open, but must be a reporter. Press passes checked at the door
Lisa-Joe was happy Jake had chosen her to give the first new press conference. It had been a campaign promise she wasn't sure about, the press not being the best friend of Jake's first tenure as District Leader. However, she saw the opportunity to correct some inaccuracies, and to share their plans for the future. It all felt too dangerous, like a Masquerade breach waiting to happen. She still expected the hunters to burst through the door, slinging fire and arrows. However, in this city, it seemed unlikely that they would, especially after the Sacrament did Jake's work for him. Drew had been a worthwhile investment, but not even she knew how he convinced a family of ancients to get up off their assess and actually do something.
With the facility gone, Lisa-Joe felt optimistic enough to hold these press conferences. The rules were simple, no recording equipment of any kind, only notepads and other writing utensils. She exited her apartment in the Warrens below, and headed towards the elevator. She'd gone with a variation on her devil woman look, her red paint suit and matching glasses making her hair even more fiery than normal. She entered the elevator wondering which newspapers would send people. The invite had been for all press organizations, so she expected a wide group.
She exited the lift and went to greet the assembled gaggle of reporters. The bar was closed for the first two hours of the night to allow Lisa-Joe time to do the briefing and then properly open the space. A podium had been placed for her to stand, and so she did, placing a binder of information on it. She greeted the group.
"Good Evening," she said, "and welcome to the Central Districts first weekly press briefing. I'm Lisa-Joe Hampton, Harpy. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the position, think press secretary and Attorney General rolled into one. Now, I will take questions one at a time. If you steal another reporter's question you will forfiet the opportunity to ask one for yourself. Be considerate. Now, who would like to go first?"
The room erupted into shouting, with each reporter trying to catch her eye. She scanned the room, looking for the person she wanted to call on.
