"How about I just do both? Forever?" Morgaine's smile dropped into a wide-eyed crazy-person expression, brown eyes boring into Levvy's. She left her raised hand where it had been, even after the blonde released it. Then the grin was back, and she waved the hand, "Sorry. Dumb joke. Yeah, drinks would be great! Vodka Collins, heavy and the vodka and, ummmm, lets say...two shots. You pick, 'cause you're drinkin' one."

The awestruck look on the bartender's face certainly ingratiated her to the singer -- the blush the dim lighting did nothing to hide didn't hurt, either. Bonding moment? Maybe; Morgaine bonded with a lot of people. But bartenders were at the top of that list, and head bartenders -- well, they were a whole 'nother bag of cats.

She settled herself down on her knees on the stool. Her makeup was more subdued tonight -- a simple smoky raccoon-eye in red and gold and shining orange-red lips -- due to her not being onstage.

Sam had waited for over an hour for Jake before she decided to leave for the club, he wasn't answering any of her text messages or phone calls. He had been so busy lately that she felt as if he had forgotten about her once again, but then again she was anticipating in this happening with Jake running a new district. She missed their daily talks and training lessons that Jake was teaching her; including how to feed from a human safety. She had fed from a few human's since she and Jake had made a trip back to Pisky Park, where everything had all started. She had promised Jake that she would never kill a human, she wouldn't make the same mistake her big brother Scott had made with Bryant. She was so angry with him at the time and now she had somewhat forgiven him for his mistake; but he was on a tight leash.

None of that mattered tonight, she was here to support the club that she had called home for so many years; and still called home. With Jake losing the district over Vomas she was fired due to a conflict of interest. She wasn't in anyway bitter towards the club and a she had received a nice bonus as well as a VIP membership; something she was very excited about for a change. She had even sent gifts and roses to those in club showing that there was no hard feelings. Although she had a special gift for Levinia that she was delivering personally.

Tonight would be the night everyone would see her in a different light, she wore a red Eveline dress that ended just above her knee's. A pleated twist in the front sat low on her hips giving it that silhouette look, while the neck line draped down just a little lower than usual as she had custom ordered this dress for the big event without prior knowledge that she would be let go. Black strapped stiletto shoes that were open at the toe made Sam at least three inches taller adorned her feet, she felt a little weird being so tall. While her make-up consisted of the color's green and purple for her eye's along with massacre and black eyeliner, while her lips were stained with a lip stain and a small amount of blush was applied to her long dead cheeks. Topped off with some large hoop earrings to complete that rocker look.

Her hair was done up like a rock star, full of volume and lots of wave that crashed over her shoulders. She felt like a girly girl but in a way it made her feel confident as a woman, she wondered if anyone would recognize her new look. She said hello to George as she walked into the club and took pride in seeing the look on his face, it was rare to see Sam in a dress. She walked in the club heading straight for the bar, she took time to notice the groups of people that had gathered together. Including Conner and Vomas, to which Sam gave a small wave to Conner not wanting to interrupt their conversation.

She could see that Levinia was busy with a person right now and the lady she was talking with look like someone from the band The Hunt which was good for Levinia since she was a fantastic singer herself, she had witnessed it on Open Mic night that was held on Wednesdays. She decided to wait for her friend ordering a glass of blood from Brett whom was happy to see her giving her a big hug before he had to attend to the customers. She sat alone sipping her blood while the gift that was sitting on the bar had Levinia's name all over it once she had a chance to make her way over to Sam.

She smiled at the awkward joke and made the first drink just as Morgaine asked. Levvy delivered the first drink to Morgaine as she made it and swiftly threw two shot glasses down the bar from the end, letting them slide until they just about reached Morgaine. She twisted around and pondered the selection of booze - so much to choose from! After a moment or so, she nabbed the Patron and doused the glasses in it. Before offering it to her guest, she cut up a lime and handed Morgaine a slice. She licked the skin between her finger and her thumb and sprinkled the salt flakes on top so that they stuck and offered the salt to Morgaine in case she wanted to do the same. Whether or not she took it and followed suit, Levinia raised her glass in her other hand for a toast, while balancing the lime and salt in the other.

"To Venture," she proposed grandly, then added, "and to shitty jokes!" If Morgaine didn't propose anything else, Levvy inhaled, licked the salt, threw back her third shot of tequila, bit the lime and scrunched her face when the kick hit her.

