Emil should have done more question asking than he was doing answering he knew, but he was a bit worried on what sort of questions he might ask Sam and where they might lead. It had already become clear she was the blunt type and he had already stepped on her toes by mentioning her family of whom were long gone so he didn’t want to ask anything further, such as who and most importantly where her sire was.

He couldn’t remember how old a fledging had to be before they would be alright on their own without Sire instruction, but he knew that his own sire had decided twenty years of training was the bare minimum. He’d learned by now that was quite a bit more than the minimum, but he figured that went hand in hand with the phrase ‘rather safe than sorry’.
“Mmm, yes, darling! I’ve attended a university many times, mayhaps one too many times if you know what I mean by it, pookie,” He winked.

“Oh, that dastardly process! Education’s much the same from the years, listen, regurgitate, listen, regurgitate.  There was a time, dear heart, where higher education was for one’s own amusement rather than to establish credentials in a given field. Now it’s quite required everywhere you go and I absolutely love the arts, I do, but my skill isn’t in art as much as is in performance. The wonders of a good singing voice and knack for theatre brought me a long way! Theatre is what I started with, in fact! Mm, it was a craft passed down from father to son and would continue, were it not for…”

He paused, thinking of how his plans to have a family had been cut rather short. Of course, he had waited for much to old considering his age and the time but had he continued living he was confident he would have found a suitable wife and sown his seeds. Remembering he’d never have that experience created a bit of a pause as a reflective expression passed his face, but he soon smiled again, never one to dwell.

“Well, I’m sure you know what I’m alluding to, hmm, pookie?”

He decided it was best to change the topic now that he’d gone and made thing unintentionally awkward.

“So then, I’m supposing the thing we’re supposed to be looking for isn’t here?” He looked to the Mayan calendar once more, seeing nothing special in particular, but maybe Sam had already spotted it.

Sam felt absolutely graced by Emil's presence as he spoke about history in learning the Arts, it was nice to be in the company of someone as bright as Emil. Although he seemed to rabble on sometimes it was nice to sometimes be out of the spot light as Sam was a little shy at first but that usually went away once she was in a room long enough.

She shook her head, "We're not quite done this exhibit yet. But I really don't see anything out of place or feel anything odd." She took a look around as she was less interested in telling Emil about the history of the Mayan culture and more interested in finding whatever weird thing was suppose to be on this floor in one of the exhibits.

"Let's go look at King Pacal's tomb. Maybe there is something that is out of place." She hoped their was something as she didn't want this night to end on a boring note. Sam started to walk and she knew Emil would follow, she had to look at the map she had grabbed before entering the exhibit giving the map a second look. Then she felt she was being somewhat rude and her eyes exited off the map.

"Do you know who King Pacal is ?" She blurted her sentence out.

Indeed, when Sam began to walk away, Emil followed, but he did feel rather pushed away. Emil’s tendency was for physical contact. If he was going somewhere with someone he grabbed onto them and held them close. For the most part it was instinctual and he didn’t stop to think that not everyone liked to be touched in the same way that he did. He wouldn’t let Sam get away with this distant behavior for long.

“Heavens, Sam! The spirit of you! It’s hard to keep up, really, but I think you’re right, I do need to brush up a bit on my history of Ancient Cultures. King Pacal jots nothing in my memory banks! ”

He truly didn’t have the memory of events to have anywhere of an intellectual conversation about any historical figures or artifacts from the Mayan culture with Sam, and even if he had, he wouldn’t have wanted to. His perception of art was about feelings, not fact. Expression was his preferred medium of communication.

He now attempted to link his arm with Sam’s arm, giving her a smile in affirmation of the action.

“Now next time you go wandering away from me I expect you to hold on! Why with as much as I pay attention you could have left me in the dust!” The reasoning was partially sound, but mainly it was a joking way of insisting that she not shy away from touch. He wanted to establish that it was alright for her to reach out and tug him in the same way he’d do to her; friendly and humanistic in nature.

Sam was startled by Emil's actions and she wanted to pull her arm out of Emil's grasp but she felt he would take offense and she only shrugged her shoulders. She tried to gather her thoughts as she was more than shocked at Emil grabbing her arm than anything else and she seemed to shy away even though Emil told her not too it was easier said than done. Her body started too shake just for a second before she managed to compose herself, Emil was quite something else all together.

