He opened his mouth to respond to the ex-Luminary and shut it just as the younger vampire whisked himself away. Amused and puzzled, Pierre allowed Kerr to leave without much of a reaction. Pierre did, however, let his eyes trail after the ex-Luminary to see what exactly was so wrong with Ben. Lover drama, he resigned himself and turned his attentions back to the intimate group. Turning back to the new District Leader of the South "Yes, well, I suspect that our paths will be crossing significantly more now," Pierre smiled that charming smile which came so naturally to him. Had the District Leader been McCloud, Zoheret, or anyone else, Pierre's smile would be courteous, controlled, tight. With Sabrina, who besides her strange appearance, seemed much more approachable - and humble - than many of the other District Leaders - he could easily envision productive and fair conversations about the needs of the Family.
The hustle and bustle of the party moved swiftly around him and when Sabrina's attention was turned elsewhere, his daughter had asked him about his transgression behind her back, his kiss blown to Lisa-Joe. Sheepishly, he tried to come up with something that would satisfy her curiosity while maintaining the facade that he hadn't tried to bed the McCloud's number one fan. Just as he wet his lips to respond, a different voice did it for him.
"Lisa-Joe? She works for Jake McCloud."
His open mouth closed into a sly grin that he never meant for Jenella to see - but of course she did. "Nothing you have to worry about, beautiful." Had he been human, his ears and cheeks would have tinted pink. No, he hadn't told her of his drunken escapades, or even his break up with Ceci - which he had forgotten about completely until he put himself on the spot before Jenella's eyes. When his daughter had gone to Italy, Pierre and Ceci were still solidly together. Somehow, it had slipped his mind to let her know that he had Jake McCloud's right hand woman knee-banging his groin. "Just a wasted opportunity, that's all."

Damien was intimately acquainted with the word of Christ, the Bible, and all of the Good Books which led to the founding of his existence as an Christian. As such he was certainly familiar with the tale of Cain and Abel. Yet his understanding of Sam's teachings remained unclear, confusing.
He knew the legends, of course. Some of his kind believed that they were descendents of Cain, and that their curse of immortality was based on the sin of fratricide. A farce, in Damien's opinion, no different than believing in a Creator, benevolent or otherwise. It had been a long time since Damien had taken anything in the Bible to be as truth, especially after his Turning. So the older vampire said nothing, contributed nothing but a cautious ear to watch the conversation turn as it would. He eyes flicked over onto Pierre and Janella standing near a quickly-moving Kerr Galvin - why was that man always in a rush?
"Not in so many words," Damien answered softly to Sam's last question, trying now to understand the differences between his own approach to immortality and that of so many others. He suspected that Fortitude was a mental sort of strength that allowed the user to not be penetrated mentally, or something to do with stamina. Why it needed a specific name, he couldn't quite say yet.