"To life, and a lack thereof!" added the other woman, before following suit to a T – minus the scrunchface at the end, but that's only because she was chasing with her first drink.

That first drink caused her eyes to roll back into her head with ecstasy. Even with the extra vodka, Levvy had managed to mix the perfect vodka Collins: "Oh my god," the singer enthused, "Just like cotton candy, perfect. You are truly a God among bartenders."

And it wasn't Levvy that noticed Sam, but Morgaine, who sent her glance skittering sidelong only long enough to recognize the third woman. She'd known the former head bartend's face, but not her name – she usually got Ami to order her drinks, or got bottles sent backstage. "Hey, isn't that...?" she left the question open as her gaze returned to Levvy's face, not wanting to be rude in case there were bad feelings there.

His eyes followed Samuel as he brushed by and made a beeline for the stairs, but only a tightening at the corners of his mouth betrayed his annoyance. He focused again on Conner. Business. They had business to discuss.

"I'm doing well, thank you," Vomas responded, and inclined his head very slightly. "I'll be hosting an opening of my own soon." He gestured towards an empty booth that was on the opposite side of the room, tucked in a corner and as far away from the bar and all the activity going on there as possible. "I'd love to discuss it somewhere quieter, if you'd join me?"

When Conner answered in the affirmative, Vomas led the way across the floor at a sedate pace and once they arrived at their destination, eased himself onto the plush leather seating. "What do you know of Beacon Towers?" he asked after Conner sat across from him.

A mortal with a tray approached their table, but before Vomas could wave them on, they deposited two full glasses of blood and then breezed back to the bar. Without taking his eyes off Conner, he reached for the stemmed glassware closest to him and took a sip. Only a touch above room temperature. B+. He was torn between being impressed and dismayed that whoever was running things knew not only his favorite type of blood, but the temperature at which he always drank it.

Dismay won out in the end, because it meant he was being observed far more closely than he was comfortable with - even at the Towers.

Conner spotted Sam across the way, a short distance down the bar, from the corner of his eye just before Vomas suggested they relocate. Perhaps he agreed too quickly, but he couldn't deal with what seemed to be the herd of fledglings in his life. Not tonight, not with everything else. He followed the District Leader to the booth in a somewhat quieter portion of the club and positioned himself squarely across the table from him.

When the blood was deposited, he was suspicious. It was in his nature to be suspicious, but with Kerr's disappearance, the information leak about the mimic demons, and the fact that it was somewhat higher than the normal human body temperature when he picked it up, he didn't even sniff it. Besides being paranoid in general, he was put on edge by someone's knowledge that he took his blood extremely warm. Besides which, there truly was no such thing as a free lunch. When queried about his knowledge of Beacon Towers, he had to put his tactical analysis of the back of their server's head on hold in order to answer.

"I'm aware you've been renovating the property, buying everything necessary to fit out a casino and resort hotel," he started, then realized he was out of things to say on the matter. Truth be told, Vomas and his District really hadn't been up to anything very suspicious as of late. Everyone was getting their affairs in order for their new headquarters, and if anyone's offices were suspicious, it was Jake's. "What I haven't heard is when you plan to open, and if it will be a place where our kind may present ourselves openly. I've heard that it will be quite nice."

___________________________________________________________

Jonathon was pleased with his investment in a VIP membership to Venture. He'd already decided to buy before he took the tour, but he enjoyed seeing the facilities and getting the information. Besides which, there were so many young vampires here for such an important night. How many fledglings, with their barely shielded minds, had his psychic fingers touched so far tonight? Ten? Fifteen? The powerful vampires of this city had been busy lately indeed, and not with work he presumed. Tonight he was out for revelry, so he put such thoughts from his mind; he had longer term conquests he preferred at the moment in any case. He could just barely see him from his current position near the base of the stairs. The City Ward Director was seated at a booth with who appeared to be the local District Leader, Vomas. He was going to be a fun one to break, but it would take time and finesse. In the end, Jonathon was sure he'd have the unstable blood mage and his entire organization heeling on his leash.

Tonight, he reminded himself again, was for short term indulgences. Mortals, dance, sex.... he wandered by the bar, letting his casually predatory gaze convey his uncompromising motivations to those seated there. He thought he cut quite the figure in a maroon and gray Armani shirt and jeans that were nearly too form-fitting to be fashionable. He walked with a confidence that bordered on arrogance, eyes lingering on a mortal here or there, hunting for something that looked fun and obviously not making a secret of it.

