2011, 06:09:46 AM »
Risk was busy tonight, as it was every night, full of regulars, donors, vampires, a variety of other supernaturals which were completely fascinating to so many. Sebastian loved learning about new things, but he’d yet to see anything really new here and besides, tonight wasn’t about learning. Sebastian wanted to talk to people, to socialise, be adored and get himself used to this world that had changed in the blink of an eye for him. The changes weren’t huge, but they were there.

Seb was sat on one of the U-shaped couches, his legs stretched out and propped up on the low table before him and his arms relaxed along the back of the sofa, one curled slightly around a mortal who was trying desperately to snuggle closer to the vampire, trying to win favour by nuzzling at Seb’s throat, whilst Seb showed little interest, chatting to the human on the other side of him who giggled happily at being shown some attention as he sipped an expensive looking cocktail.

There were a few other young men in the group, who’d slowly radiated towards the confident ancient who none of them had seen here before. Seb doubted any of them had even been alive when he went to sleep.

The vampire was wearing a pair of well made bootlegged jeans, which fitted snugly around his behind, but below the knees they flared out a little, showing the tips of leather cowboy boots poking out the bottom. His legs were crossed at the ankles, showing his soles to the rest of the club. On his upper half Seb wore a tight white t-shirt which had a slashed, low-cut neckline, showing a good amount of the pale skin which covered his chest. A black leather thong with a silver charm attached hung around his neck. he looked good, amazing in fact, but Seb wasn\'t here to feed, or to fuck, he just wanted to have a bit of fun.

Sebastian found it hard to break out of the habit of asking after the health of humans he was with and soon the boy had explained about a fall from his bike which had turned into an infected cut on his knee and Seb followed his instincts, biting his thumb and pressing it to the boy’s lips, his blood healing the human swiftly with just a few drops, which was all Seb would give. But as much as he loved the feeling of healing people the vampire stopped himself from asking the others if they had injuries, if they needed healing.. He couldn’t save the world and he’d learnt decades ago he had to stop trying.  But one or two couldn’t hurt, right?

His blue eyes flickered upwards as he felt someone’s gaze on him, and after a moment searching he found his observer and a soft smile slid over Seb’s face as he ignored the human’s inane chatter about how his knee had suddenly healed up. His arm bent at he elbow and Seb lifted his hand, wiggling his fingers slightly in a wave at the creature across from him.

Sam had been sitting at the bar for almost an hour now, she chatted with the regulars at the club that sat beside her with their backs to the bar. They chatted mostly about the mortals that were now at their finger tips, some danced, some literally poised in booths; waiting for a vampire to grace them with their presence. While others toyed with the mortals on the couches or in the VIP rooms ready to give whatever was necessary. Sometimes it was just sad as to how far a human would go to please someone of immortal status when really; all an immortal wanted sometimes was a little company and some old fashioned fun.

The older vampires agreed, it was sad at least to a point. Jesse piped up, “Although not all the mortals’ are vampire sluts.”  His eyes now scanning the dance floor for a playmate and she just nodded.

Her status as Bar Manager had given her great respect with the staff and the clientele, even on her days off she frequented the club. It also meant that even though she was very young she had the protection of the staff and customers. She sat in a relaxed position; she wore a short sleeved, red blouse that was ruffled in the front. A small but fancy silver bracelet could be seen on her right hand, her jeans were dark denim that flared out at the bottom. Her shoes were white flats that poked out and absorbed the colors of the lights that flickered through the dance floor.

Her make up was simple, light shades of browns, greens and her hair down in a thick wave. Her hair this time had remained flawless and smooth; for once.

She found nothing of interest on the dance floor; although she was unsure what she was in the mood for at the moment. Her eye’s flicked back towards the door then slowly down the bar where she remained sitting at the moment. It seemed to be a dud night, until she found a man sitting unperturbed in the U shaped couches. A mortal latched to his side, her gaze stopped as she looked at him.

