"First, roller coaster, then Ferris Wheel," Jake informed. He wouldn't stretch this out too much. He could tell Ben was excited for whatever Jake's surprise was, and Ben was smart enough that Jake had a sneaking suspicion he knew what tonight was all about. He would move to the line for the coaster, a light use of his Presence discipline convincing the others Ben and Jake should really get to go first. Once on, the creaky, old wooden roller coaster climbed the first hill. Jake took Ben's hand right as they got to the top, the moonlight bathing them in silver. In the distance a wolf could be heard howling.
They plunged, and Jake honestly had fun on the ride. Roller coasters weren't something he had growing up, but he found he liked the thrill, controlled danger, and unexpected turns of some of the better ones. Ben would see the more child-like Jake that seemed to come out at times; silly, fun and not nearly as assertive or dominant as Jake in other environments. Once the finished, Jake bought the stupid picture, whether or not he had plans to put it somewhere wouldn't be clear. Once they were done with the coaster, as promised, he took them to the Ferris Wheel. Jake had Ben hang back while he spoke to the ride operator, and a flash of green was exchanged.
Once inside the little sphere made of glass, they began their assent into the night sky. Right as they reached the very tip top, the wheel stopped.
"We are experiencing some minor technical difficulties and will be moving shortly. Thank you for your patience!"
The loud speaker announcement was a cover of course. The wheel had stopped because Jake paid for it to stop. Now totally alone, and due to the lights of the wheel going off, completely unseen Jake slipped an arm around Ben.
"I told him I was proposing," he said to Ben. "In some ways I am. I'd like to move ahead of schedule and... I want you to drink from me." He waited for Ben to respond.