Sebastian tilted his head to one side slightly at Ben’s sudden string of questions – it was definitely better than the silence and look of disinterest than Ben had been giving previously, but only slightly. His blue eyes drifted over Ben’s face, the blonde was definitely too young to go to ground, so that ‘too’ couldn’t be referring to his own experiences. Btu if he’d discussed it with others then he may well be considering it. And Seb would have been a hypocrite to judge him for that.

“I was aware of it in that I would wake up every now and again. But then I would sleep more because it still hurt. Until I realised it wasn’t going to get better,” Sebastian said quietly, not taking his eyes off Ben.

“I had some things to take care of before I went, someone to look after my house, my affairs,” he said, hesitating slightly before he went on. “I stayed away for thirty years, I didn’t mean it to be that long,” he said, frowning slightly. He hadn’t realised how long it had been when he’d first woken up, it had been a bit of a shock. He’d thought it might have been a few months, maybe a year. Not thirty.

“You’re too young to be considering it,” he said firmly. At most Ben could handle a couple of days, but the hunger, although lessened whilst underground, would be too much.

Sebastian's answer made more sense to Ben - that he'd been sleeping - unlike Vincent, who'd been awake and aware the whole time through it.  But it seemed that being underground didn't take the grief away.  What was the point of going to ground then?  Perhaps it was a safety net, when the world was going to hell and it was easier just to let it move on for a bit without you.  Obviously losing a sire was akin to the sensation of the world coming to an end.  It made sense to him, viewing it that way.  When Sebastian went on to explain he'd gone for thirty years and hadn't meant for it to be so long... that worried Ben too.  Oversleeping wasn't something he'd figured on.  He'd thought vampires could set a self-timer to at least wake up in five years time or whatever and 'ding!' like a microwave, they would know when they'd be ready.

Ben nodded, agreeing with Sebastian.  He was too young, it was too soon, he wasn't about to do it anyway - but Sebastian's answers were going to be written down in his newest journal along with Vincent's.

"Yes, thank you," he said, because nodding hadn't felt like enough, and he sat back again and looked around.  He'd been thinking of Vincent just now, and he wondered if the other vampire was here.  He'd wanted to set a date for training, but didn't want to use the phone if he could bump into the other vampire again.  In his quick glance around, it was difficult not to notice Sam fuming and glaring at him from such a short distance away.  Ben's gaze rested on him for a while, puzzled to be receiving this nasty look - usually reserved for the Chambers Library.

Oh.  Of course.  No more Chambers Library.

Vincent had been found by a member of waitstaff, a new one he didn't recognise, but there were a lot more staff floating around this area than there'd ever been at Risk, he surmised.  He supposed a bigger club needed more people to serve - or they could just be hired for the party.  He ordered what he knew Owen liked as well as his own, and asked for it to come once his fledge returned from the bar.  The fellow who took his order asked for Owen to be pointed out and so Vincent turned and did so, getting thanks for it before the waiter moved on to touch Owen's elbow for his attention (who was getting very close to the bar but wasn't at it yet).  Vincent watched as the staffer indicated Owen could receive his order while seated with Vincent and then hurried away after Owen's answer.

Sam's silent tirade was interrupted unexpectedly by a deep voice on his right greeting him uncertainly.  He turned and frowned at the large mortal, not really recognising him and not having paid too much attention to what he'd said as an opening line (though he assumed it was something to do with being offered a drink).  He quickly found out he was very wrong and his mood shifted dramatically as his unexpected companion continued speaking.

"You're that friend of Gene's, aren't you?" Dom asked, smiling his most beguiling smile as he pretended to not really know who Sam was.  Like he hadn't listened to Gene get drunk and lament the mistake he'd made in not opening up to this guy sooner.  Gene would likely want to kill him for even starting this conversation but he had a very specific reason for seeking Sam out and telling him Gene was on his way; entry into the club.

"Gene?  Oh, yes!  I'm Sam," he drawled, reaching out a hand to be shaken.

"Dom," the mortal responded, his white teeth flashing in the darkness as he shook the vampire's cold hand enthusiastically.  "Yeah, I remember you from Sticks and Stakes.  I called Gene a while ago and told him to come down here because they were letting non-invitees in if they were good looking but he hasn't made it inside yet," Dom explained with an apologetic chuckle.

