There was all laughing, laughing, LAUGHING as Lisa-Joe faltered. The tension in his tongue released and whatever had climbed up his throat absorbed, like osmosis, back into the lining of his trachea. His windpipe ached and the alarms in his head were still blaring, but the pain and the building mucus in his mouth were at an end. Nikolai swallowed painfully, nodding, his throat on fire but at the very least clear.

He took a few gasping (unnecessary) breaths, fighting the temptation to cough up the blood he just consumed. With bloodied lips and a dangerous expression, Nikolai looked up at Lisa-Joe and said with a overtone of exhaustion, "You have no idea what you're dealing with."

"Well Sugah," she said, more calm now that he wasn't dying, "I intend to find out anyways."

With that, she was true to her word and undid his handcuffs. She took several steps back, and glanced him over. He didn't look too bad anymore. She'd managed to put him back together. His shoulder still didn't look quite right, but it wasn't overly noticeable. She would let him go. It was clear whatever that thing was, it wasn't going to give up its hold on Nikolai so easily. Her computer beeped. She walked over, but would not let Nikolai leave just yet if he tried. She sat at her computer.

Before her was a recently updated criminal database, courtesy of their recent alliance with Damien Evans. Eastwood Disciples. Prostitution. No picture, but also connections to the city's coke trade. He'd needed a bump. This name made a lot more sense than David. Had that gang of malcontents she'd met at Stick's and Stakes been the Eastwood Disciples?

She looked up from her computer. "Come back soon if you need any more help. The Keeper of Elysium in particular should meet you, or you both," she said, alluding to whatever had choked him.

He stood immediately when he was released, trying to flee from her, only to be met with her hesitations. Reluctantly he turned to face her with a glare, both embarrassed and full of rage that she had gotten so much out of him, but not wishing to get harmed again. The laughing and hissing in his head was up at a roar again and as he waited for her to respond and release him, only one thought came to mind.

Kill her.

But it was Nikolai who was in control for now, though Judas pushed and pushed at the edges of his eyes. There would be no coming back if the other got free in front of Lisa-Joe. Nikolai held on to his sanity as hard as he could. At her parting word, he gave her a growl and threw the door open with his good arm, dashing out into the night to walk the rest of the way to Vincent's house.

Once she was sure he was gone, she typed out an instant message to Benny, a click clack of her nails the only sound now in the office.

I need a 12 hour 5-5 on Nikolai Armani. He just left. Report all useful data to the sheriff and me.

A few minutes passed and Lisa-Joe received a report.

Agent has been deployed.

She smiled and turned off her monitor. There was always a way to get the information she needed. Nikolai was just playing hard to get.
