The Great War

Just a little something I wrote in ten minutes to give a little detail into one of my pending character back grounds. Comments or critiquing are welcomed; altough grammar, spelling, and punctuation is not necessary because it was a ten minute rough draft.

The Great War...

"Soon they will come you know," stated General Kalin.
Azij stood nearby, staring down at the battlemaps before him and the three other generals, "Should we really be worried? They seem to be fairly outnumbered here, and here."
As Azij pointed out the places upon the maps the other generals looked with interested and made several comments upon the statement. What Azij had said was true, the elves and the humans had their weakpoints, but the main force marching upon the Draconians was a huge force that none of them wanted to face head on.
   "Any ideas?" Azij asked.
"I say we devide our forces, take most of the first and second battalions after the elves here," General Kalin proposed as he pointed to a weaker elven section, "And then take the sixth and seventh battalions over here and attack the human flank while what remains stays here with you Azij - in hopes of taking the main forces."
Azij nodded to himself and ran his fingers along the hilt of his sword, "It seems a reasonable plan."
Indeed it did, the human flank would be weak. The humans were not known to be good fighters, but their mages were exceptional at times, and if it was possible to break the lines there the Draconians could get behind them and it could change the tides of the battle. The elves on the other hand, were good fighters, but had little in defensive areas around their flanks which could be a set-up in hopes of drawing the Draconians into the battle their where they could easily be ambushed along the forest line.
Azij didn\'t need to think any longer, the battle would be upon them and he had made his decision, "You will indeed take the men and attack the human flank, but I would rather see General Akah take his men around even farther away from the elven main force and attack hard on the far flank in hopes of breaking through, from there you will harass the enemies backside and hopefully switch their paths."
   The generals nodded their approval.
"Prepare the men, and move out, take divisions at a time to take a bit of the suspicion away, and move them around back behind the hills. If we can suprise them, wonderful, if not - to bad."

Three hours later the battle was nearing. The humans and elves had lined up in their bright armor and fancy formations. The Draconians had no such things among their men. Formations were to be broken, armor to slow you down, and the Draconians were fierce warriors, they would tear apart these humans and elves with everything they had.
The humans and elves advanced, the Draconians held firm.
"When they come within range, I want you to unleash hell Captain," Azij told lieutenant Bashir.
The Lieutenant nodded and passed on his orders, and five minutes later as the formations of the self-righteous humans and elves marched closer, the Draconians unleashed their powerful seige weapons; giant balls of flame flew through the air crashing and rolling into the midst of the oncoming horde of humans and elves, bursting into rows of flames. The humans and elves began to scatter - Azij smiled.
"Go, signal the charge. They will die here and now!" he yelled.
As the Draconians charged into battle, towering over the humans and elves chaos broke out. The humans and elves, wary of the fire attempted to flee, but more of the catapults launched deep into their lines; the Draconians, with barbaric fighting tactics, and little fear for death and a good resistance to heat, ran rampant through the lines, cutting down everyone and everything in sight.
The battle was going well for them.
Azij, ridding a Rijzak, a large four-legged lizard, waded into battle as well, "Kill them all!" He screamed.
   Everyone was dying...
The Elves, pretty as they were, good fighters as they had been, died.
Humans, numerous and capable of swarming over the other armies, fled and died.
   The Draconians...they killed...and they died.
Azij upon his Rijzak shouted orders as he tore apart human and elf alike. His blade cut down, his blade cut high, taking limbs, heads, and appendages, as well as inflicting mortal wounds upon those in his path. His free hand, held out infront of him, released magical enery in the form of lightning, bursting forth from his hand in a thunderclap loud enough to deafen the elves who had great ears, and loud enough to disorientate the humans - but only enough to send the Draconian into a blind rage and fury that proved only that much more fatal for the enemy.
The light crashed into the chest of an elven mage who had been attempting to put out the fires, and as the bolt of lighting hit, he was sent flying backwards nearly twenty feet before he hit the ground and rolled. The lightning had not only struck him, but had forked off in other directions as it travelled, hitting random humans, elves, and draconian as it flew along its path, proving fatal for all of those it came in contactwith.
Azij growled as arrows pierced the skin of his Rijzak and killed the beast; he was forced to take to foot. Hefting his weapon which had already taken countless lives, he cut down another human who was trying to flee before he sidestepped a swing from an elf who he soon decapitated.
   The battle raged on...
"General Azij!" The lieutenant Bashir shouted from behind him.
"What is it lieutenant?" Azij asked as he turned to face him.
"General Kalin has been overwhelmed and is falling back, General Akah is dead from what I\'ve heard, as are most of his men."
Azij growled and cursed vehemently, "Signal a retreat. This battle is over."

The Draconians retreated that day. They had lost many men, but reports came in that the elves and humans had lost a far greater number, but the odds were less staggering for them as they were far easier to replace. General Azij had pulled his men back and would be sending them out in small raiding parties to harass the enemies. These tactics would prove greatly efficient in hampering the enemies forces, but the tide of the war had already be chosen, the Draconians were destined to lose.