She didn’t know why her gaze stopped on him, maybe it was the mortal he was entertaining or rather his strange action towards the mortal. He bit his thumb then pressed it to the mortal’s lips. Rather odd, mortals usually feed the immortal and certainly it was even rarer to see someone heal another in this place. Death could occur any time here after all it was called ‘Risk’ for a good reason. Here the ultimate price could be your life, more so for the fragile humans.

She was almost startled when the man finely noticed her, his sharp blue eyes met her silvery gaze. A soft smile emerged as he wiggled his fingers in her direction, the blood drained to her lips giving them a blood red appearance. She was embarrassed, she had been caught staring in something that was she was guessing supposed to be private but she gave him a small and apologetic smile. Her eyes wanted to flash downwards but she couldn’t look away, least not till she knew she hadn’t offended him by any means.

Seb’s grin grew as he caught the girl watching him and saw the smile on her lips. She was too far away for him to properly judge her age, but he was sure she was a vampire. He twisted his hand at the wrist and flicked a couple of fingers in a gesture which clearly meant ‘come here’.

He would wait until she responded, hopefully by coming in his direction before saying a soft word to each of the boys on either side of him and sending them off on their way, both looking hurt and disappointed and the others around him slowly dispersed as well with a gesture from the ancient, leaving the booth empty apart from the dark haired vampire.

A grin, at least she hadn\'t offended him in the least. His smile was inviting, his wrist motioned Sam to come over. She was hesitant, she turned her back as if to disobey; but in her bartender hands were drinks as she twisted around. Sweeping her feet onto the floor; Sam moved and darted within the crowd careful not to spill a drop.

She could see a motion made and the mortals dispersing from the couches, she was calm as she neared the couch. She stopped midway up his legs that were extended and his feet on the table in front of him; while Sam stood with that same small smile, “I hope I didn’t disturb you.”  She was sweet and truthful, it happened but it was still a little awkward.

As she approached Seb stayed where he was, still looking completely relaxed and idly examining his fingernails as he waited patiently for her. His dark blue eyes raised as her shapely legs came to a stop beside him.

“You disturbed my time with them… but I was getting fed up of them anyway. Have humans always been so whingy?” he asked, making a small gesture for the fledgling to sit down. He could feel how young she was now - she couldn’t have even been alive when he’d gone to ground. Everyone here felt so young. Were there no ancients left in the city?

“Then may you accept this drink as my apology.” She placed the drinks on the table. Where his feet still lay, she sat down a couch cushion away; facing him with her feet touching the ground. Her arms folded in her lap gently,“I’m Sam, what brings you here.” Her silver eyeballs glanced into his mysterious blue eyes.

He was old, his sense of power emitted from him robustly. His age was unknown to her. Sam was not about to make a fool of herself and ask his age, it didn’t matter at this point. She knew enough, he was older ….. much older.

“I may indeed,” Seb murmured, casting a glance towards the drink on the table, raising an eyebrow slightly. He ignored her name and question, but turned his face towards her slightly, not bothering to move the rest of his body. He assumed it was blood in the glass, she would be a complete idiot if she offered him anything else, but there were so many different distinct scents in this place he couldn’t be bothered trying to pick out that one smell.

“So was that you actually offering me the blood and an apology?” he asked. She was young, naïve, probably quite sweet, but Seb liked people to say what they meant and had no time for simpletons and was here for fun - trying to educate someone was not in his plans for tonight. She was trying to be respectful, by offering him a drink, but she hadn\'t really done that and she\'d put it on the table where he would have to completely rearrange himself in order to reach it which showed a distinct lack of respect in his opinion.

She raised her right eye brow high while turning her head slightly. Why on earth would he ask her that, “Yes ….” She drew out, “anything else would be foolish.” He ignored her introduction and her question but she was not fazed. Men of his age held a high stature; you just had to roll with the punches.

She picked up the glass of blood from the table; holding it in her hand, with a smile on her face, “Look, I’m Bar Manager here. Which means I have some pull in this place. When you’re with me you get to do things others can’t.” She gave a quirky smirk, “I’m sensing you want fun”, she paused then snapped her fingers, “You want to socialize, be talked to and … be adored. Am I in the ball park?” She already knew the answer too for she was just that good.