Sam examined the mortal's demeanour, his mind racing and his senses flaring at the thought of seeing Gene again tonight.  He quickly decided he would like that very much, despite their last encounter being somewhat awkward when he confessed to being in a relationship with Vomas.  Fat lot of good that was doing him and, frankly, he half expected that it would all be over soon anyway.  How ironic that the last time he'd actually seen Gene (he'd tried calling him afterwards but their conversations had become shorter and more awkward as things progressed swimmingly with Vomas, until he'd given up calling the mortal 'just to catch up' - mainly because his calls weren't answered anyway) was the night Vomas had told him to surrender his heart.

"You know, I might just be able to help with that," Sam said with a grim smile and he turned and hastened downstairs, too caught up in his vindictive thoughts to notice Dom's smug smile.  When he reached the ground level, he didn't bother looking around to see what Vomas was doing, he headed straight for the entrance and spoke quietly to one of the bouncers.  The other was, coincidentally, scanning the line to bring in another three mortals and Sam hastily checked that Gene was there - giving him a little wave of encouragement that caused all the people lined up ahead of him to turn and look at him - before he requested his friend be brought in as soon as possible.  The bouncer called her partner back and relayed Sam's wish for the dirty blonde-haired mortal to be given entry to the club and they gave him a hard stare, which he did his best to remain firm beneath, before the one who'd been out choosing agreed and went to collect the next batch of mortal entrants to the club.

Sam stepped back deeper into the club as the three mortals approached, ignoring the two strangers that went giddily by him and concentrating intently on Gene's expression, trying to judge whether he was glad to see him or not.  At first, his smile was beautiful and happy but then he looked uncertain as he got closer, looking past Sam like he expected him to not be alone.  The vampire's expression softened and he smiled encouragingly, enveloping the mortal in a brief hug and kissing his cheek near the corner of his mouth as his arms wrapped around Gene's broad shoulders and gave an affectionate squeeze.  The undeniable scent of whiskey wafted around the mortal, telling Sam that he maybe wasn't all that sober but he was standing pretty straight and he smelled good beneath the aroma of alcohol anyway.  Almost as good as he looked.

"Hey, you," he breathed in Gene's ear before he pulled back to smile genuinely at him, his right hand trailing down the mortal's left arm to grasp his hand.  "I'm real glad to see you, it's been too long.  Come on, Dom's upstairs," he drawled with a tilt of his head, tugging on Gene's hand to lead him to the stairs, expecting he'd want to at least check in with his human friend (before they continued with some alone time to catch up).  He was surprised by how excited and comfortable he felt in Gene's presence - and not surprised that his thoughts were less than noble when looking at his beautiful face.  In his current mood, he knew it likely was a terrible idea that he be left alone with Gene but that same mood also made him want it even more.

While Sam had his eager reunion by the front door, Owen placed his order with the staff member Vincent had sent his way, before he returned to his sire's side and sat down once more.  His expression declared that he was impressed with Vincent's influence.  "Well, that was efficient!  Gives us more time to soak up the ambience.  Have you looked around much?  Were you here long before me?" he enquired breezily, doing his best to keep the conversation inane and harmless and also to steer clear of thinking about how nice it might be to be properly alone with Vincent.  He settled back into his former relaxed position, mostly facing his sire but looked pointedly around them now, noticing what was going on nearby.

Once the burning had cleared her throat and had settled nicely in her guts, she curtseyed at the singer and wiped off the rest of the salt off her hand. With a looser tongue and a bit more of some much needed liquid confidence, Levvy smiled and said, "I'm so glad you think so. I was trained by the best!" She thought of Sam just then and a small vein of loneliness ran through her like a trickle that she tried to ignore.

And then, as if someone had reached down and planted some tiny cherry on her night, Morgaine shifted her eyes and attention down the bar and flashed them back up at Levvy. The bartender followed her gaze and caught her ex-boss' eye. She recognized only after she had finished unabashedly squealing like a six-year-old girl that perhaps she should excuse herself from Morgaine's presense and not blow out anyone's eardrums.

"Enjoy that and holler when you want another, gorgeous," Levvy shouted animatedly over the music, making large strides towards Sam, throwing the bar towel she had just been wiping her hands with in the sink behind her. She ducked under the bar-gate and excitedly shuffled toward Sam like a kid at Christmas.

