Mia smiled and relaxed as his hand moved around her waist and she stepped closer, her eyes shutting briefly as he kissed her temple. This, she liked; the friendly kisses and secure arm around her and the fact that she knew he wouldn’t press her into anything else.

“It’s fine, we’re fine until you do,” she said in reply to his assurance that he would get them help. She had lived her whole life without help and really she felt awkward having people waiting on her. With Lewis and Irene it had been different, they had been friends and she had helped them - when Dagger hadn’t been watching - so it hadn’t felt like they were servants. But having strangers come in to serve her, Dagger and Jem, that would be strange. She felt bad having servants around in other people’s homes and didn’t doubt she would feel worse having them here. But it was what was expected and she knew she had to accept that.

“I’d like that,” Mia said, perking up at his suggestion and she slipped her hand into his as they headed towards the lounge. She loved these times together and savoured the effort it took her. When he corrected her she took it well, nodding and making a mental note. Her only complaint was that they didn’t have long enough for her liking, since she knew Jem would wake up before long and demand attention which she would happily give him.