Bar Manager gave her a few skills over the years, listening was one of them. She was in her element; this was a club to him but this was home to Sam. Home had always enlightened Sam and in turn she would stimulate his mind with a fun filled time. She got closer to him, so he wouldn’t have to move to take her \'apology glass’ out of her hand.

“Yes, it would. Hence why I asked as you hadn’t bothered to actually apologise and I know nothing about you. You may well be incredibly foolish,” Seb said with a casual shrug.

The dark haired vampire wrinkled up his nose, looking less than impressed as the youngling showed off her supposed "talent", boasting about nothing worthwhile. The interest which had been sparked when he had caught her watching him was quickly fading and he was beginning to wish he hadn’t sent his humans away so quickly. They were pathetic too, but at least he could drink warm fresh blood from them.

The older vampire gave a slow clap, the smile now gone from his face as he watched her, ignoring the glass of blood she held.

“Wow, that is some skill. You could tell all that just from looking at me? Or the fact that I was in a night club surrounded by humans who couldn’t get enough of me? Please, enlighten me,” he said in a voice dripping with sarcasm. Huamns he was usually nice to if they seemed somewhat dense, because he felt sorry for them. Vampires didn’t deserve his pity, they just received scorn.

His attitude was not appealing to Sam; in fact it was rather rude of him. She stayed calm while his remarks rubbed her the wrong way. Older vampires these days always held themselves above others and she hoped she never became like that; older or not he was in her club and she could have him escorted out for a number of reasons. A slight smile came to her lips, a fun idea but she decided against throwing him out.

“None of the above,” she replied. I am not foolish, she thought curtly. She studied him as if he was a book. She briefly looked him over; her eye’s darting back and forth as if she was reading words on a page. Interesting, then yet again their was nothing really special about him just his old age really and maybe his abilities.

“It was your posture really, the human you had before that snuggled up to you while drinking an expensive drink you seemed to hold very little interest.” She leaned back as if she was the dominate one in the situation now. “And yet you want to be adored and talked too yet you picked some rather boring mortal to whom you showed no interest in having his company that’s just a waste of your time in this club.” She wanted to shake her head at him but waved off the idea.

“Your not here for fucking or feeding and it seemed that you are uptight by my company so poses the question exactly what fun do you plan to find here if you show little interest in the mortals and immortals alike.” It was a question that really needed to be answered for she was sure that this man wouldn’t find any better company in Sam at least she hoped.

Sebastian rolled his eyes as she carried on talking, trying to take control of the situation but just making herself sound even more like an idiot.

“It was a rhetorical question,” Seb pointed out, when it was something she should have already known if she was as savvy and experienced as she believed herself to be. A flicker of a smile crossed his lips as she considered chucking him out of the club, catching the stray thought because he was peeking out of habit. She really thought she would be able to get him chucked out of here? Clients like him were the reason Risk could stay open. And she was not the owner. This was no ther club. Seb hadn’t been in the city long, but he made sure he knew who the important people were. She was not an important person.

“I was hoping to find someone more interesting, sometimes you have to have a little patience. You may learn that with time. And I thought I may have found someone. Apparently I was wrong. This place has clearly gone down market since it came under… new management.” Seb lifted a finger to stop her if she tried to interrupt, which he had no doubt she would, but even if she tried to talk he would plough on regardless.

“I can find more stimulating conversation on the streets than here with you. You looked confident, fun, but your head is far shoved up your own ass you can just about see out of your mouth. And like all children, you probably think I’m the one who is big headed simply because I have almost two millennia on you. Now, are you going to try to prove me wrong, or buzz off and find someone else to bug?” he asked.

She set down the glasses in a timely manner as she listened to him; the blood was cold by now he wouldn’t drink it. What a bloody waste, so was his assumption of her thinking he was ‘big headed.’ He was older, more refined and she knew that from the start of conversation. So far contrary to his idea she had been more than patient with him and his remarks. His lifting a finger assuming she would reply made her a bit angry. She got the hint and the finger wasn\'t needed.

She hadn’t been interesting at the moment. When you’re thought of as naïve and young it wasn’t the greatest situation to be \'interesting\'. Then again he wanted to socialize; a little light bulb went on her head.

