ALTERNATE: Dreams of Glass

Ben parked his bomb of a car in a vacant lot in the warehouse district. There were a few cars already there, all much nicer than his own though he loved his Dodge Charger, a classic.

Young, mortal and blonde, he had no chance of hearing the music that poured out of Club Zero, or the slapping sounds of flesh hitting flesh in the fighting arena - not that he knew about that part. Somebody had told him that vampires met there and it could be a place he was allowed in. The nightclub called Venture had goons at the door who'd refused to let him in. He'd told them that he knew the truth, that he could go in there, and they'd rebuffed him with very little said and eventually 'get lost' had turned into a threat. Ben had left, grumbling.

Now he'd got wind of this new place and it didn't look as secure as Venture because it was just a warehouse. He saw two people walking ahead of him and they dawdled in front of the warehouse door up ahead. Music suddenly echoed up the street, a strong dancing beat, and then they stepped inside. Ben heard the door shut behind them, the music that had flowed out into the street became muffled once more.

He stepped up to the door. No bouncer. No signage. No... handle? Confused, he knocked on the door. Nothing. He pushed on it. Even more nothing. How the hell? Maybe there was another way in. He walked along the building and then moved up the very narrow alleyway along its side. He couldn't hear any music on this side, but there was an odd noise, like the sound of sheets flapping on a washing line. Looking around he couldn't see anything that could have made a noise like that. Even weirder.

His heart thumping in his chest now because he was lurking in a dark alley around a strange warehouse in a bad neighbourhood and was on his own. Probably not the smartest move. But at least he was alone.

Belatedly he realised he wasn't alone.

He was bored, so very bored. The air flowed over and around him as he glided through the night sky, the stars twinkling above him mirroring the ugly city lights below. The club wasn't far now, the mystical energy of its barrier spell called and pulled him, guiding him to its location. He was about to tuck and land when he spotted him, the pretty blond, standing alone in the back ally. Was he lost?

Suddenly curious he folded his wings and lighted behind him with barely a sound from his disappearing wings.

He came dressed for trouble, tight black leather pants, black boots, and an open v neck sleeveless vest shirt. His hair as always fell around his shoulders in a silken, satiny mess.

"This isn't exactly the best place to be on your own." He said in way of a greeting. His voice was light, soft and friendly but it still carried in the magically dampened silent street as he approached the blond, young and very human mortal.

Ben turned to look at the man who hadn't been behind him just a second ago. There'd been an odd sound from somewhere above him and certainly no footsteps that he'd heard. He looked down at the other's shoes, expecting sneakers, but he was pretty sure he saw boots. It was hard to see any details, there was only one light back here and Ben was standing in it, casting everything else in darkness outside the circle. The moon was really slim tonight, barely more than a sliver.

The other guy's face was mostly in shadow. He had a nice voice, nothing that made Ben feel like the guy was hostile even though his words were pretty challenging.

"I'm not on my own," Ben lied, his survival instinct kicking in. His heartrate picked up, more out of fear than anything else, but as the other man continued to draw closer with soft steps, he entered the tiny circle of light cast by the security lamp bolted high on the back warehouse wall. Ben's heart skipped along even faster as he finally got a look at the stranger. His eyes widened slightly, unable to tear away from the other's face. Tingling raced down his spine and a fluttering sensation entered Ben's belly. The stranger was incredibly attractive, as though he'd stepped straight out of Ben's fantasy into reality. "I, um, the car is parking. I mean my friend is parking. He, um..."

He doesn't exist and I really hope you're not a creep
Because oh my god

Saraekiel tilted his head slightly, allowing what light there was to illuminate his face even more as he smiled. His nervousness was sweet as was his fear but neither was conductive to any lasting fun and the lad was pretty.

"Good, I'm glad" He lied as he flicked his gaze to the end of the all for his companion. It was hard to tell but he hoped the lads nervousness was caused by lying rather than from being in a dark ally with a stranger,

"The entrance to the club is back this way." He indicated back towards the way Ben had come with a nod of his head. "We can wait for them together if you like." His brow furrowed slightly, This was the club, but maybe the human was lost and was actually here for some other reason "You are going to the club right?" He flicked his gaze over Ben, using the excuse of guessing an answer by the way Ben was dressed as an excuse to thoroughly check him out.

Ben blushed, both because he was caught in his stupid lie and the look of the stranger as he was being checked out. Was he being checked out or was that wishful thinking?

He had knock-off tan Docs on his feet, dark blue jeans that were tidy instead of scuffed and a white button-up long-sleeved shirt with pale blue squiggles down one side that matched his eyes. He'd tried to make himself as appealing as possible but his wardrobe was limited.

"Yeah, I'm trying to get into the club," he said, embarrassed by the idea of waiting for a non-existant 'friend'. He would have to own up sooner rather than later, but maybe he would do it once he was inside, just in case he upset the other guy. "I'm Ben," he said, supplying his name and hoping the greeting would be returned.

