He was almost asleep, lulled by the warmth of Lamar, the arm curled around his hip and the long day he had had. He pressed his lips to Lamar's shoulder as he clung back, on the verge of slumber when Lamar started speaking again.

"Are we what?" he asked, his lips twitching into a frown as his eyes closed, basking in the warmth Lamar provided. He didn't quite get the connotation that they would be anything other than a vampire and a human in this state. What could Lamar possibly mean?

Friends? He and Emil were friends. Yes, surely that was what Lamar was asking. After all, what else could they be? Although wasn't it a redundant question? He wondered to himself. After all, why else would Emil let him stay the night?

"Yeah…of course we are," he continued before Lamar could speak again. "Why wouldn't we be?"

Nothing else would have forced Lamar awake as quickly. He has suspected that Emil and Bill were together. Now to hear it spoken so firmly, Lamar couldn’t help but feel intense jealousy raging throughout him. But he eased himself internally; he knew Emil better than Bill ever could and he knew what they had just done and what it would mean to Bill and Emil’s relationship.

“Well, I dunno,” Lamar lulled. He was trying to keep his tone even and relaxed but it was almost as if he was seconds away from a punch line. He’d tricked Bill- gotten him- and now he wanted Bill to know he’d been had.

"Won't he be mad that you cheated?"

Lamar's words really didn't make sense to Bill, but he was too close to sleep to realize the misunderstanding that had taken place. What had Bill cheated at? Friendship wasn't a game. Maybe he meant…cheating on Emil by going to Lamar for comfort? But that didn't really make sense, did it?

Bill slowly blinked his eyes open at Lamar, only able to produce one word before they slipped shut again.

"Huh?" He curled closer to Lamar, reaching down to draw a mussed blanket over them both, head already clouded and ready to send him off to sleep. "Why would he?"

Was Bill for real? Lamar didn’t understand if Bill was seriously naïve enough to think he’d be forgiven for his infidelity so quickly by Emil or if he simply didn’t care. He pulled his body away from Bill, preparing to leave.

“I dunno, I just thought he’d want fidelity.” He could have launched on and on about the reasons why his ex-lover wouldn’t like it if he’d found out they’d slept together, but he decided that if Bill wasn’t going to feel guilt about it now, he never was going to feel guilt about it. Maybe Bill had been preparing to break up with Emil or wasn’t really that into the relationship. The fact that he wasn’t begging for Lamar to keep their little slip up a secret indicated to Lamar that Bill wasn’t concerned about his relationship at all. It was just as well, then. Emil would break him up with him cleanly tomorrow evening and he wouldn’t have to worry about Bill anymore.

A small noise of protest came from Bill as Lamar pulled away, his source of warmth leaving him. He quickly burrowed down into the blankets, soaking in the warmth his companion had left. The comment, unfortunately, went right over his head, though in the morning he would surely wake up and worry over that last comment over and over again.

He and Emil were not together and in his opinion, probably never would be; that didn't stop him from thinking, however, that perhaps Emil wouldn't want him anymore since he had slept with his roommate. It certainly wasn't the most courteous thing to do when being invited to sleep over, and he was sure that he would be completely mortified when he woke up. For now, though…he slept.

Although he usually stayed in bed after sleeping with someone, Lamar found that he had no desire to do so. Perhaps it was the emotional impact of realizing that someone he loved was being dated by someone blatantly didn’t care that he was cheating. It reminded him of their own relationship. This hadn’t been the way Stanislav had viewed him, had it? It couldn’t possibly be.

The sudden sour emotions drew him from the bed, where he found his clothes and quickly dressed. He turned the bedroom light off and exited the room, depositing of the condom and any traces of what he’d just done. Soon Dylan would retreat to the bedroom and Stanislav would return to his own bed.

Lamar, however, opened the front door and started up his Jaguar Hybrid. He didn’t plan to be returning…at least not until he was sure things between Bill and Stanislav had finally blown over.
