Aislin maintained her frowning expression as she scrolled through a list of the city’s hostels. Her focus lifted, settling upon Mitri as his apology came. She smoothed her features in time with the forming of a small smile, then said, “It’s alright. I mean, I don’t expect you to share your financial troubles with just anyone – but, you know, you could have, like, vaguely let on that money was tight. We could have found something else to do together. Something free. Or, at the very least, you could have let me share the cost of the room.” Her eyes widened as she paused, then carried on a with an animated, “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to lecture you! I just,” she gestured vaguely, “feel bad.”
After thrusting her phone into his hands with a muttered, “Here,” she maneuvered around to stand at his side, to swipe at the on-screen options with the pad of her index finger. “I’ve arranged them by price, low to high. Looks like the cheapest is fifteen a night, but it’s a little bit out of the city. Downtown your cheapest options are going to be in the thirty to forty dollar range, even at a hostel. I’m willing to drive a-ways if that’s what you want. It’s the least I can do.”