"Sam! Oh my god! I was hoping you were going to make it!" She threw her arms around her friend and hugged her before she could even get off her barstool. It had been a few weeks since she had even spoken to her ex-boss. They hadn't been able to connect for tennis, or drinks, or anything shortly after the mimic demons left. There was a lot of bullshitting and afraid vampires, and a lot of other things Levvy didn't fully get. There was even something about a shift in government - which had mattered very little to the human at first, but she came to realize that it not only provided her with a new vampire to wonder about and a new, higher-paying job that had come so far with a big party to help plan. Sam had been out of reach to her, and Levvy herself had been much busier than she ever was since she moved into the city. Not to mention there was this whole job-taking thing that Levvy still felt slightly awkward about. Despite all that, she was so happy to see her old friend. Seeing her brought a wave of excitement and pride to the blonde, who had learned pretty much everything under Sam's watchful eye. To be able to show Sam that now she could do it all herself made her feel just as warm as any liquor did.  If she didn't need to keep an eye on her staff, her customers, and the vampires all around her, Levvy would have hopped onto Sam's lap playfully. "Where's Jake? You didn't come alone, did you?"

"Are you kidding me. I wouldn't miss your big debut!" Sam managed to stay on top of the bar stool as she graciously accepted the hug from her friend; hugging Levinia tightly like Sam had found a long lost doll sitting at the bottom of her toy chest. She felt a little guilty that she hadn't contacted her friend after what had happened to explain what exactly went down. Levinia  was busy with the opening of Venture and she wouldn't have a chance to explain; at least not now. Tonight was all about Levinia and she wouldn't ruin the moment by talking about why she was fired.

"Ya I came by myself. I don't know where Jake is things have been a little hectic with everyone establishing their own districts in the city." Her voice sounded very lonely and the fact was she really missed Jake. It also made her think about how few friends she really had and she could literally count them on one hand.

"Oh! I got you something for your big night and to celebrate your new position." Sam reached for the medium sized present that laid in a dark blue velvet box. If it was any smaller you would have thought that Sam was proposing to Levinia. Within it was a necklace that had Levinia's name custom made in the old English cursive style; it was quite expensive plated in real sterling silver with her birthstone dotting the i's as she already knew when her birthday was because Sam had hired Levinia. Those stones were real, no fake shit anywhere near this necklace.

"I hope you like it. I just wanted to let you know there is no hard feelings. I recommended you before they gave me the boot and they even gave me VIP status at the club. Isn't that awesome I'll be here all the time." She knew that would make Levinia pleased and hopefully it would put the feelings of awkwardness at ease between the two of them.

Ben was about to excuse himself from Sebastian's company to approach Sam, to apologise or something - he didn't really know - but then someone he recognised approached Sam instead and kept Ben on his seat, averting his gaze.  Of course it made sense that donors would be invited to come tonight, but even though Ben had liked his little foray with (what was his name? Don or Dom or something like that), he didn't intend on anybody knowing about it or having the guy think that there might be a repeat.

"I never really considered it," he went on, hoping to keep Sebastian with him a little while longer, if only to give him an excuse to not look at Sam and Whats-his-face.  "I just found myself digging a hole, but I didn't go through with it.  It was a weird kind of... instinct, I guess.  I don't want to go to ground," he said firmly, and looked properly at Sebastian, seeing him for perhaps the first time.  The Ancient thing was still very overwhelming, and Ben found himself both wanting to be close to it and run away from it.  Beyond that, Sebastian was a good looking guy.  Jenna had taste, he supposed.  She was classy and intimidating, and perhaps that was why gentlemanly types with good looks chased after her.  She was much like Ben though, attracted to vampires.  He wondered what her motivation was for such a thing, and found himself wanting to ask Sebastian about her.  Such a thing wasn't exactly socially acceptable, he figured, so he remained silent and smiled, wondering if Sebastian would offer more to the conversation or excuse himself.  It was a pretty awkward talk between them anyway, he supposed.  Not exactly smooth.

Vincent lifted his hands in a surrender gesture, indicating it wasn't his influence that had provided a wait staff to serve him.

