Bill (William) King
« on: August 03, 2012, 10:22:23 AM »
Name:  William "Bill" King
Age [appearance]: Late Teens/Early Adulthood
Age [actual]: Nineteen
Gender: Male
Species: Human

Hair: Black, sometimes with dyed blonde streaks. Usually spiked out with an obscene amount of hairspray at night when he goes out, while straightened during the day or when lounging at home. He has naturally straight hair, with a slight curl as it reaches his shoulders.

Eyes: Brown, ranging from golden-brown to russet, depending on the lighting.

Frame: Somewhat tall and lanky at 5'11, he has long legs and a thin body. His chest is somewhat cylindrical in shape, ribs protruding slightly due to his low weight of 146 lbs. He doesn't have a lot of muscle, having never needed to build any up. He tends to aim for a lower body weight and a thinner frame, though he sometimes wishes he had a little more muscle, especially with how easily it is to manhandle him.

Tattoos/Distinguishing Marks: Piercing on his right eyebrow. Pierced tongue. Tattoo of three concentric stars on his right inner hip to represent him, his brother, and their bond to each other.

Personality: Bill is a very warm and outgoing person, a complete bundle of energy. His emotions are fairly changeable and adaptive. He’s fairly bright, though he tends to hide that so he doesn’t look like a complete know-it-all or show anyone up. He tends to avoid conflict when he can and is fairly obedient, most likely due to the long years of following his brother's commands. He's fairly serious and restrained, finding solace in studying--knowledge is power, after all. He always listens to the rules, and most of the time he obeys them, especially when they come from someone that can kick his ass.

He’s very good at pretending to be thick-skinned and appears to let hurtful comments roll off of him, though in fact he's quite hesitant and timid on the inside. He’s sentimental but unrefined, meaning that he’s a complete packrat with no sense of organization. Bill’s a very trusting individual, though, and is apt to trust the exact wrong person at the exact wrong time. He’s very naïve and discreet. He's fairly complacent and carefree, as long as he knows someone else is taking care of things. He is actually happiest being attached to one person, preferably someone familiar. He is a follower, not a leader, and it's easy to see that at times. He can be impulsive, which is why he feels the need to have so many rules--to keep him from doing something stupid. When in doubt as to the course of action, he will undoubtedly follow the rules to the letter, or in the case of conflicting rules, whatever his brother told him. He is driven and impatient, though he does his best to downplay that part of himself.

Bill is very good at hiding his emotions and displaying others instead, having learned that more often than not it's simply not appropriate to display his heart on his sleeve. As such, many times he will act one way while feeling a completely different way. This is not much use against supernatural powers, of course, but he's managed to fool quite a few humans before. Currently, however, he is in a depressive funk due to his brother's disappearance, and has lost interest in many of the things that he once enjoyed. Perhaps with time, he will revert back to his old self.

History: Bill was born just one year after his brother Thomas in a city on the west coast of America about nineteen years ago. The two brothers grew up happily enough until their eighth year, when their parents divorced. They continued to live with their mother so that they could remain together and continue to attend the same school, without their lives being too upset.

Their father, however, went on the path of self-destruction. He moved to this city and quickly took up drinking. He appeared more haggard every time they visited, more defeated. His once-neat appearance took on an unkempt one, his brown hair turning to gray rather quickly. By the time he was forty, he had the appearance of a sixty-year-old.

When the brothers were in their early teens, their mother was killed in a car accident on the way home from work. The boys were sent to live with their father, their only remaining relative with the exception of an eccentric uncle that lived on the other side of the country. Thomas and Bill quickly saw the need to begin taking care of themselves, since their father seemed incapable of doing so. Taking his role as the older brother rather seriously, Thomas tried his best to take care of his brother in every way possible. This led to rules and restrictions that a parent might normally place on a child; since they were brothers, however, that bond turned into a tangled mess of resentment, love and confusion.

By the time Bill had turned seventeen, he and his brother had both come out to their father in an anticlimactic bout of bravery; their father simply didn't care for them, and that was that. More often than not, Thomas played the role of the parent, to both Bill and their alcoholic father. They did not have a lot of money, though their father managed to hold as a janitor in one of the office buildings downtown. Bill did fine in school, though not too well. He found solace in studying, and received higher than average grades.

Thomas himself resented the way his father treated them both and had begun acting out in the past few years, falling in with a more sinister crowd of people. Bill, naive as he was, did not know much about these types of people, and in general ignored them as much as possible. They were his brother's friends and nothing more, as far as he was concerned.

After Bill had graduated high school, a few months past his eighteenth birthday, Thomas returned home in a rush, throwing things in suitcases. Bill, understandably confused, prodded an explanation out of his brother, attempting to calm him down. What he received in return was an explanation from his brother that vampires existed and they were all very much not safe. Thinking that his brother was freaking out over nothing and worried that he might possibly have lost his grip on reality, Bill convinced him to stay at the apartment and not overreact to something as fantastic as the existence of vampires.

When Bill woke up, his brother was gone. Even after searching all of the normal spots where his brother normally was, he never once managed to find his brother. Their father certainly didn't seem to care, but Bill did. He dropped out of community college and took a dead-end job to pay the bills, all the while trying to find out what happened to his brother.

One of his brother's friends, after finding out what had happened, agreed to show Bill the hotspots in the city, saying that it was possible that his brother had become a fledgling…either that or he was dead. Bill had to hold on to the hope that he would see his brother, though, and continued to tour the city on his off-time, trying to find any trace of his brother.

Overwhelmed with his obsession, Bill's personal life fell apart. Unable to fully care for himself or his father, it wasn't long before he found himself forgetting to eat or take care of himself. He broke every one of his brother's restrictions and rules trying to find him, staying out until all hours of the night before stumbling home in a daze to sleep until his next shift at work. His life lost all meaning except for finding his brother, leaving him in the perfect place to be manipulated by others.

Awareness of Supernaturals: Knows of the existence of Vampires, but otherwise in the dark as to any of species of supernatural. He's become rather knowledgable about how vampires feed and that they can't go out in the daylight, but outside of that isn't very knowledgable at all.

Occupation/Job:Gas station clerk

Interesting Facts / Quirks: Likes to wear eyeliner/makeup during the day as well as at night. Began to learn about cars from his father before the divorce, though he never learned how to fix them.

Hobby/Hobbies: Daydreaming, keeping up with the fashion world, sports cars (especially foreign), looking for his brother

Likes: Peppermint tea, sleek foreign cars, his brother, music, dancing, ice skating, feeding vampires, searching for clues/mysteries, dark chocolate, vanilla
Dislikes: Alcohol, drugs, feeling out of control, eating meat, begging, being pitied (unless it gains him something), milk chocolate, cherry flavoring, milk, being shown up

Strength: Determination to find his brother. Acting--mostly pretending to be someone else or to be in a completely different mood, though he would probably exceed on stage, as well.
Weakness/Flaw: Physically weak, easily manhandled. He's also fairly naive, though he's beginning to get over that.