"His real name was K’inich Janaab Pakal. He was born on March 23, 603 C.E. his father was Lord K’an Mo’Hix and Lady Sak K’uk’, the reigning Queen. The royal family claimed the throne through the First Mother, affectionately known to scholars as Lady Beastie. Theirs was one of the few pre-Colombian dynasties that allowed a woman to take the crown in default of a male heir. Even so, she was expected to step down the moment any son of hers reached maturity. Pacal, whose name means “Shield” in the Mayan tongue, was crowned king by his mother on July 29th, 615, shortly after his 12th birthday."

She pulled him towards the left as she took him down the path, she was still feeling a little awkward with Emil being so close and she waited for his opinion on the subject.

Emil didn’t seem to notice that Sam was uncomfortable in any shape or form with the physical contact. He simply smiled at it, content as ever that she was closer to him rather than being distant. As he listened to the younger vampire prattle more history out, he found himself somewhat confused and partially bored by it. He would never admit that he wasn’t completely engrossed in what she was saying of course- it would be rude, and he wanted Sam to feel like she was important. If this was what she was interested in, he would gladly accommodate it.
“Oooh, that’s fascinating, indeed! You’ve got quite the memory on you, too. It’s amazing you can remember all of those dates and details.”

He gave Sam a genuine compliment. She was such a young vampire that he doubted her memorization had anything to do with her powers as a vampire or simply having the time to memorize such details. Indeed, she probably had known all of this information in the same capacity in her human days, and looking back on his own he knew he wouldn’t have had such good recall.

“Indeed, it sounds like a progressive culture for the times, as progressive as was possible I’m sure. But I’m not quite sure I understand all of what you said, pookie.”

He scrunched his eyebrows together, trying to think of a way to explain his confusion. He was certain she’d gotten her initial point across- that the Mayan culture had been fascinating because of the way that they treated women- but the actual linear thinking of why the woman had gotten the throne drew a blank in his mind.

“Now, why was it that this boy-king’s mother became privy of the throne in the first place? Had she been the only child of the royal line and unmarried, or had her husband died?”

She beamed at Emil for asking such a good question, "It's simple really." To Sam it was simple but she somewhat forgot that this wasn't Emil's cup of tea you would say. "Basically when Lady Sak K’uk father had died she ascended to the throne. Her husband was married into the family." She was suffice with the simple answer and hoped it would be enough for Emil.

They had arrived at King Pacal's tomb, nothing was out of the ordinary and she was a little bummed out that they hadn't found anything unusual; yet. "There's nothing here." She had bit of disappointment in her voice and then she shrugged her shoulders.

"We have one more exhibit left of this floor. Let's head on over there." She was getting a bit more comfortable with having Emil on her arm; it was a nice change.

It made sense, then; she’d been the only heir to the throne. But when she married, why didn’t the husband become King? Had he died? Some questions lingered in his head about the matter but he pushed them away, deciding that Sam had been sharing some trivia and that he didn’t need to make a huge conversation about the details of which. It was just neat information to know and he smiled at her when she’d spoken it to him, allowing the younger vampire to lead the way.

“Mmm, it does make sense, sweetheart! Thank you for sharing that. Surely, the last exhibit will have what you’re looking for, or I suppose, what we’re both looking for! Oh, my giddy aunt, this is a bit exciting don’t you think? It’s as if we’re on a scavenger hunt or something. I wonder what the item could possibly be! Oooh, my mind is spinning, honey!”

His excitement was like electricity, energy radiating from his voice. If he’d been mortal his heart would have beat strongly; Emil was putting on quite the show.

Sam had a grin on her face but she also had one eyebrow slightly raised at Emil's energy levels as he seemed so hyper she wondered of he was like this all the time. It's not that their was nothing wrong with being so up beat it was just oh my word he seemed like he was a little to happy or excited over such small things. Although Sam was thankful that it wasn't annoying and it seemed to keep her entertained for the most of the evening.

As she pulled Emli along towards the Salem witch trails exhibit, this was a period of time that she looked at as a tragedy. As they walked in the exhibit it gave off a very creepy feel to the whole area, it was her kind of show. Although not everyone liked the whole scary or horror thing and she turned towards Emil with a sly smile on her face.

"You don't scare easy do you ?" She would protect him if he needed it but she wouldn't guarantee that she wouldn't get a kick out of it.
