Quinn nodded, not finding the courage to raise his gaze from the condensation on the half-empty water glass. "Oh I know the feeling." Everyone was trying to save Jerry - except Jerry. He had watched time and time again how Malakai, Zachariah, and even Thor all tried to take him off simple paths towards self-destruction all throughout his not-relationship with the vampire. Hell, even Quinn had made his little attempts to open Jerry up to better options - not just relationships, but experiences, social times, even new ways of thinking. Every offer or suggestion of growth was met with a shrug, a sigh, and a nonsense reply. It were as if he enjoyed his stagnation.
An eternal life of stagnating. No, thank you.
"I mean, I've seen some of that good, so I know it's there somewhere. And I even get the whole," Quinn squirmed a bit in his seat, not really wanting to talk about it with Mal - not when things were going so well... "screwing around thing." Was that how he felt? That Jerry had been screwing around on him with other people? Well that needs to be unpacked later, he decided bitterly. "He's not a... one-partner person. And he doesn't want a relationship... like, that I get." He wished he had something to fidget with, playing instead with the droplets of water on the outside of the glass. No, he actually didn't get it, but he was sure as hell trying to. "Like, I knew that going in," he admitted, not looking at Mal. Where the fuck was his point again? "I just also never expected to get so... attached. Like, he fucked my boss, Mal, after letting me know that he wasn't interested in... I heard about it from Freddy one night while I was working because he was bragging about it in front of everyone. Like who the fuck does that to a friend?"
