"Yeah," Ben said, throwing Sam a pensive look as she spoke to him like an instructor instead of a friend. Perhaps their time apart had made things awkward, or perhaps her role as a lecturer that was taking up all her time had consumed her in such a way that explaining things was now second nature to her instead of just chatting. Whatever it was, Ben struggled for something to say. "Acoustic. That's right."

"The acoustic has a nice sound," bobbing her head once in a thoughtful manner. "We should play together sometime. We could dress up. I think it would be a fun time." She said, grinning ear to ear. Sam didn't get the chance to perform with others anymore. Playing solo, which she still enjoyed, didn't have the same degree of satisfaction as playing with a buddy.

He was about to ask her if she normally dressed up, his thoughts straying to formal wear and then since they were dressed up they could have someplace to go, and since they had instruments maybe they could perform for others, but at some kind of private venue... and then he got an idea. Not that he would get up and play the few chords he knew in front of people because he didn't consider himself good enough, but if Sam had studied the clarinet for longer, she was likely really good at it.

"You could perform at Luminescent one night," he suggested, excitement leaking into his voice. "It's very low key. We play canned music at a low volume usually but there's a space for a musician to sit and the room is designed for the acoustics to travel out from that point to everywhere else in the room."

He stopped talking when he realised that his enthusiasm might not be shared, but it felt like a very Sam thing to do when he was saying it because she was often full of surprises with the things she did and knew.

Sam clasped her hands upwards together, steeping her fingers under her nose with eyes twinkling in titillation as Ben proposed the idea.

"Can I?!" She exclaimed, slapping her hands down against her thighs. "I'd love that! Would you be comfortable playing at least one musical piece with me?" Sam did not notice her voice falling and rising with enthusiasm, the idea of performing again gripped her in a whirlwind of passion.

Performing with Ben would be a wonderful experience, but if Ben didn't feel comfortable, just the idea of performing at the Luminescent made Sam ecstatic.