He made himself walk the two steps that closed him into the sexy newcomer, even though his heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest. His mouth became dry and he licked his lips to wet them then felt like he was being weird and obvious so forced himself to look away. His eyes returned to the other guy seemingly of their own volition, drawn to the beautiful stranger's appearance.

This guy probably had men and women falling over themselves to get close to him. Ben felt inadequate at the thought, deciding that what he'd initially thought of being 'checked out' was actually more of an 'assessment' to see if Ben was worthy of getting into the club.

Yeah, that made more sense, though it was a little more disappointing than the hope of his being interesting to the other.

Saraekiel felt what little tension he had ease out of him when Ben affirmed he was going to the club too. It had been a long time since the dark angel had chosen to do something that was just fun and agenda free, and Club Zero was the perfect place for supes to hang out, let lose and just be.

Ben's clothing was perfect, modest, smart and non flashy. It's simplicity would make him the center of attention in a club designed for the flashy and ostentatious and Saraekiel intended to claim him all for himself. What little light there was helped to illuminate Ben more as he stepped in closer to Saraekiel, highlighting his sharp cheekbones and catching the blue of his eyes as he looked up into Saraeliel's face. Sublime How amazing would those eyes look as he looked back at him with his lips wrapped around his cock?

As Ben licked his lips and turned away Saraekiel's own eyes dilated with his aroused interest. How long had it been since he had been with someone just for their company, for pleasure, without worrying if they had a dagger for his back.

"Hi Ben." He shook his hand, his clasp firm and a little long on the required hold time before the release. " I'm Saraekiel" He took a step back although what he really wanted to do was step closer.

"Let's get you into the club then." He took his time leading Ben back towards the entrance, keeping close to the humans side. " So this friend of yours, you said he. is he a friend? Boyfriend? or something else?"

His hand felt electric where they were touching and he didn't want to let go. "Saraekiel," he repeated softly, liking the way it felt in his mouth. His hold lingered perhaps a bit too long before he dropped it, smiling and then looking away shyly when it got too intense. Usually he could hold a stare but this guy was... too much.

"Um, I have a confession," Ben said, laughter tinging his words though he didn't feel terribly amused. He started walking back around the building, looking at Saraekiel and wanting to walk side by side with him. He felt oddly flighty and nervous, like he'd been transported back to high school. Christ, it had been three years since he'd left. "I thought you were a mugger so I kind of... made up a friend."

He hoped Saraekiel would be amused rather than think he was a wierdo.

He chuckled with amusement at the confession and leaned his head down confessionally towards Ben "Firstly, totally not a mugger and secondly, perfect" He said with a pleased smile, turning his face towards Ben as they approached the door. He wanted to place his arm across the man's shoulder but figured that might be a little possessive and weird since they only just met, or would it be acceptable by human standards? Their emotions were easy to pick up, inflame and manipulate, but understanding the entirety of their deeper nuances, their cultural rules and social boundaries was more oft then not a game of hit and miss.

"I would have done the same thing"

He stood before the closed door and looked at it thoughtfully, normally he would have summoned a little bit of flame or flashed his wings for the hidden sentries/ bouncers to gain entry but...he glanced sideways at his companion and decided to remove the glamour from his eyes instead. He raked his softly glowing eyes over the door until it slid open and he led Ben inside turning towards him within the darkened foyer as they were checked for listening and recording devices and any questioned about any magical artifacts they might be caring.

The music from the club, although still muffled by the inner doors, surrounded and beat against them as he leaned in towards Ben once more, his lips mere inches from his skin. "You do know about this place and what you are going to find once we pass those doors right?" he asked softly as he handed over his phone and indicated the second set of doors before them. His weapons were safely tucked away at home as he didn't think he would need them this night.

Ben was astonished when the door opened before him and Saraekiel without even the need to knock. He missed the glowing eyes, too busy staring at the door and anticipating a request for a password or something. When they stepped inside and Saraekiel asked his question, Ben nodded.

"I know the truth," he said loftily, pretending to be confident and thinking of vampires and anticipating this was that kind of club. He expected that this place would have a bunch of people being drunk from and that he would see the real deal. His heartbeat started hammering again at the thought of it and Saraekiel would be able to feel the flush that heated Ben's body even more so.

He looked at Saraekiel, excited about entering the club itself and moreso making an entrance with a super hot guy. He couldn't stop smiling. The thudding of the music was expected but the squeals of glee weren't. Maybe tonight was some special kind of night? He couldn't wait.

He smiled again at Ben's response, pleased by the excitement he was picking up from him, which in turn fed his own. He didn't come here very often, running an illegal weapons import-export business didn't leave much free time; it certainly didn't allow free time where he didn't have to constantly look over his shoulder, but business had been slow and quiet as of late and he had become bored. Club Zero's back room-fight club held no interest for him whatsoever, watching lesser creatures pummeling the crap out of each other held as much appeal as pulling wings off of flies. It was beyond common and totally beneath him, but the other part of the club; the front of house where everyone of the supernatural variety were allowed to just be, and be themselves, in a city that demanded they constantly hide themselves, was refreshing and liberating in the extreme. Especially when it didn't come with the expected price tag of having some crypt worm driving its fangs into you.