"If this kind of service keeps up, I'll certainly be paying for their new membership.  I thought a bit steep, initially," he admitted, for Venture was a great deal more pricey than Risk had been, considering the owners were the same - but now that he'd seen it, he could see where the money was going.  Well, some of it.  "But it looks to be a rather grand affair.  I've only seen downstairs.  I thought I would wait and see if you wanted to come on one of the tours with me, or perhaps look around upstairs together," he said.  No sooner was his invitation extended when their drinks arrived by the same staffer that took their order.  Vincent thanked him, taking the glass and watched as Owen did the same before the staffer moved on to serve the next seated person.  Impressive.  He looked to Owen for his answer as to where he wished to go next.

"They have tours of the place?" Owen asked, intrigued.  Truthfully, he hadn't paid too much attention to what was on offer here at the club, he'd just been worried about how things might go with Vincent, getting himself engulfed with nerves over what they'd talk about and never giving a thought to what Venture itself would be like.  Now that his fears about his sire could be put to rest, he could concentrate on what mattered.  "Let's do that!  Where do we go?" the fledgling asked, taking a gulping mouthful of blood as he looked around - possibly for a sign saying something along the lines of, 'Tour starts here'.

Since the elevator ride of humiliation with Sam all those months ago, Gene had boarded an emotional roller coaster ride that didn't seem like it'd ever end. He'd saved his best friend's life, found out the man he'd called his dad hadn't been his biological father, and that his mom was selling the farm he'd grown up on. And all the while, he'd been doing his damned best to squash the feelings for the very man who led him upstairs. Because Sam wanted to try things out with Vomas. The Oligarch-turned-District Leader, Vomas. Scary intimidating, better than him Vomas. Who... wasn't there, but Sam was and he'd hugged him and now had his hand and Goddamn it all to Hell, he could feel every nerve in his calloused fingers tingling, traversing a path up his arm, across his shoulder and settling at the base of his neck, making the small hairs there stand on end.

Gene shook his head, trying valiantly to kick his brain back into motion, but it only made it slosh around in his skull. He'd been midway through a whiskey binge when Dominic - who he was being led to - had called and invited him there in the first place. When they crested the stairs, he spotted the big man immediately and he focused on him, his star-struck look gradually turning into one of accusation as he took in his friend's self-satisfied expression. It had been his doing, then.  Sam hadn't come for him on his own.

"I take it y'all met up earlier," he said when they drew close, his normally cheerful tones subdued.

He reluctantly withdrew his fingers from Sam's, and rubbed his hand on the sides of his jeans. The feeling - that marvelous tingling - didn't go away, though, so he continued scrubbing at the worn fabric as he looked between them.

Back on the main level, Vomas tore his eyes off the stairway and made himself concentrate on Conner.

"Yes, it will be," he said, and then took another sip from his drink - giving himself another precious moment to stuff the image of Sam with Gene into a box at the back of his mind. To Conner, it might seem like he was buying time so that he might find a tactful way to answer his allusively asked questions, but that was better than the reality. There would be those who would take advantage of the fact that there was trouble brewing between him and Sam, especially if it came to light that he could be distracted by it.

Another sip of blood and some of the tightness around his eyes and mouth faded.

"The idea is to provide everything that might be needed for... our kind, as you put it; sustenance, shelter, entertainment and relaxation. With discretion and security being our primary concern, of course." Despite his best efforts, his thoughts went back to Sam and Gene, and he wondered what what they were doing upstairs. Were they in the feeding rooms? Recognizing a growing need to crack his knuckles or fidget with something, his hand slid from its resting position near the base of the glass he'd been drinking from to his lap, where it joined the other.

After clearing his throat, he continued, "I wanted to invite you to the hotel, so you might see all we have done in preparation. Any time this week would be ideal, for we will open our doors the following weekend."

Sebastian kept his gaze on Ben as the fledgling glanced around, watching him with interest. He’d been such a different person when he’d been that age – he could only imagine all of the trouble he might have got into without Irene to stop him. Not intentional trouble, but he’d been reckless, acting without thinking at times. Like when he’d got himself killed. Twice.

And here was Ben, admitting to acting without really thinking about it. Going instinctively to the safety the healing ground was supposed to offer. But nowadays even that wasn’t safe – with so many new buildings and new developments. That had been one of Seb’s concerns when he’d buried himself, that he might get dug up.

“Where were you digging?” he asked out of curiosity, and also the answer might show that Ben had put more thought into it that he was admitting to if it was somewhere sensible.