“What I find interesting is,” she waved down a fellow female staff member and requested the finest blood. She left and Sam continued, “what you were doing with that mortal before you caught me staring,” she smiled. She was no longer embarassed by her being caught, her lips no longer felt so hot by the blood that had once rushed there so quickly.

“Now,” the female returned with their drinks, Sam stood and took them off the tray. She sat down on his right side holding the glass out for him. She had to try even if it was under not ideal conditions, the waitress left for good this time, "are you going to tell me ?" she said with the glass still hanging from her finger tips.

Seb glanced away, clearly uninterested and unimpressed as she summoned the waitress, acting as though she owned the place when he already knew that was not the case. His Lucy had been thorough in her efforts to make sure he knew the most interesting titbits of information, although there were a few gaps in her knowledge.

And now this child was demanding information from him as though he had refused to answer her question, when in fact she had never even asked. Even the stupidest vampire would be able to feel his age. They would feel like they should give him respect for how long he had been on this earth. Her ignoring that knowledge and those urges was incredibly unwise and if he had a worse temper it could easily get her killed.

“I am almost two thousand years old  and you haven‘t even lived one lifetime. If you want to ask me a question I will happily answer and most courteously, if you ask politely, and without acting as though I am a schoolchild trying to keep information from you,” Seb said in a peaceful voice as he took the glass and swirled the warm blood around to smell it.

“Now, try again,” he said softly, gesturing for Sam to speak.

He was trying her patience. Sam was a Ventrue and she wasn\'t even sure if he knew what faction she belonged too. She wasn\'t just some fledgling, as Jake, her sire tried to make her believe most days. After all their nicknames were \'blue bloods\' and took immense pride in being apart of the bloodline. Although this wasn\'t her opinion two years ago, after a painful and physcological embrace. She was not chosen more like she just happened one night \'accidently.\' She became apart of the bloodline his bloodline whether they both liked it or not. Even now still she and her sire a distant personal relationship, her relationship with the clan itself was strong. She felt an immense weight on her shoulders, more so than others because she had so much more to prove in this life.

She gave a sigh towards him, I haven\'t lived a lifetime but my clan and it\'s history have for a long time, I\'m apart of that now.She didn\'t know it the statement mattered but it gave herself a bit of release before she made this worse; she hated losing her temper. To him she may have been rude or impolite but she had a major age gap and with her clans views of themselves it maybe suggested that he knew very little of the Camarillia. Suddenly she got this look on her face of extreme calm, she set her glass down on the table. She still sat at his right side but she straightened her back and clasped her hands firmly together in her lap. She felt relieved, the anger had escaped from her body. Her smile was less than shining it as she seemed sad that he didn\'t understand.

"I do not mean to disrespect you if that\'s that\'s the way I came off towards you. I only seek the truth in things and I know my questions may seem rude but I am only curious for it is the way of our \'clan\'." She didn\'t know what happened but something just took her, her voice became angelic as if she was spell bound, "If you permit me asking and should you want to share. What were you doing with that mortal ?" she was calm. Sam had asked politely just as he had asked; for the most part of the evening it seemed Sam being polite was getting her nowhere.

Maybe it will now, she thought somewhat feeling different.

Oh, fabulous, another mind washed clan member. And she was fucking sighing at him. All pity he felt at her obliviousness disappeared. So she belonged to a clan, that gave her even less social standing in Seb’s eyes, no matter how high and mighty this child believe it would make her. Belonging to a group which contained some great people did not make one great.

“I was healing him. Unfortunately I can only do so much healing in this world. Some are too damaged,” Seb said in a polite, but cold voice before he put his untouched blood down on the table and stood up.

“Now I tire of this. If you’re the kind of person they hire in this place I doubt I will return until they make a few changes. I’m sure the actual owner of the club will be delighted to hear that a member of a clan who should be leaders can’t even handle managing a bar,” he said before strolling towards the door of the club, scooping up the hand of the young man who had been fawning over him earlier and heading off to find fun elsewhere.

((End of thread))
