Creation:
In 1177, a french priest named Abbot traveled to the kingdom of Jerusalem in search of the blade known as Excalibur. It was rumored that the fabled King Arthur had left the sword there around the year 1,000 at the start of the crusades. Abbot was on orders from King Louis the sixth to find the blade and bring it back to France. The king believed that he could break the English with their own magic weapon. Abbot reached the holy land and immediately spoke with the Knights Templar.

A crusader named Jonhly informed Abbot that he'd heard of such a sword, and the pair went in search of it. They discovered the blade had already been claimed, but by who they didn't know. Desperate not to disappoint the French King, Abbot decided the only thing that could be done was a new powerful sword had to be made for Christendom and France. The Knights Templar decided to assist, thinking that holy weapons could help keep the Egyptians at bay.

The smiths provided silver they claimed was paid to Jedus for the pommel, and was shaped into the revolutionary cross guard style. Snakes were etched into the handle, the influence of a helpful Egyptian priest. The steel was cooled in holy water, and Abbot led the Templar's priests in a mass blessing. The result of Judus's evil and the priest's good was to create a weapon of neutrality. The sword destroys magic by balancing it's effects, and absorbing it within the blade.

Once the sword was forged it was returned to France, but it went missing from the French king during the trial of Joan of Arc. Nobody has seen the sword since. The blade is three feet in length and weighs a grueling fifty pounds. This is a two handed weapon.

Anti Magic Shell
While holding the blade, the wielder can not be cursed, diseased, or burned by magic. This does not protect against natural disease or burns. This has no effect on vampires disciplines unless they are rooted in magic like Blood Sorcery. This power does not work against demons, or fae, but does stop the curse of dark angels. If the wielder puts down the blade, they are then susceptible to magic as normal.

Barrier Slicing:
The sword can slice through magical barriers, creating a whole large enough to pass through. The effect lasts only long enough for two people to pass through before the barriers regain their effectiveness. The sword works despite the strength of the barrier in question, with only the power of multiple witch's being stronger.

Magical Destruction:
The blade can slice through magical projectiles or simple spells, absorbing the magic into the sword where it is balanced and neutralized. This allows the holder of the blade to fight witch's and other magical beings if they are skilled with the sword. The blade must connect with the magical attack to resolve this effect, so the owner is capable of missing and being effected by the magic.

Attunement:
The blade is attuned to one wielder at a time through peaceful meditation and a small offering of blood. Magical people can still wield the sword, although their magic is weakened by simply holding the weapon. If a witch holds the weapon for more than four hours in a row, they will be powerless until thier free of contact with the sword for twenty four hours.

Competing Magic:

If the blade comes into contact with other magic blades, they will compete. Ex: Excalibur*
If the blade comes into contact with curses, the blade will counteract them.
If the blade comes into magic from other planes, they will compete. Ex: Angel Weapons
If the blade comes into contact with dragon magic, the dragon's magic will be neutralized.
If the blade comes into contact with blessings, the blade will remain neutral.
*Magebane will not break magic blades, but it can not be broken by them.

Heated Metal Weakness:
The blade grows hotter and hotter the more magic it absorbs. It can become hot enough to inflict serious burns to the holder, and could be destroyed if overwhelmed with too much magic. It would take an incredible amount of magic to do so however. The owner of the sword should RP the blade increasing in heat, and becoming increasingly difficult to hold. If the blade keeps absorbing magic, the holder should RP their hand burning to keep holding it. Unless your character is immune to fire damage, eventually the blade becomes too hot to hold and must be dropped.

Be a sadist. Now matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them — in order that the reader may see what they are made of.