"Well lets go then" His smile was broad and filled with excitement. Ben may have been human but he was gorgeous, and came without hassles, was someone who he didn't have to guard against or hopefully, keep his walls up with.

The music pulled at him, the energy coming from behind the still closed doors even more so, and what in all the world were those squeals about?

He hooked his arm around Bens and led him through the doors. As soon as he stepped across the inner thresh hold his glamour was stripped from him, revealing his wings, his eyes and everything else. The club was very dimly lit, enough light to make out where you were going, where the bar was, the dance floor and direction of the raised seating area. What illuminated the club however was the glow and coloure's of the creatures that moved and danced within, shifting neon lights, shimmering beneath and over skin and hair, glowing eyes peering out at you from the shadows, flash of fang or claw and across the room, talking to what appeared to be a person guarding a door beside the bar was a woman with a head full of slithering, writhing, hissing, glowing eyed snakes for hair.

Saraekiel turned to Ben, his own elemental fire shimmering over and under his skin, his hair and playing peek-a-boo from amoungst his feathers, in every colour a flame could imaginably be.

"Welcome to the club. You want to go get a drink?"

At first Ben could only make out the coloured lights and glowing shapes of people. Then he saw details that had him staring, wide-eyed and struck dumb by what he saw. This wasn't just a vampire club. This was a lot more than that.

He turned to Saraekiel, to say what he no longer knew because when he faced the gorgeous man that he'd initially suspected of being a vampire, he saw that he was far from the truth. So far that instead of fangs this guy had wings. Proper black feathery wings, not the batty kind. Ben was both enchanted and intimidated, overwhelmed and fascinated. Words completely left him, especially when colours rippled across his eyes and skin.

Ben felt weak-kneed. He needed to sit down. A drink sounded like a bad idea but he accepted with a nod anyway. He took Saraekiel's hand because he needed the support, not realising that he was squeezing it so tightly.

Saraekiel's eyes widened slightly in response to Ben's reaction, he had asked if he knew what the club was, going by his wide eyes and death grip, this was not what he had expected or imagined he was walking into. Saraekiel looked around at all the creatures around him, reveling in the freedom offered, in the acceptance of who and what they were that the club gave them and smiled. The living light show was gaudy and ostentatious but it too was apart of letting go.

He placed his arm across Ben's shoulder, offering him support and a smile of understanding as he cloaked his wings once more in glamour. It was a struggle as the clubs magic was to reveal, but that too was a gift and ultimately the patrons choice. His wings vanished as if they had never been, but the flames remained as he made their way towards the bar.

He picked a spot for them close to the wall but as far away from the gorgon as possible. he smiled at the bar tender, an imp going by the wings, tail and blue patterns of electricity running over its body and called him over with a small wave of his hand and a wiggle of his fingers.

"What is your preferred choice of poison Ben?"

Ben hadn't noticed the wings were gone as he walked through the club. He was glad for the stool and settled upon it, finally releasing Saraekiel. His gaze returned to the handsome golden stranger and he was shocked when he couldn't see the wings anymore. What had happened to them? Were they invisible now? Ben's hand twitched, betraying his desire to reach out for them and see if he could still touch them - but he didn't dare.

The question took him a couple of beats to process and respond to. "Um. Whiskey?" he asked, never having had the stuff but knowing it was something to drink when a person wanted 'a stiff one'. His gaze moved from where the wings weren't to Saraekiel's face and he found himself locked in eye contact once more.

He is really hot
What the hell am I doing here
This is not a vampire club
and he is not a vampire but
damn he is hot

He smiled, feeling daft.

He noticed the glances at his wingless back and squirmed slightly in his seat. He had glamoured them in the hopes of making Ben feel more comfortable with him and his surroundings, had he eared? people were either fascinated by them, intimidated or even repulsed and he found himself oddly curious as to what reaction Ben had

His eyebrow lifted at the drink request, whiskey not being what he expected to be asked for, but pleased that it was, being as it was also his drink of choice.

"Two whiskey's then, neat." he said to the imp behind the bar. "The good stuff, aged." There was nothing worse then having your throat burned out by cheap and nasty firewater.

He turned and caught Ben looking at him and smiled in return. His interest piquing his own in return.

"So, this wasn't exactly what you expected I take it?" Am I what you expected

"I thought you might've been, well, I was wrong but I thought..." Ben shook his head, blushed, and tried again. Normally he could speak really well regardless of how he was feeling on the inside, but Saraekiel had unravelled all of that. Ben licked his lips and thought about what he'd meant to say.

"Vampires. I came here looking for them after I couldn't get into Venture. I thought this was another bite club but its... got more." Lots more, he thought as he looked at the bartender's tail. A quick glance around showed him horns and cloven feet and people with uncommon skin colours and full-on beasty looking creatures. To be honest, he couldn't see anyone that suited the vampire description, but there were certainly a lot of hanger-onners; people who looked like regular people hanging off the arms of those who looked different. Humans liked getting it on with other species, it seemed.

Ben glanced again at Saraekiel and coughed gently into a fist. Eheh.
